Not too too surprised. I still think there are a handful of bottom-dwellers that would like a guy like Eaves. But I also feel like those teams don't want to blow their highly seeded position in the waiver queue on a guy like Eaves in case someone better comes along.

You won't get a good offensive D-man through UFA between the ages of 27 - 32. As much as I hate "getting older", I'd look at bringing in Dan Boyle if he's healthy. He's 37, but on a two year deal he would be a nice stop-gap guy until Sproul or someone else is ready. Kronwall - Ericsson Boyle - Dekeyser Kindl - Lashoff That would be a relatively mistake-free D, with more offense then we're seeing this year.

1. Do we have to explain the Sammy thing every time someone is waived? 2. I like Eaves, but he's very replaceable. Just like Emmerton (who I also liked)

Ericsson and Dekeyser. Probably looking at a combined 6 or 7M. Worth every penny IMO.

So. I don't have any huge issue with Filpulla going to Tampa. But it annoys me to no end that he seemed to shoot the puck and drive the net more in that first period then he typically did in any 2-3 game stretch last year.
