Well, what I stated was fact. FACT 1: Off the ice, in front of the media, the Penguins have been disrespectful and have talked s***. I have no respect for players that behave this way. It's not hockey. FACT 2: The Wings don't do this and it's one of the things I respect the most about them, from Coach right down through the line-up. You could have a team full of guys like Orpik and Scuderi (who I do respect) but throw one Talbot into the mix and my respect for the team as a whole goes bye-bye. These are my parameters for deciding who I respect and don't respect. My personal choice. Far from making me a "Wingtard" don't you think.

The Pens have talked s*** all series long (Talbot's comments regarding Hossa, Pens players accusing the Detroit bench of chirping at each other). Every team gets chippy on the ice. Every team cheats. Every team has guys that other teams fans don't like (Pens fans hate Hossa, Chicago fans hate Kronwall). BUT I can't respect teams that TALK s*** to the media off the ice. Zero respect. Screw the Pens for this reason alone.

The s***tiest thing about tonight's game is that it's far from meddle-proof. If the league wants the Pens to win, then the refs can make it happen. I doubt this will be the case, but the possibility exists. Otherwise, there's no way Detroit loses tonight. Up until now, I think the biggest problem, and someone already touched on it, is that guys like Ericsson and Kronwall and Stuart are a little gunshy right now about playing the body at the blueline. Of course this is because they don't know what the hell the refs are going to call. Ericsson, for instance, gets dinged in game 3 for interference on the same type of play that Gill always gets away with. You know Gill is just going to continue playing his game with confidence, but I think some of the Wing's defensemen are a little confused.

Regardless of who wins tomorrow, it's a little sad to think that guys that have been big parts of this Wings team and guys I really like such as Hudler, may not be back next year. For instance, we all rag on Samuelson, but he scored some big goals over the past two playoffs. There's a good chance he won't be back. I think I'll try and enjoy watching this team, fully intact, on Friday and appreciate this group of players and their accomplishments. Hopefully this doesn't sound too cheesy. Any thought?

In spite of having "******" in the line-up?

We've been through this before. In 2006 when The Wings lost to Edmonton everyone was screaming for Datsyuk's balls. I'm just glad Holland is running this team. Even if they lose on Friday, The Wings have given you ungrateful brats something to cheer about on a regular basis. Singing Hossa was a no brainer. He's underachieving for sure, but he's been more good than bad these playoffs. Also, if the Wings won tonight without Hossa contributing, no one would give a f***. Because they won. Some of you are making good points and your disappointment in Hossa is justified to some degree. But the fact remains, this is a knee-jerk rant fest. Let it alllllllll out :battle:

For sure, all the pressure is on Detroit. That's why I'm not worried.

This thread is ridiculous. I'm as pissed as the next guy with the loss tonight. In fact, thanks to a sub-par effort, I won't get to watch the cup celebration on Friday or most of the game for that matter (my band plays at 10 in another city). But some of you should be embarrassed by all this slander. And some of you, the really pissed one, sound like loser pens fans. Deep breath everyone.

IF IF IF the Wings win tonight, Lidstrom should just present the cup to himself.

Here's what will happen....... To Anaheim: Danny Heatly To Ottawa: Bobby Ryan + 1st round pick

For the most part, all the coaches Detroit have faced have been fairly decent. Except Carlyle.

Two solid lines!!!!!!!!! Franzen - Z - Cleary Filpulla - Datsyuk - Hossa This is huge.

Wings fans should tune out to protest Versus, officiating

Watch CBC. If you can. -
MLive also reports that Holmstrom and Rafalski are not practicing.

First off, this is not a knee-jerk thread. But this is what annoys me the most about the current NHL: If we were to have done a poll here today on LGWs, I would expect at least 80% of members would have predicted a Penguins win tonight. Also, they perhaps would have predicted that it would be the Pens PP that would bail them out. Of course, these two exact things happened. My question: Does the ability for fans like us to call a game, and the nature which it unfolds, ahead of time mean that the NHL has become too transparent? And does this taint the quality of playoff hockey. Personally, I'd like to be wrong a few times. Makes things more exciting.

My only problem is this: There is blatant interference by BOTH teams every shift. EVERY shift. This gives the refs a big fat grenade that they can throw whenever they want. Tied 2-2, Pens need a win, call Ericsson for interference. Sure it was a penalty, but there were about 30 other same-nature penalties that could have been called. Orpik, Gill, and Lebda accounted for most of them. The perfectly timed selectiveness of this particular call is what scares me the most. But whateva..........

More Power Plays for the Penguins? I am SHOCKED

Coaching Goaltending Defense Depth The 4 main ingredients in Stanley Cup Soup. Detroit will win this series.

This thread is LOL. Priceless. Nice work.

Conventional wisdom would have us all buying into a game 3 win at hope for Pitts. I bet even the Pens players are almost taking a game 3 win for granted. I'm not so sure. Usually I get pretty nervous in these situations. But I have a funny feeling the Wings will shock the entire league, win game 3, and take a choke-hold on this series.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh s***. I remember in the draft when the Wings passed on Latendresse only to take Abdlekader 2 or three picks later. People on this board were screaming for Holland's nut-sack on a platter.

Wings/Pens Coldplay Intro video on CBC tonight
rick zombo replied to zetterthancrosby's topic in General
THIS is THE reason why CBC rules. -
6 or 7 Penguins Power Plays in Game 2 could make short work of this thread. Funny, in most series it would be detrimental to the Wings if the refs put the whistles away. "I'll take 5 on 5 hockey for 200 Alex!!!!"

That save on Malkin was the game IMO. If the Wings win with the status quo then Chris is your 2009 Conn Smythe winner. No debate. Which is incredible.
