I like Lang. But if Detroit does trade for Forsberg, with intentions of signing him, than Lang will not resign with the team. Actually, I don't believe he'll resign anyway. So this makes sense to me. I'll be amazed if Holland can pull off three major deals before Feb 27. But he does have some cap space.

Blimey!!!!!!!!!

Because Howard just made 63 0f 66 saves in his last 2 games in GR. And I think Detroit would like to have him play at least one NHL game this year. And who better to give him the nod against than Philly. That being said, I think Joey will get the nod.

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?
rick zombo replied to Howe's Bony Elbow's topic in General
My only problem with Forsberg is that he's not a pure goal scorer. He's a playmaker. -
If Bertuzzi can play (is healthy) then pull the trigger. But it has to be either Williams and a 1st OR Hudler and a 2nd. Not Hudler AND a 1st. Then send either Hudler or Williams to Tampa for Fedotenko. Then roll like this: Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Fedotenko - Lang - Holmstrom Samuelson - Filpulla - Cleary Maltby - Draper - Kopecky/Langfield That's a roster I can get really excited about.
-
And because Jokinen's contract is extremely fair. But I con't see him leaving Florida. It was just an example.
-
And you have him playing left wing?
-
Fedotenko has big-game goalscoring potential (see 2004 SCF). Aquiring him and a guy like Lapointe or hell, even Chris Simon could be all the tinkering this team needs to at least win 2 rounds.

Montreal must have a trade or two in the works. They have just over 1 million in cap space. Shedding Sergei would be a dream come true for Gainey at this stage. Nashville have 6M in cap space. Don't be suprised they pick him up.

I have to agree with Barnes here. This isn't a case of Babcock picking on Hudler in my opinion. I just don't think he's ready for top six minutes. That being said, a little more ice time for Rex wouldn't hurt the team. Personally, it's nice to see a 4th line that has the ability to score. Hudler's goal against the Rangers was fantastic. It jumpstarted the comeback, and he paid the price in the crease to poke it in. A scoring Hudler on the 4th line only means more offensive depth. Which is essential for any kind of playoff run. Can't we all just be happy with this?

I would only trade Hudler if the deal were too good to refuse. I would not trade Hudler to rent a guy like Roberts for what might amount to one, maybe two, playoff seires. But if it was for someone like Norstrom who had another full year left on his contract, or as part of a package deal for a guy like Jokinen who is signed relatively cheap for three more seasons, then I would make the deal. I'd just as soon hang on to the kid though and go looking for a few big wingers this summer to play with some of these smaller guys. I'd rather trade Schneider.

Hudler is probably the best "pure" goal scorer in Detroit. And I'm not so sure he will be traded.

Foster was speculating on a blockbuster trade involving the Wings. And he said he DIDN"T think it was Forsberg. So rest easy. At least in this thread.
-
Exactly, and it benifits the Wings if he stays in school. They have a longer period of grace before they have to sign him.

This, from the article: Jan Mursak has Datsyukian offensive skills and has been having a monster year in Saginaw this year. Sounds like the guy has spent some time watching these players. Some things in the article that caught my eye: - he thinks Ericcson will be a star in the new NHL. A star! That's encouraging. - Grigorenko will be in North America next season. - after Ericcson, Emmerton is his favorite Wing's prospect right now notable exclusion from his article: Shawn Mattais

SFE: Wings looking at 'star player' by deadline

I know. To blame Lapointe for that series is absurd. You can't blame one player for an entire series loss. Besides, it was Osgood's fault. -

and he can score in the playoffs. -

The flipside is that the Panthers are going to want a big return if they trade Bert. Just so they don't look more dumb then they already do for that trade. -
Schneider for Nagy and Scatchard
-
Gange would be a dream winger for Hank
-
Not true. Cujo was bought out as a result of the salary cap. Rather, the club turned down the option on his final contract year.
-
Yes. Kronwall and Markov both love to take the body. If they can stay healthy, it will make the Wings alot tougher to play against. I agree with Barnes though, that the Wings need a crease clearing defencemen. Perhaps they can move Schneider to make this happen. Lidstrom - Markov Kronwall - Crease Clearer Chelly - Lilja/Lebda Much tougher D to play against then what they have now.
-
Chelios, Lebda, and Lilja would probably share the #5 and 6 slots between them.
