http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/13788/rumblings-montreal-moves-cammalleri-bs-devils-wild-have-tough-decisions When I read that, I think two things. The first is that Holland obviously isn't prepared to trade a 1st round pick, a top 3 prospect, and an above average roster player for a guy like Parise. I'd have to agree with this approach. The second thing I think about, and what concerns me the most, is how much does he like this team? I like the team too, but there are obvious areas for improvement. Holland knows this, so I think this is the part of the quote that Holland displays any real kind of diplomacy or slyness. I can't see him coming out and saying "I don't think we can win without another top six winger and grit in the bottom six." BUT if he really think's this team can't be improved by swapping fringe assets for a Moen-type, or trading a non bank-breaking package for a top six guy like Ruutu, then I'd have to question his judgement. I doubt this is the case though. Basically, what I take away from that quote is that he won't mortgage the future for a rental or get in a crazy bidding war for that top six winger every playoff team wants. Edit to add: any LGW sleuths want to try and dig up some pre-deadline quotes form Holand in 08 before he traded a 4th round pick for Brad Stewart? I bet he was saying the same type of thing then

Clearly it starts with management. The team has no identity. In 08/09 and 09/10 they were fast, skilled, and exciting. Then the skill dissapears and they're soft. Now what the hell are they? A mess. If the fans and media would just screw off and let the team conduct business and implement some form of long-term strategy outside of public influence they may turn it around. Aside from their run in the spring of 2010, this is a team that's supposedly been on the re-build since Roy was traded in 1996. This club reminds me of the Rangers organization in every way, except for the results this year's Rangers team has produced.

hmmmmmmm, and Bertuzzi was pulled from this game in warm up.

Now I know you did not start this thread so I'm not trying to single you out, but I'm guessing that the hot Modano tip was on the heals of it, generally, being common knowledge or pretty close to this type of scenario. EVEN if Holland planned on trading Zetterberg, and EVEN if he was close to this neighbour both geographically and personally, I doubt he would off-handedly disclose such a specific amount of info. Maybe, when prompted, Holland might have said "we're open for trade talks for Zetterberg if the right package came along", but anything else is hard to believe. Now I'm just speculating here of course, using my best logic. I can't believe this thread even exists, it's so absurd.

Bert with 1, Abby with 2, Commy with 1, Kindl with 1, Ericsson with 1. Edit to add: Only on LGWs does a thread about penalty shots go the fighting route

I wonder how early Pavel gets picked in the "draft".

Bump, for optimism: Tom McCollum, 2011/12 Griffins stats so far. GP: 9 W: 6 L: 3 GAA: 2.78 SV/%: 0.909 Greatly improving numbers.

Before you get a twisty, let me clarify on my original post. The post I responded to stated this. So I said Tatar. Not a top prospect (Smith/Nyquist) but I think many have him as one of our top 3. Switch him with Pullkinen, Jarnkrok, or Sheahan if you want. I was simply pointing out that it would take more than our third best prospect. Thanks for helping me out.
-
Anaheim would be crazy not to make that deal. And Holland would be crazy to offer it. Filpulla is 32nd in league scoring right now, tied with Parise and Perry. Not to mention how good he is defensively. That plus our first or second best prospect? A serviceable role player? AND a first round pick?
-
It’s more like they exchanged punches. Montador hit him first. I doubt he’ll be suspended for that.
-
Tatar, Kindl, and a first rounder fits your description, but I don’t think that would be enough.
-
f*** em. What needs to be done in a situation like this is, move Winnipeg to the West, move Detroit to the East, and just for s***s, move Columbus to the East and move the Penguins to the Pacific. That’ll teach them.

The cup winner picks last. So I guess that Wilson kid maybe?

Logan Pyett, Canada, in 2008

Then: kick Snow in the Wang repeatedly.
-
I say: kick Snow in the balls repeatedly until he gives us Nabokov for a 4th rounder.

Maybe P.K. broke Plakanec's Chara bobblehead or something. Who knows.
-
Well, not having Helm and Homer and Eaves and Mursak and Conner to chose from might have something to do with it?

You know what? I'd glady take a Howard penalty at 3-2 for some 4-on4 hockey in a trade for that disallowed goal. In fact, I would go as far as to say that Howard wasn't penalized because the refs knew they blew the call right away.

1. Pittsburgh 2. Vancouver 3. San Jose 4. St. Louis My four most hated teams in the league. You could ice two full teams of ******* from these rosters. I have no respect for Bieksa, Kesler, Hamhuis, the Sedins, and Burrows.

What about Jarnkrok? Too old?
-
I would love to play the Sharks right now while the Wings are rolling. I bet that would go well.

He shot the puck once there a couple of days ago I think. But yeah, that’s about it really.

Chris Pronger to miss remainder of 11/12 season & playoffs

Competition for Suter and/or Weber just got that more real. -
I agree with your opinion on Ruutu. I think he'd make a great second line winger on this team. Hemsky? I'm not sold on. Not sure this team neads a fragile player and another "pass first" guy.
