I can't help but think that Datsyuk's injury,combined with Ottawa's physical man-handling of the Wings, may have stuck a nerve. This team has a pulse.

Hey everyone, Long-time LGWer here. I'm taking my dad and brother to the Joe March 6th and 7th. This will be our first ever Wings home game. We're making the journey from the east coast of Canada so it's a biggish sort of deal. I've been doing a s***-load of research in planning for this trip. I just thought, since I have great respect for a lot of you, if anyone had any suggestions based on personal experience about the following: 1. Where to stay: I'm looking at Greektown Casino, Holiday Inn Express, Westin Book, and Doubletree Lafayette. 2. Best pre-game and post-game hangs for food and beer that have easy flow and access to the people movers. I have read all there is to read on Trip Advisor, etc. But I want to hear what the LGWs hardcore locals had to say. Pretty sure I have the rest covered but any other tourist tips, dos and don't, etc would be aprreciated. I'll pay you back in advice if any of you are ever planning to travel to Atlantic Canada (which is beautiful, by the way) Mods, feel free to move this to where ever it should be. Thanks all!!

It's weird that the same squad (more or less) that had an outstanding team GAA average last year (5th) is struggling so badly 5-on-5 this year. And this same team has much much better special teams play this year. But if you look at the games the Wings have lost that they should have won, the blame has to go to overall team defense, goaltending, and coaching. Too many untimely mistakes and late game meltdowns. Too many questionable personell decisions by the coaching staff in these moments. This team is going to have spells where they have trouble scoring, and they're going to have spells of trouble keeping pucks out of their net overall. But they need to learn how to not give up huge goals in key situations, during games that they've played well enough to win. They really have to look closely at what's working on the road, because it's not working at home.
