After today's game, the way he lit a fire under their asses to make that comeback, even if we get bounced in 6 or 7 this round, I'm onboard with Babs for another couple years. Hopefully we'll keep a lot of this team intact and maybe have a few upgrades over some of the goobers out there making too many turnovers or being unable to get a shot on net, let alone in it (I won't name names, they know who they are, and you do too). Maybe he has to win one, two, three, or 11 more games this postseason to convince some of y'all as well, but he's got my vote for whatever it's worth.

YES!

They'll file a complaint? How quickly they forget Iginla's elbow on Hasek in game 4. They're pathetic. If you don't want the Wings to touch your goaltender, don't knock them into him. It's pretty simple.
-
Agreed. "If you can't win, go out there and hurt somebody" seems to be their mantra in this series thus far. I can't wait to hear what Babcock has to say in the post-game, and I'm hopeful the NHL will do something about it, as well as the other cheap shots. Even if they don't, I think Calgary shot themselves in the foot giving the Wings even more reason to want to put them away.
-
There should be three suspensions handed out: one for the cheap uppercut on an unsuspecting Lebda, one for the cheap two handed slash to the midsection on Franzen, and one for the cheap butt-end on Schneider. A message absolutely needs to be sent, this was gutless, and disgusting. Chalk it up to "frustration", it reeks more of goonery and it absolutely should not be tolerated.

An absolutely pathetic showing by the Flickers. They've shown over and over that if they can't win on the scoreboard they have to try and hurt people. The NHL needs to send a message about that sort of gutless play immediately.

Jesus, maybe Pierre could give us just a little bit of credit instead of attributing it all to Calgary sucking.
-
Calgary came out of that looking like a bunch of whiny *******. No sportsmanship whatsoever. It was pretty clear that Cleary wasn't even looking when he hit their goalie, and then they get all caught up in the "send a message" goonery at the end. Pathetic. Great W by the Wings.

I sport a goatee year round, but shaved it off monday to start the re-grow. I've had some pretty serious playoff beards in the past, although one of them was technically cheating because I let it grow till the finals were over even though the Wings had already lost.

My wife is a Buffalo born Sabres fan. For that reason alone, I pray that one team does not have to eliminate the other. It'd be bittersweet for me to see the Wings beat them, and have the feeling it'd merely be sweet for her if it went the other way. "Oh, you've won so many cups, we deserved it this year, yadda, yadda, yadda..."

Floppa back to Colorado? According to Dever Post...

A good number of us were pulling for the Avs, actually. Purely for the reason that they don't have the goaltending that Calgary does, and we've all seen that goaltending can absolutely carry a team in the playoffs. Kipper beat us almost single handedly last time. This writer is slightly delusional that anybody would have rather had Calgary. That said, Kipper doesn't have the team in front of him that he did last time we faced them, and we also don't have the team that couldn't solve him. Wings in 6. And if it had been the Avs, it would have been Wings in 5. That's about the only difference. -
We've all bagged on Lilja since he started here, myself included, but he has really stepped it up since he got the opportunity to play, and I for one am happy to have him going into the playoffs.
-
The Oilers wouldn't want it any other way. A battle of Alberta to try and keep the Flames from the playoffs? You better believe they'll be up for that game. They'll throw everything they've got at Calgary. That's a game I'd love to see. I personally hope that's how it pans out, too. I wish it came down to games like this more often for bubble teams.

Maxim actually has hockey related articles semi-regularly.

Has the sellout streak at JLA ended yet? No? Not much to worry about then. I live in Las Vegas, but was born in Ann Arbor. I was home visiting, and I got seats to game 3 of the ALCS last year. I left to make sure I got to JLA in time for Sabres/Wings. As I was walking out, the home run that scored the Tig's last run of the shutout win was being hit. I felt kinda bummed that I had to choose, but even though it was playoff baseball in Detroit, and they were winning the game, my heart is with the Wings.

I tell ya, the one jackass who took a Nashville fans misspelling of a word and asked "Is that a product of Detroit public schools?" ought to be de-nutted. All I could think was "Is the fact that Tennessee has the highest unsolved murder rate due to the lack of dental records, or the fact that DNA evidence matches most of the population?"

The rest of this season, and half of next. Anything less is soft. This makes Bert look like a sweetheart. As was already said, Bert at least used his fists, from behind or not, at least he didn't try to decapitate anybody.

I live in Vegas, and although the ECHL team doesn't even sell out their 7,000 seat arena until the playoffs start, one must also remember that ECHL hockey really, really sucks. Nobody can connect on a pass to save their lives. When the Thunder were here(the now kaput IHL, I beleive), they had a much better turnout as it was more entertaining hockey to watch. For my own selfish reasons I'd love them to put a team here, but this town would have mainly fans that support this team until their old team came to town. There's no way I'd root against the Wings, ever. As many MI transplants as there are here, this would turn into JLA even-further-west as happens in Phoenix.

It shouldn't have been a goal, according to the rules at the time. You'd be pissed too. Av fans get on my nerves the most. Shocking number of them around my neck of the woods, too. Don't they still chant "Red Wings Suck"?

I wish Center Ice broadcast in HD. I wish OLN broadcast in HD. I wish I could EVER watch the Wings in HD.
-
Lang, Draper, Mowers, and Franzen are all centers. Yzerman's a natural center who's been playing the wing to stay on the team. As I understand it, Zetterberg's a natural center as well. If you're gonna try and sign somebody, sign some damn wingers instead of signing decent centers and putting them on the wing. If we managed to sign all our RFA's, our 4th line would be made up entirely of centers. Enough with the damn centers already.
-
When did I ever say I knew anything about what's going on behind closed doors? Don't lump me in with the other "chicken little" types on the board. If we signed our RFA's, we'd have 7 centers. I'd say that's one too many at least. I know where Zetterberg has played there, guy. Your entire post has me pegged as being in panic mode, but I never stated anything to indicate as such. Putting words in my mouth I never said...now THAT is "damn annoying".
