Meh. Good trade for the Preds. Still not sold on them making a run, but good on them for trying. Man Poille loves to wheel and deal eh? With all these early deals, the deadline is going to be sloooooooooow. Be prepared for TSN and Sportsnet to cleave their way into Eklund territory just to generate content.

Every loss is disappointing. Agreed. I just wish I had some sort of hope that they might someday be able to win in OT or SO (with Howard).

I respectfully disagree. For one, Feds was never a captain, and never would have been. Secondly, Yzerman and Lidstrom were generational legends. Yzerman was Detroit’s boy and Lidstrom has more hardware than Tony Stark. That’s what it takes to get your number retired in Detroit. Fedorov was never that type of player. He’s just not rafter-jersey material for these reasons. I feel like I have to say this: I really really loved Fedorov. He was the “coolest” Red Wing I’ve ever seen. Cooler than Z even, and that’s saying something. When I was in my teens, playing hockey, I wanted to be him. But I see no scenario that ultimately gets his number retired. Just my opinion.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?
rick zombo replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I'm doing it. I'm linking another Malik blog post full of trade speculation (in the comments section). http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/st.-james-khan-kulfan-red-wings-will-stick-with-3-goalie-rotation...for-now Wings keeping three goalies with Mrazek backing up Howard. Could Monster be dealt by the deadline? IMO, it has more to do with a combo of trying to nurture Mrazek at the NHL level + the play of Coreau and McCollum in GRs then it does with any sort of trade involving Gustavsson. -
Only chance he had is if he continued to play here and retired as a Red Wing. But it would still be doubtful. You had to be "that guy"

You baited him pretty good, but his response was pretty juvenile and unprofessional. -

Not sure if you're talking about me Kip, so I would like to clarify that I posted the link for discussion, but advised to take it with a grain of salt and that it was third hand news. I know that one of your things is that hypothetical asking prices are always inflated and trades usually involve smaller pieces, so yes, in that sense your cautionary lesson is a good one. -

Did you read JJ's article today over at WiiM? http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2015/2/12/7994839/red-wings-trade-rumors-edmonton-oilers-jeff-petry -

Yeah, I got that impression too. But I barely believe that this deal was even in place. So I'm certainly not going to trust this source's description of Holland's reaction/handling of the offer. Plus, as if they're going to report that Holland "laughed" Murray off the phone. As if he'd even do that. He's a professional, not a 12 year old or a member of LGWs. -

I don't think anyone is saying he was willing to make the deal. What is being said is that Murray wanted one or Larkin or Mantha and that Holland said no. It's all speculation anyway, but I thought the logistics of this hypothetical scenario were pretty clear. -

which is a lot more believable, IMO. either way, I'm glad kenny didn't give up a prized prospect for myers' potential.... Agreed. That bottom portion was added to the article after I posted the original link. I just want to be clear so it doesn't look like I ignored that part in the hopes of creating more drama or something. -

I always thought that McGuire reported that. Or was McGuire the one who claimed that Detroit's offer for Nash blew the Ranger's offer out of the water. So much hearsay and conjecture. -

Take this with a grain of salt because it's Malik quoting "someone" who is quoting Bob MacKenzie but apparently Murray wanted Larkin AND Mantha for Myers. http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/report-sabres-wanted-larkin-and-mantha-for-myers -
My pulse is racing. Tell me more.

What bothers me the most is that Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and the rest of the leadership group don’t look like they give many s***z about this game. Who knows, maybe they don’t? And Tatar is invisible.
-
No. What’s fun is watching you and Leftwinger dutch rudder one another over how much this team sucks. Some middle ground would be nice. You know, actual level-headed hockey discussion instead of this doom-porn. Jesus christ. Jerkwater, USA. More like Knee-jerkwater USA wha?
-
Should have been goalie interference on that one.
-
Funny we only have these conversations when they’re losing.

Based on one period of hockey after going 9-1 in the last 10? Oooooooooooooookay.

Define "pick" in both cases. Also, not sure where Jagr would slot in. He demands PP and top six minutes. -
Yeah. Based on the numbers. But the tinfoil hat wearing, Bettman hating, fan in me thinks that the only way Pitts wins tonight is with help from the officials. Thus it will be so. If not, I'll be "positively surprised". Seems to be common sentiment.

Heading to trade deadline, can someone help me understand
rick zombo replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
Well, they'd already have a decent head start with Gauthier. -
You're right. My bad. Too many players and I got confused.

And it's not like Babcock would ever put a guy deserving of "top four" minutes on the bottom pair. The same way he would never put a top six winger on the third/four line. Right? Also, I said "start out", not "etch in stone". Yeesh.
