Disgraceful. My blood’s boiling. As s***-tastic as this team’s been, this is the angriest I’ve been all year. I hope we absolutely gut the Senators in Ottawa.
-
Turris is like a poor man’s Patrick Kane. Not as good and not quite as much of a punk.
-
Is it just me or is Ottawa playing like a bunch of gutless pricks tonight?
-
^ Amazing^ The jam. All I can offer up is my puny little Let's Go Wings!!!!!
-
I've had a good day. So I'll at least say this: He can still kill penalties. And our PK is pretty great this year. Before you all grind my scrotum to dust remember, I'm just trying to be nice to the guy.

Guess what Detroit have in spades? Skilled prospects. Nyquist, Jurco, and Jarnkrok will all be full-time Red Wings at some point. Guess what Detroit lacks? Versitile, big, fast, physical wingers. I think in our collective "Nyquist Is Bigger Than Jesus" craze here at LGWs, we might be under-valuing Abdlekader a bit? Edit: I'm aware that Nyquist has now officially earned a full-time roster sopt.
-
You really think trading Abdlekader for a 4th rounder is Holland's only viable option? Or are you perhaps blowing things out of proportion? And while we're at it, I'd rather have Nyquist ride out the season in the AHL then lose Abdlekader for a 4th.
-
"While he was here, Hudler never gave a s*** about having clean stairs"
-
Yes. Let's trade one of our only decent physical forwards that can be plugged into any of the four forward lines in a pinch, for a 4th rounder.
-
"They haven't been one of the best teams in the NHL over the last 20 years" "Most hockey fans do not wish their team was more like the Wings"
-
Based on last night's game? I wouldn't change either of the 2nd or 3rd lines. They're perfect for now. Even the 4th line was alright. Ideally, we slot Weiss in on Datsyuk's wing and then let Sammy and Cleary duke it out for the final spot on the 4th line.
-
Bad shift for Tatar there. Wings Win!!!!!!!
-
Hey. Cleary on the first line. Wings snap their winless streak. Right? Right?
-
Hey. Just get this to OT. I’d take a point.
-
Man. I’d be soooooooo willing to abort this season for the following: 1. A 1st round pick as high as 14 2. The end of Cleary and Quincey on this team 3. A renewed sense of accountability within this organization, from the Greek Mafia all the way down to the coach
-
Perhaps. Holland also has to re-sign Dekeyser.
-
This is based on the assumption that the Wings would be looking at UFA defensemen and saying no upgrade was available? The promote from within: Kronwal - Ericsson Dekeyser - Smith Kindl - Lashoff Almquist with Backman (hopefully he'll be in GRs), Oullett, and Sproul capable of filling in short-term if there's injuries. OR sign Boyle if he's available to a two year, 6M/per deal. Kronwall - Ericsson Dekeyser - Boyle Kindl - Smith Lashoff Holland HAS to let Quincey go.

http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/audo-not-the-best-day-for-ken-holland 10 minutes long. Worth a listen. Do yourself a favour, it's not quite your typical Kenny-speak. Notes: - he's not in a good mood. you can tell - possible that Nyquist gets called up as early as tomorrow. "possible" - says kids aren't the answer, this is a man's league - makes a decent point: says look at Nyquist and Jurco, etc, they're generating points with tons of PP minutes which they wouldn't be getting in Detroit; says that's a role that young kids have to "grow into" - when asked about FA signings was careful to point out that we haven't seen enough games out of the full team he built over the summer. - ended the interview by saying: some of the FA signings haven't performed as well as I expected they would, and that's on me" I suggest you listen to this interview before you start your Holland rants in this thread.

"Nyquist Getting the Call" Nyquist: Hello? Holland: Hey Gustav, how are things in Grand Rapids? Nyquist: Great, I'm leading the team in scoring and we're first in our division and.... Holland: Yeahhh, that's swell. Say listen, could you give Eaves a message for me? Tell him to pack his bags for Detroit. We're calling him up for Thursday's game. K Thx, later!!!!!
-
In which case, context is important. Holland only made the "kids" comment when he was grilled by the radio guy, suggesting he call up Jurco too. Jurco is only 20. That, and having the letter "K" in your name.
-
I'm a spoiled brat. So no. No respect. Unless we have a deep run or win the cup. Then it's ZOMFG, these guys are genius.
-
Agreed. But I don't think Holland has trouble understanding this. To me, it just sounded like he was cautioning against expectations that Nyquist was going to be the answer to The Wings current problems. He did say, short of bringing in a game-changing superstar that no one player can fix what;s broken, that this is a team-wide issue and that they have to play better (secondary scoring and defense) "as a team". I can live with this sentiment. Personally, I'm pumped that Nyquist is most likely getting called up, and is here to stay. But Red Wings fans have got it so band these days, that #freenyquist has become a thing, like he was the Nelson Mandella or ***** Riot of hockey. Goose can only do so much.
-
Not like Toews was a first overall pick and a genrational superstar. The Wings have a great prospect pool, but that's what they're missing. A lottery pick. I understand wanting to stack the squad with young guns, hell, I'd love to have a 4th line right now of Sheahan - Jarnkrok - Jurco. But we all have to stop comparing Nyquist, Tatar, etc to guys like Toews, Skinner, Crosby, or even Landeskog and Nichushkin. These guys were all drafted in the top 1-15 spots.
-
Hey now. I went to the trouble of paraphrasing this interview (somewhat) for all the ADD LGWers out there that can't be bothered to listen. No need to bust my grammar balls.

St James can be a crack-head from time to time. Holland stated this morning in this interview http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/audo-not-the-best-day-for-ken-holland that it's a "possibilty"
