That's the saddest thing about the Weiss situation IMO. This time two months ago we were all clamoring on about how "done" he was. He faced some adversity with his health, and did/said all the right things to get himself back on the roster. AND THEN he produced. So, within this context, I would loooooove to know what he's doing wrong, or more specifically, what someone like Franzen is doing better.

But he was certainly "heavy" enough

I think Weiss could have a 1G, 1A, +1 game and Babcock would still stick him with The Clubhand Twins on the 4th line if he though he was being weak on the puck or something.

Well, if the Penguins' late 1st rounder + Colonel Klink can get them Perron, I'd like to think the Wings' higher 1st rounder + Ouellet + Kindl + Andersson could get them a legit top four blueliner. Problem is, that package is good enough to land the type of D-man that most teams won't want to part with.

Alright. I’ve avoided wild trade proposals but I’m bored. Trade: Tatar + Helm + Smith and a 1st for Vermette and Yandle. We would see it as overpayment but it’s actually fair. Arizona might not even take it. Anyway, the team would be left with all of their prospects in-stable, and alleviate the log-jam at forward. Plus they get back what they lose in two-way play and get a legit 2nd line centre in Vermette who they would have no trouble re-signing. Yandle comes as advertised. Arizona gets good young players and a high pick back, which is what they want. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Abdlekader Weiss - Vermette - Nyquist Franzen - Sheahan - Jurco Miller - Glendenning - Andersson Cleary Kronwall -Ericsson DeKeyser - Yandle Quincey - Ouellet Kindl Not bad I guess. Even it ended up being a lateral move, it’s still a shake-up. And Holland would remind his underachieving players and the rest of the league that he still knows how to make a trade. Never happen. I probably just wasted 10 minutes here.

Only on LGWs would we ***** about Holland not trading for a guy the that the team has no use for.

I actually agree with this. Same can be said about a lot of the Canadian kids.

With regards to Weiss: Babcock doesn’t care about who gets “points”. He doesn’t care about who scores. He cares about guys being “heavy” on the puck. As long as everyone is heavy on the puck someone’s going to produce. Doesn’t matter to him if it’s Weiss or Helm or Nyquist. That’s how his system works IMO. Compared to Helm, Glendenning, Jurco, Sheahan, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and even Tatar and Goose, Weiss is weak on the puck. Babcock doest like this so he plays less, regardless of his production.

LOL. Listen dude, I’m from PEI, and I love my country. Especially Newfoundlanders. But that game was a complete and utter travesty. If that was the NHL and the US were the Wings, this forum would be in meltdown mode right now. On a positive note, Larkin won the McEichel sweepstakes, just like I predicted.

I’ve only seen it mostly one way. Take that Lazar goal away and call a few more legit penalties and this game is completely different.
