Lundqvist and Quick (two of the league's highest paid goalies) are probably going to meet in final. One could argue that spending 6+M on an elite goalie is the way to go. Except with 20+ M in cap space, and 2 more years of waiver eligibility for all the D prospects + Pulkinen, and with Mantha, Nastasiuk, AA, etc all with 3 years....... How's Kenny going to create this jam?

Exactly. They will bring in a D man. Through trade or free agency, guaranteed. Both Holland and Babcock (and my dog, and cabbie, and the girl who gets me popcorn at the movies, and Jeff Bridges, and Prince) said they need to improve the friggin' D.

Exactly. Same as Boyle. 2 year deals for Greene and Boyle would help stabalize the D until the young guys are ready. If Holland goes the FA route, I would much rather he do this than sign Niskanen to a long term deal. We need to have roster felxibility. Marchenko, Backman, Ouellet, and Sproul could all be legit NHLers in 2 years.

Ahhh. Are we still not over the Bruins? Last I checked they got beat by a skilled team from Montreal. I'd love the Wings to be "harder" to play against. They'll have to do that through the draft (because top six guys who can score are almost impossible to acquire as UFAs). Holland has obviously started drafting bigger guys recently. For now, I'll take a team that can: a) score b) score on the PP c) score

This team needs two reliable D men right now while some of the prospects develop. Boyle Markov Zidlicky Pick one. 2 year deal max. Orpik Greene Mitchell Pick one. 2 year deal max. Holland has to try and improve the top six as well. If he has a chance to grab a UFA, he better do it. Callahan Michalek Vrbata Moulson Pick one. Those guys are all former Wings. Also, Tatar getting a noise complaint is nothing like Neal trying to turn guys noggins into overripe melons with a side of scrambled eggs. Just saying’. I fuss by now you can tell that I want no part of Neal on the Red Wings.

Well, let's hope NYR can at least win a game against the Hawks. Funny, for all this talk of parity, sure seems like a handful of teams dominate this league. But that's OK as long as the Red Wings are no longer of them. -
I have to ask. Considering who won't be back (Quincey, Bert, Legwand, Sammy, Tootoo) who on the Wings roster is a "d-bag"? And they most certainly don't have any Neal level douchey guys.

Yes. If Mantha doesn't make the team out of camp it's because Holland has offered contracts to Bertuzzi, Cleary, Sammy, Jason Williams, Maltby, and Hartigan. It'll have nothing to do with Mantha not quite being ready. Holy s*** this rhetoric is getting old.

First off, let me just say that a Babcock move-on would be natural. Like, "Circle of Life” style stuff. It doesn’t ******* have to be a **** wagging finger pointing ordeal. Secondly, I totally agree. It’s all Holland’s fault. For example, if Yzerman was our GM, Babcock would stay. I mean, just look at that Olympic roster! Yzerman’s Olympic roster > Holland’s Red Wings. It’s all Holland’s fault.
