Sundin would perhaps be willing to sign a 1 year deal. Which would be perfect. Both players would fit in well in Detroit's system.
-
Only Ottawa, Dallas, and Jersey come close. Throw in two cups for Detroit in this time period verses Jersey's one. = Red Wing Domination
-
You mean late in third round? That 2nd rounder went to LA.
-
It means Stuart will get at least 4M.

Hard to say. It's clear they like to build the team from the blue-line out. So don't be surprised if it's a D prospect. But they could stand to invest in a physical North American forward. Or a scoring (right) winger. And of course more goalie depth would be good. I think they'll stick to organizational philosophy and simply draft the player they deem as the best available guy at #30. Regardless of position.

The funny thing is everyone says that the pens are the "team of the future" yet the Wings team is financially structured in a way that their future success, at least for the next 2 or 3 years, may be even more guaranteed then the Pens.

Excellent point. I said this exact thing last night (after I threw up and glued my heart back together). The Dallas series would be the perfect example.

Blame Zetterberg for not getting the puck deep enough to get a line change. But of course no one will do that. And I love Hank as much as the next person. Blame Hank Blame Hudler Blame Osgood Blame the team. Correct?

2004. Calgary were up 3-2 on Tampa. They lost in game 7.

I blame myself. For being stupid.

Any way we can get Karen in a fat suit for tonight's anthem?
-
If anyone not wearing goalie pads wins this year's trophy then it should be #40. No question.

Weak goal or not, Hudler has officially entered the Red Wings' history book with that ginormous goal tonight. For a kid that was too small, too slow, etc. the man has really stepped up in this year's playoffs. It's funny but I'm sure when regulars on this board were lobbying to bring a "gritty" forward like Ryan Malone (his exact piece-of-crap name was thrown around here countless times) to this team over the last few years it was always Hudler that was going the other way. And even then it was a big joke. Like: man, the Penguins would never trade Malone for Hudler. So ******* laughable. I just felt like I had to say this.

Pens again bemoan lack of obstruction calls

f*** THAT ******* f*****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HATE -
HUGE game. Detroit need to keep these young whiney punks in the B league where they belong.
-
QFT. and lol During the game 2 broadcast on CBC they panned to the Detroit press box. Sitting there from left to right was Holland, Nill, Yzerman, and Bowman. All I could do was smile. What an elite group of executives. Any team would die for just one of those four. (edit for grammy)

I thought they called a good game, much better than Devorski/O'Halloran. We've spent a lot of time bitching about the refs. I thought this pair was good tonight. Thoughts?

Lilja has been playing well. Detroit are winning. Give it ^

My thoughts exactly

OMG. Goalie war! Goalie war!!!!!

If Chelios doesn't play in game 2, I highly doubt he will play in Pittsburgh where Therien, with last change, will have the advantage of getting Crosby or Malkin out there for several shifts against Chris.

Yes, you touched on something here. I think Babcock's really digging the Drake-Draper-Sammy line right now. And Hudler has proven he can produce on the 4th line with Helm. If that line can work with Maltby replacing McCarty then I think Babcock does this: Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Homer Filpulla - Mule - Cleary Drake - Draper - Sammy Maltby - Helm - Hudely (as Bob Cole called him on Sat.) That way, Bab's gets a) Franzen on the 2nd line (with a confident Cleary - found the net in game 1) b) to keep that 3rd line together c) a proven 4th line (provided Maltby can replace Darren's role from the Colorado series, chemistry wise) But maybe he says, take the 2nd line from the Colorado series that played so well and factor in that Sammy's hot and you get a 2nd line of Filpulla - Franzen - Sammy. Who knows?

Malone wants players to "get their elbows and sticks up"

Bump for relevance? And a touch of glorious irony? -
The only thing that kept me from hunting Sammy down and breaking his leg in the last series against Dallas, and in general, was the hope that he'd come up clutch at some like he did last year in Game 6 against The Sharks. But it really makes sense that he's playing so well with Draper and Drake. Credit Babcock with the line juggling and Hudler for making it easy for him to do so.
