Jarnkrok will be essentially the same size Z was in his rookie year.

I think guys like Sheahan, Andersson, and Ferraro will go a long way in helping the PK eventually. Whoever commented on our lack of speed on the PK nailed it. Speed AND size. They don't get to the points quickly enough, can't win a battle along the boards, and are never really an explosive threat to score short-handed. Helm is the only Wing that can do all of these things right now. Edit to add: Cleary is killing penalties, and taking shifts on the PP. To me, this is insane. I just can't understand it.

I saw the replay 3 times in slow-mo. I couldn't see any stick. I thought "one of his balls must have gotten tangled up in his cup/jock-strap" Then I remembered, Franzen has no balls. LOL. I kid. He's a great guy. -
Things that are better than the Wings special teams.

Hey, if you're entitled to start a thread about the Wings special teams when there's already a very fresh one discussing the PK, then surely I'm entitled to comment in this thread. No? I don't really care though. Moving on..... -

I'm going to go with: 3. Redundant threads. -
I feel the same way about Cherry. And he said some pretty harsh things about Nail before the WJCs this year. BUT, in fairness to The Don, he showed both Yakupov's goal vs The Kinngs and Fleury's goal back in the early 90s against the Oilers in the playoffs which was carbon copy material. He basically called them both idiots and went on to explain that Messier and the Oilers used Fleury's antics as motivation to win the series. Or something like that. Anyway, my point is, Cherry was quick to come down on Fleury, who back in the day was about as "Canadian" as you could get

My new favourite thing is when Babs dropped Bert back on a line with Helm and Tootoo late in the third, and they crashed the living f*** out of Minnesota’s D.
-
Well, I think as a team the Wings blocked 24. So it’s not just Huskins, but he lead the way.
-
Huskins with 7 blocked shots tonight.
-
Bert hasn’t been too shabby either.

If Cleary gets re-signed this summer, I’m not watching hockey next year.

Fool proof formula for the “new” NHL. 1 elite PP line 1 elite PK line a bunch of scrubs.

I remember a time when I used to care who was reffing. For instance, if it was Dan O'Halloran or someone I'd be all like "uh-oh, Dan's reffing, we might lose this one!!". Now I don't care, because losing SO FAR (note to the LGWs Optimism Brigade) can only be blamed on pure suckiness.

I don't think Illitch would have a problem losing out on that 1-year payment to Quincey if it meant keeping about 40 less goals from getting behind Howard. This is just fooling around anyway. But hey, LGW Police to the rescue everyone. You got me Carman, you got me. Good job!!!!!
-
I'm going to walk the line between realism and fantasy here. This line-up is not impossible and if Kenny has a few good days, it could happen. Amnesty buyouts for Quincey and Sammy. Let Filpulla go. Sign Corey Perry Let White go. Sign Robin Regehr. Trade Franzen. Sign David Clarkson Sign Erskine. Nyquist - Datsyuk - Perry Clarkson - Zetterberg - Brunner Bert - Helm - Tatar Abdlekader - Andersson - Tootoo Eaves Kronwall - Ericsson Smith - Regehr Kindl - Erskine Lashoff Cola (IR) Howard Gustavson

I have no intentions of debating sample sizes when projecting end of season results. I totally agree that evaluating any team 3 games in to this ********-wart of a season could be considered jumping the gun a bit. However, The Rangers, Canucks, and to a lesser extent, the Flyers all have less concerns "on paper" than the Wings do. It's easier to blow off their slow starts. A lot of us were concerned with this team coming into this season, so the bad start is less of an anomoly and more of a possible projection of things to come. Let me conclude though, before any of the optimists loose their s*** about what I said above, I am by no means going to bet against this team. Just simply trying to point out that there is a difference, on paper anyway, between this team vs the Rangers, Canucks, and I'd even say the Flyers. So, with all due repsoct and good-natured intentions, I'm not sure that you can use this as leverage when making your point.

I look at what trading Gaustad brought in for Buffalo last year. Any hope we could land something like that for Cleary?
-
LOL. This is ******* ridiculous. It's too much work to even keep track of the injuries now.

On a more serious note the Sharks are beating the Oil 6-1 after the 1s

True. Also this: When the playoffs roll around they will only have played 48 games. In their minds, the playoffs might just seem like an extension of the regular season. If no one tells them differently, they could go all the way. I understand that they spanked us 2 out of the last 3 years, but their post-season under-achieving goes waaaaaaay back. -
Looks like he may have taken Howard’s skate off his left knee as he was sliding by the crease.
