These are trickle-down reports from the original source, the Toronto Star. Thefourthperiod quoted The Star, and nhlline quoted thefourthperiod. Hardly "all over".
-
Jeez, with the current signings, JR should hang around for a 5year/80M dollar deal with Anaheim or something.
-
as weird as that sounds, me too. Yashin could be the bargain of the year.
-
This basically sums it up yes.
-
There's a good chance Howard will be at least as good as either of these guys. Maybe better in big games under pressure. And he will be cheap as dirt for the first several years playing for the Wings. Why spend big money on Lundqvist or Emery.
-
Well, soon, you'll get your wish. Howard will be the young unexperienced starting goalie next year. Why not one last kick at the cup with Hasek in the meantime?
-
Why would a conference finalist and yearly contender like Detroit take the Leafs' garbage? If Raycroft wasn't good enough to play on a fringe playoff team, what makes anyone think the Wings would be interested.
-
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnndy Sutton please!!!!
-
I'd do this: Hasek = 3.5M Fedotenko = 2.5M Andy Sutton = 2.5M Then trade Hudler, Kronwall, and a 1st rounder to Chicago for Radim Vrbata and Jim Vandermeer. Fedotenko - Datsyuk - Homer Vrbata - Zetterberg - Franzen Cleary - Filppula - Grigorenko Maltby - Draper - Samuelson Kopecky Lidstrom - Vandermeer Rafalski - Sutton Chelios - Lebda Lilja Hasek Osgood * If only it were this easy.
-
Rafalski >>> Schneider
-
I have a feeling that Bertuzzi won't sign with Detroit. Which means Detroit could add another really solid defencemen along with Hasek. And maybe a bargain winger. Like Sutton @ 3M Hasek @ 2M and Nylander for 3.5 maybe?
-
Does anyone think that maybe Holland never planned on re-signing Schneider?
-
For sure, or maybe forget Hudler, sign Hasek for 3M bert for 3M and dip into the "deadline" pot and sign someone like Sutton for 3M, or resign Markov. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Homer Bertuzzi - Filpulla - Franzen Samuelson - Cleary - Grigorenko Maltby - Draper - Kopecky Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Sutton/Markov Chelios - Lebda Lilja Hasek Osgood
-
Well, I never really liked Schneider's game. And I hate the Ducks. So good fit. Have fun being worse in your own end Anaheim. Now the "Ducks" will live up to their name. As many of their forwards will be ducking when High and Wide tees it up from the blueline.
-
Detroit will keep their core obviously and sign Hasek. And, assuming they lose SChneider, markov, and Bert, will still improve on the core of the team by added one quality forward and a defecemen. In short they may not sign a big name player like Smyth, Gomex, Drury, or Briere. they will get a defencemen like Sarich (like the Markov) signing later last summer, and a forward in the mold of maybe even Nylander (who is considered tier 2 when compared to the big name forwrds out there) edit: he will sign these guys for fair and reasonable amounts.
-
= 15M? More like 13M to spend: Hasek 2.5, Bert 2.5, defencemen (Stuart, Sarich, etc) 3.5, forward (Kozlov, Nylander, etc.) 4M Or Hasek 2.5, Schneider 4.5, Smyth 6M Or Hasek 2.5, Smyth 6, Bert 2.5, defencemen (Hill, McGillis) 1-2M

ahhhhhhhhhhh right.
-
I predict now that he will be significantly better than Kronwall.
-
I agree. Tkachuck is a big body with good hands and no chronic health issues. 3.5M might be a touch high, but they traded a 1st round pick for the rights to negotiate with him. The Blues obviously like Keith. And they have plenty of space. IMO 3M would have been better for the "market", but there's nothing wrong with theBlues giving him 3.5.
-
From MLive. http://blog.mlive.com/redwingsinsider/ His numbers basically check out. But his theory is based on a 51M cap. But he suggests that the Wings could sign both Smyth and Schneider.
-
Another option might be to front load Smyth's contract so the cap hit decreases in two years when it's time to sign Henrik. This is possible, correct?
-
Maybe he's intentionaly giving off this vibe as a negotiating tactic to get his UFAs to sign for less.
-
Sooooooooo, lets say Detroit signs Smyth for a long term deal at say 5.5M/yr. In the 2009-10 season, Zetterberg will be a UFA. After this season, Lidstrom will be a UFA. Datsyuk is sogned for 6.7/yr. How will this team be able to sign Zetterberg in 09-10? You'd have: Datsyuk - 6.7M Lidstrom - 7M Smyth - 5.5M Zetterberg - 5.5-6M for a total of approx. 25M even if the cap is at 55M that only leaves 30M to fill out a roster which needs 19 more players.
