Stuart is so seldom tough or mean that I only see him as big, not fast and prone to an occasional costly brain fart. He is OK but there are a lot of OK defensemen in the league and I wouldn't be upset if he left because at his age I think He will be only be going downhill.

Hudler is what he is, a small OFFENSIVE player, with not a lot of defensive awareness. There are a s*** load of them around the league and used properly they SCORE POINTS and some have conracts that make Hudler's look like chicken feed. He needs to be used as a sniper (Brett Hull type) if the Wings are unable to create that invironment for him then they should have traded him a long time ago. I'm not saying he would ever be as good as Hull but on the right line I think he could become a 60/70 point producer. Defensively I don't think he is any worse than Fransen, and I sure as hell don't think Fransen is any more physical.

Gotta have SOMEONE to stand up for that 6'3" 222Lb ***** Franzen when someone gives him a Semin slap.

In Casey's situation you need to understand that there are people that are just so stupid they cannot grasp the meaning of circumstantial evidence. I guess there are always excuses and numbers games for players that are liked, and no excuses for ones that are not liked. How can you be sure that a player wouldn't "pull his weight in other areas" if you don't try them? The player we are discussing is LESS than 2M and he wouldn't be the first player banished to the minors if it didn't workout.

Franzen is 6'3" 220Lbs. soft AND made of glass, will make 5.2M this season and has never hit 60 points in his career. How many players do we have that willingly go to the hard ice to score. The list is short but we have 4 forwards that have never hit 60 points and make more than 2M, plus Burt at almost 2M that hasn't been a 60 point player for several years.

Possible 60 points for less than 2M, why not take a chance? You never know if a guy can get his head on straight if you don't take that chance. If it doesn't work out you send his ass to Grand Rapids or tell him to GO HOME AND STAY THERE.

Although I wouldn't mind getting rid of Franzen cuz as you said he's made of glass he also is a BIG f***** that plays small, but that trade is way too much for Byfuglien. Wouldn't mind having him but not at that price. He has only had one plus season and that was the Hawks cup season at +7. Too steep but be my guest trading Franzen and his lifetime contract that pays him more than Datsyuk when you figure in the number of games missed due to injury.

I would be interested to see your list of available players that have "two of these three traits" and most importantly, what you think we could have acquired them for.

Especially when you consider that he will be one of the two smallest guys on the roster (Hudler) and other than Abby the only time they take off their gloves is in the tunnel.
