1. No one knows what Holland offered but it's believed to be in the 2.5 range 2. Sammy has a NTC 3. Of course Brunner said he loved playing here. You know who loves playing here? Datsyuk. He could have gotten extra money out of Jersey or 28 other teams next year too. Except he re-upped with the Wings for less than he would have got as a UFA in 2014. I don't buy all the "OMG I looooove Detroit" talk from Brunner.
-
2 years @ 3M per? If this is true I'm going to speculate that Brunner is trying escape Detroit because he doesn't want to - play on the 3rd line - train as hard as the big boys - play 2 way hockey - be subjected to Babcock's demanding coaching style I dunno, just seems weird that he'd leave for Jersey of all places for comparable $
-
Sure. Well the "getting scored on" thing is something we should be worrying about more then "getting manhandled", and I don't see that concern being echoed ad nauseum.
-
Those guys manhandle everyone. Chara could suck Clarkson's eyeballs out of his sockets if he felt like it. What's you point? It's like saying "OMG, Stamkos and Ovechkin are going to score on us!!!!!!!"
-
Recently? Fleischmann and Matthias sting a little bit. Just wait until we trade Tatar as part of an Edler package

If Abby spends the season on Zetterberg and Datsyuk's wing his value will be measured in how productive that line is in general. His role will be to get the puck and create space. If he does those things well, I think he 'll score 15 goals through osmosis alone.

I think some of us are going to love this guy. Seems like a heart & soul player, like Helm or Eaves, only with way more skill and hockey sense.

Jim Nill takes Red Wings’ director of amateur scouting to Dallas
rick zombo replied to wheelchairwing's topic in General
IMO this is not a reflection on Holland, good or bad. Some of you want him skewered and you're using this as a talking point. It's simple: Nill ran Detroit's draft. Of course he had a closer relationship with our head scouts then Holland did. It makes total sense. -
They've all been tendered qualifying offers from Holland. Pretty sure that this means they can't be poached. Anyone back me up on this?
-
Completely. We all want the team to be better. But I wasn't talking about the production value/worth/quality of the the guys riding the pine. I was talking about how obvious it is that these guys that everyone complains about are all signed to short-term deals. We're only stuck with Bert and Sammy for one more year. ( for the record, I love Bert, hate Sammy) People here complain about Franzen and the length of his contract. AXE being one of the head cheerleaders. Imagine tossing on a 5 year deal for Vinny @ 5M (he'd be 37 or 38 at the end of the deal) and a 7 year deal for Clarckson @ 6M + (he'd be the same age as Vinny at the end of the contract) People moan about useless 36 or 37 year-old guys (Bert, Sammy) riding the bench and eating up a measly 5.5M in cap space? Imagine, in five years, having 26M in cap space tied up in 5 players (Z, Kronwall, Mule, Vinny, Clarkson) all over the age of 37? That's all I was ever saying.
-
Jesus. How hard is it to see that Samuelson, White, Tootoo, Bertuzzi, Quincey , etc are all signed to short term deals. Holland knows this. Is it a coincidence that Bert and Sammy's contracts are up next year when Ericcson's due for a raise, for example. Clarkson, Horton, and Lecavalier all wanted minimum five year deals!!!! Understand? See the difference between those contracts and the guys I mentioned above. I'm no Holland slappy, but use your friggin brain. + July 5th was Friday last time I checked.

Thefourthperiod says Weiss will be looking for 5M/per over 5 years. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/det130703.html At these prices, no way Holland replaces Filpulla. Not only will Cleary be re-signed, but he'll be a top six winger again

This is weird to me. 7M/yr for 8 years is a great offer. It's says he's asking for more than 7.5 but less than 8. There's no significant difference really. All of this makes it seem to me like he wants out of Pitts.
-
.....and Clowe. Srsly, he might be a decent middle six addition at a bargain. ......or Iginla. It's amazing how no one's throwing his name around. I know he didn't want to come t Detroit at the deadline, but he also didn't want to go to Boston. I think he'd score 30 on Datsyuk's wing. Just for fun, how about both?
-
Why? Just to be nice? Morality? GMs are signing these guys.

2001 may be looked back upon with more fondness had Grigorenko not nearly died in a car crash. I remember six months after the draft when the WJCs were in Halifax and he dominated vs Canada en route to gold. Everyone was saying what a steal he was at 62 earlier that year.
-
Seemes strange that they would do this. There are a decent handful of top 4 D-men available as UFAs. If they're looking for a legit top 2 pairing D-man, then that's a different story all together.

Jamal Mayers: Stanley Cup Champion TM
-
He can always just bail on Columbus come July 5th.
-
I'd be fine with this, as long as Kenny didn't call it a day and reach for the golf sticks. He's got wayyyy more work to do than acquiring a low pick for Filpulla's rights.
-
Two things are encouraging: 1. Kenny usually shows his hand, to a degree. For example, when he says he's not going to make a trade at the deadline, he usually doesn't. But when he gets in to specifics like "trading/moving players at the draft in a 2-for-1 deal or even a 5-for-2 deal", I believe him. It's very encouraging. 2. Holland has an abundance of assets to work with. He can offer a package that includes a good young prospect (i.e Tatar, Smith, Nyquist) + a few servicable roster players with very tradable contracts (i.e. Quincey, Emmerton, Eaves, Cola, Tootoo). Also, that 18th overall 1st round pick has wayyyyyy more value than the Wings typical 26th - 30th overall pick from years past. If Holland is serious, and I think he is, we may actually see the tire-kicker making some significant moves to address this team's needs. Exciting. But I'm not holding my breath either.

I think the OP meant this thread to be a destination to report actual trades and buyouts, not speculation, rumors, or ideas. Correct me if I'm wrong. With that being said, let's go huge: To Winnipeg: Filpulla's rights Tatar Quincey Tootoo Emmerton To Detroit: Wheeler's rights Bogoisian

Trim the fat Kenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
