It's weird that the NHL with it's salary cap and whatnot likes to promote equality amongst teams and markets. Yet they unfairly promote certain teams over others. Even the NFL has Lions vs Dolphins (hypothetically) on Monday Night Football.

Ouch. Well if he has a measurably good playoffs this spring and puts up good numbers next year then he'll be re-signed accordingly. IMO, this would be a nice problem to be facing in one year's time. It would mean that Jimmy has 100% established himself.

My vote is for a double header: Game 1 - 3PM (eastern) Capitals vs Rangers (great team vs great market) Game 2 - 7PM (eastern) Colorado vs Minnesota

As several people mentioned in yesterday's GDT, it would have been nice to "bank" a couple of those six goals for tonight's game. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Not bad, but yeah, Montreal, Chicago, and Colorado are definitely at a disadvantage. Otherwise, I agree that in this new league of revenue sharing, and the salary cap, ALL expenses should be equal. This includes travel.

and what the hell does Yzerman know about "business"?
-
Yeah, it sounds like he'll stay at Maine for his Junior year. This probably means he'll continue to go to school in the spring. In other words, it sounds like his hockey season has ended. Link: http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2010/03/red_wings_prospect_gustav_nyqu_7.html

The Yzerman goal, if it makes it into these promotional adds, will be awesome. But doesn't anyone else find it weird that this seems like the only one that they're planning that features a play made by a player in a playoffs where his team didn't go on to win the cup? Pretty sure that the Orr, Lemieux, Messier, Roy, and Bourque moments will all concetrate on cup winning runs.

I love how this picture of Fleury shows the puck getting through Well done!!!!!!

Jeez Eva, lighten up. First off, I was trying to be funny. Secondly, I never said it was an illegal goal. But it was definately one of the more memorable Stanley Cup Finals moments of the last 20 years and the play involved two hall of famers.
-
I know they are trying to focus on moments created by superstar type players but I'd love to see them do one of McCarty's goal against Philly in 1997. Or how about one from game 6 in 1999, starting with a shot of Bret Hull's foot in the crease?

No mention of the quality of Bauer's skate blades though

The dude's a midget and he's slow. No thanks.

This is a likely scenario. I would make the arguement that Hudler plays out his contract and stays in Russia next year and that the Wings release Bertuzzi. Ritola is out of minor league options and he will be fighting for 12/13th forward. If the Wings re-sign him as a RFA. Using your numbers: Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m) Tomas Holmstrom ($2.000m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / FREE AGENT Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) / Darren Helm ($1.100m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.250m) Kris Draper ($1.583m) / Justin Abdelkader ($0.900m) / Drew Miller ($0.525m) Mattais Ritola ($0.600m) Nicklas Lidstrom ($3.450m) / Brian Rafalski ($6.000m) Brad Stuart ($3.750m) / Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) Andreas Lilja ($1.250m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($0.900m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) Jimmy Howard ($0.717m) Chris Osgood ($1.417m) That leaves $3.775m to sign a 2nd line winger OR $4.937m if they want to spend to the cap.

I think that this year The Sharks are going to break through. Of those three teams I'd much rather play Chicago. Less travel, iffy goaltending, and a coach that we've owned.

Most unlikely Detroit Red Wings prospect to go big?
rick zombo replied to Off the Post's topic in General
Brian Lashoff. All the tools: big, offensively skiled D-man. Draft status: Undrafted!!!!!!!!! He doesn't crack the top 20 in Hockey Future's Red Wings prospects yet he made the USA World Junior Team. There's your "long shot". The next Rafalski with way more size. -
Buffalo are lucky to be in this game. A good start to the 2nd but that's about it. As far as Howard goes, I watched Miller at the other end kick out a colossal rebound on a Draper shot right into the slot. The difference? LUCK.
-
This. If anything, it will be Ozzie who asks to be traded. But I can't see that happening either.
-
Also, besides the TGC, doesn't Babs have a world junior gold for coaching as well?
-
I hope: a) Jimmy Howard remembers how to play well b) Colorado forgets how to play well
