Gonna be hard if Tootoo's in Calgary or Nashville or something

Good news!!! Thanks for the link. This means Holland must have a plan. With Nyquist and Andersson being fixtures on "line 3" with Sammy and Bert both rotating through that line in Inter-squad games and scrimmages, you have to think that Goose is safe from GRs demotion. Zetterberg Datsyuk Weiss Alfredsson Franzen Abdlekader Cleary Nyquist Andersson Tatar Miller Bertuzzi Those 12 are locks. + Helm when healthy = 13 Samuelson Emmerton Eaves Tootoo will duke it out for the 14th spot, unless there are injuries. Which is pretty much what everyone's been saying all along.

Signed Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Am I the only one who hates the idea of 2 or three guys clearing wiavers and going to GRs? Lat time I checked they had a bit of a roster crunch too. This waiver wave won't just affect the Red Wings roster, but may end up sending some decent prospect like Tverdon to Toledo. I don't see that as being anywhere close to a cool thing. -
f*** it: Abdlekader - Datsyuk - Alfredson Franzen - Zetterberg - Nyquist Tatar - Weiss - Cleary Miller - Andersson - Bertuzzi Hate to break up Pav and Hank or put Weiss on the third line but it makes more sense to bench Emmerton than it does to sit Goose or Tatar.
-
None of those guys played their first year in GRs at the age of 18. Hudler and Filpulla, for example were both 22 when they played their first full season in Detroit. Ericsson was 25. Tatar is 22 right now. Worth considering. But for the record: 1. I'm mostly in agreement with you, I just wish he'd keep his thoughts to himself and keep working hard. 2. He's not waiver exempt and would never clear so he'd never be sent down. So it's all a bit moot anyway.
-
Well, Nyquist could very well start the season in Grand Rapids and you don't hear him complaining. Tatar was saying the same thing last year, that it was his last year in GR and he'd be asking for a trade if he wasn't in the Wings plans this year. Honestly, I can't blame the guy, and I agree that he's proven himself. And I really want to see him on the Wing's starting roster in October/ BUT, I can't remember any prospect that's made the pro transition form GRs ever talk like this. (Filpulla, Hudler, Kronwall, Helm, Howard, Ericsson). And there have been plenty of guys over the years that have had to be patient. So there's that, and that's all I'm really saying.
-
And maybe this is why Tatar is slotted as a depth guy right now. Attitude?
-
Filpulla and Brunner saw all this BS coming. That's why they wanted out.
-
Could actually be him, you know. Anyway, Hockeys Future has Florida ranked #1 and Minnesota at #4. Hardly "widely regarded" methinks.

centcougar? Is that you?

I can't believe this, but it appears Ticketmaster have some. http://www.ticketmaster.com/detroit-red-wings-vs-colorado-avalanche-detroit-michigan-03-06-2014/event/08004AFFD5C4897B?artistid=805938&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=9 Just click on a section (like 212) and drag your mouse around. You'll see what I mean. Personally, I'm pissed. They said they were "sold out" a minute after they went on sale on Saturday Aug 24th. I ended up getting tickets off of Stubhub, which were more expensive.

Franzen is a laid back dude. He's always saying s*** like this. It's the verbal equivalent of "shrugging". It'll be status quo for Franzen this season. If any of you are holding out hope for him to go full beast mode, you'll be disappointed. However, if you're more or less happy with what he brings vs what he gets paid, then there's no cause for alarm based on this latest quote from Mule.
-
I've got mad man-boner-love for Helm. But Zetterberg hasthis title locked up IMO.
-
Everyone. As always. Boston - because d'uh Ottawa - because they've already said that their only goal this season is to be better than us Totonto - beacuse they play a style that gives us fits Tampa - because Filpulla's going to make us want to choke him by finally reaching his "potential" and playing the way we wished he had in Detroit Florida - because Weiss - see Alfredsson 2.0 Pittsburgh - becasue of Pierre McGuire and Edzo Seriously though, I always worry about every team.
-
And that's where team decline begins. The Wings went final four, then cup, then cup finals. Then guys had to get paid. The Bruins just lost Horton and spent a ton of money on Rask. But that's the cycle all winning teams go through. How Chiarelli navigates this will detrmine ultimately how good a GM he is.

Lamoriello has done great things for Jersey. Most recently, the trade for Schneider. He's also been able to maintain a (mostly) successful team for the last 25 + years. However the Kovy deal was insane, and the Clowe signing this year was almost as crazy. Every GM has gaffs, but I think this put Lou out of the top 5 for sure. Right now, I'd put 9 GMs ahead of Lamoriello. Holland Chiarelli Lombardi Poile Shero Murray Some sort of Bowman (Stan or Scotty depending on who you believe is pulling the strings in Chicago) Doug Wilson (sure the Sharks are cup-less, but he's kept them in legitimate contention since 2006) Maloney

Signed Joakim Andersson re-signs, 2yrs, $1.465m ($732,500k cap hit)
rick zombo replied to Ram's topic in General
How can they be on the same level AND bring more to the table when healthy? Unless I'm missing something. I think Andersson is on par, right now, with Miller and Eaves, He brings way more all-around hockey then Tottoo, and has the potential to be a rock-solid checking line center. Hell, he looked like a legit third line center, as a rookie, this spring. That's a good sign. -

I can't believe that cap hit. I think he made more last year? -
I think if we're going to speculate, the best theory is that he left because he didn't get along with Babcock. Same as Scheider and Lang. Although I think in the case of all three of theses guys, the Wings weren't overly worried about them leaving either.
-
Thinking of coming all the way from Canada's east coast for this one. Have tickets gone on sale yet? Does anyone know how hard it would be to get 3 for this game?

Devils sign Jagr (1 yr deal, financial terms not yet disclosed)

These guys need an 8th. -
Wonder if Lidstrom's jersey retirment will be the season opener against Buffalo on October 2?
