A little conspiracy theory action here. Just wondering if the thought occured to anyone here. Could it be Zetterberg's wrist that's causing him troubles and not his back? It just seems so obvious, what a team like Calgary will focus on when Zetterberg comes back for the playoffs. They'll be laying the lumber on his spine non-stop. What if it's really his wrist. And the team's trying to disguise the injury. Seems like a far-fetched theory I know.
-
Yes, but Calgary are worse on the road than Detroit. So they have the same dilemma, except more so.
-
Here's one for the all the stat nerds (I'm talking to you Eva ) I need to know the answer. Question: Since the 4 round, best of 7, playoff format was introduced, which team has won the cup while losing the least amount of games along the way. 16 - ? Someone help me out please.
-
I know we've been talking about potential first round matchups for a while now. But it's time to air it out. Who do you want the Wings to play? I don't want Calgary at all. After them, no San Jose. I want Minnesota, after them, I take Dallas.

Plus, uhhhh, Kenny hired Babcock.
-
Don't forget some of the moves Kenny didn't make. Like not signing Samsonov to $3.5/yr for 2 years. And not signing Gerber. And not signing Belfour. And not signing Anson Carter. And not selling the ranch to get Forsberg, Tkachuk, or Guerin. Holland has gone from throwing money around like a drunken cowboy to establishing himself as one of the shrewdest GMs in the league. And this team of his could still be done for the season in 8 or 9 games' time. Crazy.
-
But that would mean they went 16-12. And no one's ever won 4 best of sevens to win the cup.
-
I don't think anyone's gone 16-12. I'm not sure who's come the closest.
-
According to Wikkepedia, they only lost two games. One to Detroit, and one to Winnipeg. They were at risk of losing a third game to Boston when the power wnet out at the Garden's. But the 88 Oilers team sounds right to me.

One of Quincey's upsides is his steady, dependable play in the defensive zone, so yes. Also, no Kronwall means Schneider needs to elevate his game.

The last time Lou replaced the caoch with himself, the Devils did not go all the way. When he replaced Ftorek late in 2002-03 with Robinson, it worked. But, like I said with Lou behind the bench, it will not work this time.

Worked back in 2003. Is not going to work this year.

I understand your point, but who the hell's whining? Also, the playoffs are all all about matchups. Who you get, and when. While it would be great to plow through all the best teams and beat them all in full on game 7 double overtime glory, that's not and never has been how it works. And sometimes it takes a favorable matchup along the way to open up a team's path to the finals.

OK. As long as they get a guy like Sarich, and let Lang walk.
-
The Lang money should be spent on a scoring winger. Even if the Wings resign Bertuzzi and Calder, they'll still need 1 scoring winger, and a physical stay-at-home defencemen. Flip and Rex will be fine playing up the middle, either could play on the second line. They need capable wingers. And re-sign Pavel, and Todd, Markov, and maybe Calder. It would look like this: Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi UFA Scoring Winger - Hudler - Franzen Filpulla - Draper - Grigorenko/Calder Kopecky - Cleary - Holmstrom Sammuelson Lidstrom - Markov Sarich - Kronwall Chelios - Lebda
-
Here's how the rule breaks down. MaGeough gets hammered, covers himself in his own feces, and lets everything go.
-
Maltby hits, and forechecks. So does Cleary. Neither will sit.
-
Was Homer on the 4th line with these guys last night?
-
It will be one of the kids. I'd say Hudler. Unfortunately.
-
Now he's talking "hopefully" the last two or last game of the season. From Mlive: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/weblog/index..._03.html#246497

Where's Holmstrom?
-
I love Pavel but he is nowhere near Crosby
-
Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Calder - Hudler - Bertuzzi Franzen - Filpulla - Grigorenko Kopecky - Draper - Cleary Sammuelson Lidstrom - Kronwall Sarich - Lebda Chelios - Kindl Quincey Hasek Osggod

It's pretty suprising to me that some of you have changed your opinion of Hasek soley based on this article. He has always been this way. Like I said, he's just been misunderstood and unfairly portayed in the media.
