Holland's like a whimpy boyfriend being played. Leaving lovey-dovey messages to his lady telling her how much he loves her, while she's out trying to bang other guys.

Eklund: Shanahan expected to sign 2 years/9.8 Million

Glad the idiot GM won't be Holland. -
Eklund: Biron could get traded to the Wings

Lang's expensive and Buffalo are cheap. -
I give the hell up.

I think Kindl and Quincey will be good. Kronwall for sure. Kolosov is the most interesting wildcard of the bunch though.

I still find it a bit suprising that people are elated about Filpulla, Hudler, and Bootland when it's seems quite clear that Howard struggled in a big game. He is rated as a higher prospect than those three guys. For me, him playing poorly almost overshadows the great play of these other three prospects. Anyone know what I mean?
-
So what happened with Howard. Was he terrible? Is that why he didn't start the 3rd. I thought he was a big game goalie? Fill me in people. Please

Where did you find this. Link? When I go to there site, they have the old organization ranking from 2005.

lots of times the 1st pick turns out to be a bust look no further than Patrik Stefan Sidney Crosby, Alexander Oveckin, Rick Nash, Ilya Kovalchuk, Vincent Lecavalier, Joe Thornton, Ed Jovanovski, Mats Sundin, Mike Modano, Mario Lemieux, etc etc. Lots of busts there. Going by this list, which is subjective, only four #1 overall draft picks are listed as busts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_Draft_Busts Hmm...their definition of 'bust' is "a player, usually a first-round draft pick, who has failed to live up to the expectations levied upon the player when he was drafted by the organization over a period of time." So why is Daigle listed, yet Lecavalier is left off? Lecavalier was given better circumstances than Daigle yet did only marginally better offensively for the first five seasons of their careers. Hard to make a case for Lecavalier as less of a bust than Daigle, when Daigle was put into the second center role initially because of his size compared to Yashin's, and never quite got the ice time Lecavalier was just handed no matter how bad he was. Especially since Lecavalier received just as much hype as Daigle--Daigle was very hyped by the Canadian media and especially Quebecois, but not even a consensus no.1 pick. Lecavalier was the outright top pick in everyone's mind, and was being called the 'Michael Jordan of hockey.' That's a stretch IMO. You can't compare Lecavalier to Daigle. He turned out to be 10 times the player. Daigle's career was mismanaged and unfortunate. But the fact is Lecavalier's career has had some major highlights. .

Well if Scotty hated him, then there must have been something wrong with him.

I just wonder how many of you lamenting the Cross deal would have also bitched and moaned about aquiring Larry Murphy back in 97. Remember, that guy was booed on a regular bases on a Leaf team that was "the mega-suck". And look what he did in Detroit. Why? BECAUSE HE FIT WELL IN THE SYSTEM. If Cross can play 1/8 as well as Murphy, I'll call it a good deal. And I think he can.

A single tear just landed in my coffee. So awesome. (assuming it's true. there have been conflicting reports no?)

The team is mostly fine. They need help on the blueline. I'm not opposed to trading Hudler. But, as much as I like Salei, I'd hate to lose Hudler for a guy who will be a Unrestrcited free agent at the end of the season (if in fact he will be)
-
Man, I'd trade Lang for Sundin in a heartbeat. I can't see in any way, how this would not be an major upgrade.

Anyone else see this? http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../602090326/1128 _________________________________________________________ From: v palmer City: Brooklyn, N.Y. A friend from Latvia … told me that (Wings prospect) Igor Grigorenko is definitely not the same player he was before car accident. He described him as a very average player, even for Russian league standards, and that he is definitely not NHL star material anymore. … Same friend told me some years ago that Zetterberg and Datsyuk will be NHL stars, so he knows what he is talking about. ___________________________________________________________________ Any opinions on this?

RW 29 Power Forward Great Leader. What would it take and who would you donate to the Yotes to get him. I'd give them Datsyuk and Hudler. Imagine next year's team UFA - Zetterberg - Doan Shanny - Lang - Grigorenko Maltby - Franzen - Samuelson Bootland - Cleary - Homer Filpulla/Kopecky Lidstrom Kronwall Schneider UFA Quincy UFA Goalies

What prospects will make the Wings Next year?
rick zombo replied to ufcredwingfan's topic in Prospects
Grigs is a RWer. Why no Lidstrom? And unless the FA defencemen are Rob Blake and Chara, that roster will be about 8 million under the cap. And that's not happening. -
According to TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=14966...669&hubname=nhl -The Edmonton Journal suspects that the Detroit Red Wings may be prepared to deal C Robert Lang and his $3.8-million contract. Valid or speculation? Not sure.
-
You can never go wrong shoring up the goaltending. Nabakov can be signed this summer (UFA) for less, and without compensation going the other way. That might be an option.
-
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don't say theses things. He destined for greatness don't you know. (sarcasm) Yeah a big kid who can't skate and is lazy. Maybe Central Scouting was right to rank him 53rd or whatever last sping.
-
Ha! You're hilarious. You're now quoting central scouting? The same central scouting that ranked (final rankings) Abdelkader 25th among North American skaters and had Lantendresse ranked 52nd? How can you openly say Lantendresse is better than Abdelkader (ignoring central scouting) then use central scouting to "back up" your love for Little. Do you run a double standard often? Zombo: Seth:

He hates to fly -- honest. Carl Brewer was another nervous flyer who could have had a legendary career. Well, it says he attended the Wings training camp the year he was drafted. And unless they held it in Sweden or he came by boat, he definitely was on an airplane.
