I just noticed this, but what.the.f*** is Mantha doing on a line with Miele and Cleary????
-
Oh hey, another guy with only a year left on his deal. Methinks the Leafs are hoping he plays well enough to ship him out for a decent draft pick at the deadline. Much like half of their roster.
-
Hey. I understand. I do. I was only teasing you about him being "your boy". That being said, you'd almost have to be crazy to prefer a 3-2 with Smith on the back end over a 1-3-1 with Sheahan in front.
-
Ahhhh. The claim and the proof in one tidy package.
-
Marchenko can move the puck as well as Smith and Kindl (minus the turnovers). To me, that means more offense.
-
Well damn. I'd have less than zero problems with a third pair of Quincey and Marchenko.
-
If the opening roster's going to look like this: Kronwall - Ericsson DeKeyser - Green Quincey - Marchenko Then I'd hardly call that a mistake.
-
You need someone to go into that area and poke around at loose pucks. This team already plays too much on the outside. Also, I think you maybe forget how great Sheahan is down low and around the net. Or maybe you remember, but are just bumping him because someone's got to go to make room for your boy?

Regarless of whether they run a 1-3-1 or 3-2 formation, that 2nd unit needs a body in front. And unless it's Smith (which would defeat the 3-2 set-up) I can't see it being anyone else. Sheahan is great down low and around the crease. He should be on the 2nd unit. And Green should be on the first unit because he's a better PP guy than Kronwall. In fact, I would argue that with the hard minutes Kronwall plays, maybe he shouldn't be on the PP at all. Maybe it should be Kindl. #1 Unit: Abdlekader + Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Tatar + Green #2 Unit Sheahan + Nyquist - Richards - Pulkkinen + Kronwall/Kindl

Yeah. It's pretty safe and very boring. No different than if the Wings made every red part of their jerseys black. Let's pray NYI and don't meet LA in the finals.
-
Still love that logo. But those jerseys are all kinds of blah. Still better than the Captain Highliner ones from the 90s. edit: I guess they're probably trying to be all cool and street for the move to Brooklyn.

Who was it on here that said Smith should be converted to a forward?

That cocky bastard. Thinks he so swag throwing around his money like that. No wonder he's not a team player. Srsly though, what an amazing dude. -
I have no idea. But Rychel is a big boy and apparently played a pretty physical game. Probably got under some skins.

The token enforcer.
-
Gustav Nyquist - Henrik Zetterberg - Justin Abdelkader (1) Tomas Tatar - Brad Richards - Johan Franzen (2) Riley Sheahan - Luke Glendening - Darren Helm (3) Drew Miller - Joakim Andersson - Landon Ferraro (4) Those top two lines look about right. But I can't see that as a third line, and I can't see Andersson playing a regular shift as the forth line center. If that's what Blashill has planned then I'll be dissapointed.
-
Sorry. My bad.
-
Just curious. What kind of changes? W/o Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Richards are the top two centers, and Abdlekader, Nyquist, Franzen, and Tatar are the top four wingers. So there's your logical top six. I'm not thrilled to see Sheahan on a line with Glendenning and Helm though. That just seems like too much of what we didn't like about Babcock's approach.
-
Yep. Holland lost the Cole trade. Just think. In a year's time, Janmark could have still been here, carrying Larkin's gear to the bus. Seriously, get off that lap. The Wings have at least six forward prospects with more upside than that 23 year old. And probably only four of those players will make it. Know what I mean. Great win tonight. Bright, bright future. Fastest team in the NHL in two years.

But apparently he's "physical". That's hockey's equivalent of a Brazilian butt for Frank. -

Cause it has to be either this point of view, or yours. One or the other. Somewhere in the middle requires too much independent thougth. Also, RAINBOW UNICORNZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Tatar has to play that way because he's a smurf. Hummingbird vs bald Eagle. Boy that Eagle sure does float around a lot up there.
