Yeah, I see what you're saying. But, the game winning goal is always awarded this way. Zetterberg was tied for the regular season lead in GWG. This obviously does not mean that all 10 of these goals were late in the game to break a tie, or in overtime. Some could have been the 3rd goal in a 6-2 win, in a game where the Wings lead 6-0. This is just how they award GWG.

Oh I know. Oh for sure. For sure. No really. I saw it last night. Detroit felt the cold hard wrath of Calgary's "authority". Personally, I would rather get hit once by Phaneuf than 7 times by Franzen. And that's pretty much how the game went.
-
SRSLY? Because Lidstrom scored the 2nd goal. And it took two goals to win, since Calgary only scored 1.
-
Yeah, I was going to say something about how you're not exactly Mr Positive around these parts. But I'll give you credit, for eating crow.
-
You guys are all crazy. WE can take Calgary as lightly as we want. WE can be as cocky as we want. WE are NOT PLAYING hockey. And it looks like The Detroit Red Wings, the actual hockey team, are well prepared for this series.

Confirmed. Regehr out. http://www.mlive.com/weblogs/snapshots/ind..._04.html#248085

I agree with you in general. BUT, I think the Wings have to play their game. They need to be physical, but they need to control the tempo, and the puck. What I don't want to happen is for the Flames to suck the Wings into running around trying to match them pysically, If the Wings can take hits and still make plays, go hard to the net, and win battles down low and along the boards, that will be enough grit to win the series. Detroit can't play a ***-for-tat physical series with Calgary, but they can do the things I mentioned above, and be successful.
-
But the Wings are a better team this year as well. In some very key areas. Mainly, between the pipes.
-
Vancouver played well, but needed a couple of bounces in regulation to even make it to overtime. If Dallas play all series the way they played last night, they should be able to win it.
-
I think Hull has several hundred assholes. The best part of Hull's "prediction" is that he's probably basing it on the 04 series. And he was by far the laziest, least caring, "I can't wait to get on the golf course" Wings that series.

Regehr, Bertuzzi: More than a fair trade for the Wings. Now we just need Franzen to target Regehr's knee when he comes back (because I'm sure Stuart will be two handing Hank's back all series)
-
Gotta love opening a thread that says Bertuzzi is expected to play only to find out in said thread that he is in fact not>

the hawks won something? wow

Good. Declining ticket sales. More incentive for the Wings to win.

The Wings better shut these guys up!

Well, The Hockey News here in Canada "gives sh*t about hockey" and both of the magazines playoff prediction writers/experts have the Flames in 6. http://www.thehockeynews.com/en/news/news.asp?idNews=24252 In fact, it's the only unanimous decision the two make. Every other series has them splitting thier predictions. Detroit are getting very little respect. Just the way I like it. -
I think the Franzen - Filpulla - Sammuelson line (if that is in fact the combo) could really do some damage as a third or forth line. And trust me, it will take heroic play form the #3 and #4 lines to win. As it always does. Depth matters!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Also: The Flames don't have a huge edge in team speed like they did in 2004. Detroit are a faster team now, and I dare say Calgary are slower than they were in 2004. Detroit's 5 on 5 play has greatly improved, and their transition game is better.
-
My two main concerns: 1) Health 2) Officiating The Flames are much healthier than Detroit. And you know that playoff officiating will favour Calgary. If Detroit can overcome these two disadvantages, they'll win in 6.
-
Detroit will be ready for the trap, and Hasek is not Legace.

This doesn't sound so good.

Well you said if Wellwood hadn't been hurt for so long he'd "be the winner". And maybe Kaberle will be a finalist this year. The League has to throw the Leafs some sort of bone
-
Wellwood was on pace for 71 points. Not sure if that would have been enough. Enough to maybe be a finalist. But not the winner. Kabelre was on pace for about 63 points if he had played all 82 games. Not sure about those point totals either. edit: St. Louis, datsyuk and Huselius look like the finalists to me.

San Jose do not have the goaltending.

Anyone know where I can find a picture of the entire 2007 Wings team?

Lapointe and Vernon look like boyfriends. -
Unlike Ryno, Ritola, Grigorneko, etc. the Wings did not have to sign Emmerton so soon. Or have him play in GR. They must really like what they see. And they haven't been wrong yet with any of their recent young prospects.
