His play has been a bit of a revelation. That TOI stat blows my mind. -
#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

I just drooled myself into a puddle thinking about this. Back to reality. The Flyers are doing something magical right now. -
#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #1 Vancouver Canucks

I think, psychologically, starting Schneider may be the only way to swing momentum in this series. I mean, what do you do if you’re Vancouver? This is not a knock against Luongo or the Canucks (although I hate them) but I just can’t visualize any scenario working for them other than Schneider stealing game 3 in LA and getting in LA’s head a bit. -

Shea Weber fined for Zetterberg "headslam"
rick zombo replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
I want Weber in the line-up Friday. The last thing we need is the Preds rallying around the loss of that piece of s*** for a game or whatever. -
On NHL.com, 13 people chimed in with 1st round picks. 11 picked Nashville. www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=626836&navid=DL|NHL|home

Yes, I agree. Still doesn’t erase the fact that over the past 5 years all of the teams in the central have built young, competitive teams through the draft using picks you only get early in the first round. Except Columbus. They are a disaster. However, if you look back at games the Wings didn’t show up for this year, I’m sure you could scrape enough points together to easily seed them (at least) second in the central. Which is where they could finish regardless. And they are 4-2 against the Blues. So yeah, still a pretty good team.

Match-ups: (1) Vancouver vs (8) Phoenix (2) St. Louis vs (7) LA (3) San Jose vs (6) Detroit (4) Nashville vs (5) Chicago This sucks, but it’s my prediction. The final central standings: 1 - St. Louis 2 - Nashville 3 - Chicago 4 - Detroit 5 - Columbus. If this happens, I dare say it would look like the lack of high first rounders may finally be catching up with Detroit.

I think Semin flanking Datsyuk would solve some problems too. I’d have no fear bringing him and all his baggage here to Detroit. I bet Holland snags him while the Rangers, Wild, Leafs, Kings, and whoever else, fight over Parise (edit). Semin + some size on the bottom 6. No need to gut the core, but a trade or two should happen to add some meat. I’m sick of the 4th line having no identity. Homer retires Eaves doesn’t get cleared to play until January 2013 Emmerton gets traded at the draft. Semin - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Franzen - Zetterberg - Filpulla Nyquist - Helm - (heathy) Cleary Glass - Abdlekader - Prust Miller

Says a Blues fan for the 2nd time in seven years.
-
+1. Totally agree. Even a 7th seed vs Blues would be great.
-
Which, one could argue could have easily been negated by a misconduct or "diving" penalty to Backes.
-
If my captain looked like a tool, I'd probably feel the same way.
-
Alright. 4 minutes to Mule. 2 to Backes. 2 minute PP for the Blues. Franzen stays in the game. Backes still looks like a tool. Happy?
-
Classic!!!!!!! 4-2 Wings. 2-1 Kings (OT) 3-0 Nashville
-
I never said it shouldn't have been a penalty. I'm saying Backes is either really really soft, or he embellished. The blood probably came from hitting his chin on the diving board. Should have been two mintues to Franzen for the swat, two minutes to Backes for misconduct or whatever you want to call it. I didn't mention Emmerick. He's a play-by-play guy. He sticks to the facts. It's the color guys (Piere and Olczyk) that spin things.
-
You obviously don't watch a lot of NBC Wings coverage. How about the time this season when you could hear Olczyk moan like a women 18 hours into child birth when the Wings beat Chicago in overtime? Did you see that? Were you watching? There are about 100 LGWs members that can back me up here without bias.
-
Well, you're in a tough position. You either have to admit that a) Backes is a Thorton-class diver or b) after chirping Datsyuk like a punk, he got physically owned by a big soft noodle man pansy without even remotely trying to defend himself at the time, or later in the game. Tough spot to be in as a Blues fan. Par for the course today I suppose.
-
I wouldn't put too much stock in what the NBC guys had to say. It was a Blues love-fest all night from those guys. As is always the case with Piere and Olczyk regardless of who the Wings are playing. I thought they were going to cry when the Wings tied it up.

What a STATEMENT game!! That's right. 4-2 against the Blues this year. Take away the 6 OT loser points St.Louis stockpiled and you have a tie at the top of the central. But whatevs. Also, take the two bone-headed turnovers away and this is a different game. Also, the Blues need to learn how to take the foot off the gas a bit. They were clearly out of juice for the last 6 minutes of the third and overtime. Like I've been saying all along, if I were a Blues fan I'd be concerned about the following: - Do they have an extra gear. Detroit showed tonight that they do. - Can they sustain their physical, defensive blitz for 60 minutes a game throughout a best-of-seven against an elite, veteran team like the Wings?
-
Duly noted.

A certain Blues fan predicts a non-caring Blues team will beat a desperate Wings team 3-1. I predict Franzen tries so hard that he skates around the ice at blazing speads creating a vortex that sucks up Hitchcock like Schwarzenegger's vaccum and then the entire Blues team forgets how to skate without DonutMan's mind control powers. But the Blues will still win 3-1 because they're that good. /I'm done now. In all seriousness, I hope for a good effort by the Wing's tonight.
