Mom and I were in Toronto visiting relatives. I was 12. We had no tickets to the Leafs game but someone knew someone that worked at Maple Leaf Gardens. They brought us in the back door used to access the zamboni bay and took us through a bunch of tunnels and stairwells to find and usher, who then proceeded to find us season ticket seats that they knew were going unclaimed for the evening. It was a crappy game (vs Rangers) with no star power and I've always hated the Leafs. But man, that place was awesome.

I've only been to a handful but JLA and the Bell Centre are both great. Maple Leaf Gardens was such a cool arena too with it's one long-sloped side and generally weird layout. I wish I could have made it to Boston Gardens as well.

Being negative is easier than being positive. It's also easier, as a sports fan, to ***** and moan about current maladies then it is to be pragmatically optimistic about the future. No one knew that Weiss was going to turn it around this quickly. The same way no one knew that Sheahan, Tatar, Nyquist, Jurco etc would be so valuable to this team so quickly. The thing is, there were those of us who "hoped" this would happen, who "hoped" this team would be good and maybe even contend again while Datsyuk and Zetterberg were still players. But there were certainly those of us who seemed to be hoping for failure. Either as a way to promote some sort of "I told you so" agenda, or maybe because of just plain old sports-style masochism.

Weird. Are the Sens delusional about what kind of team they have? They have a sub-500 record (counting SO loses). IMO, that's exactly where they should be, give or take. Only because there are some dumb GMs/desperate teams out there. *cough* Philly *cough* One thing that is awesome though? Holland finally has some legitimate prospects to move if a deal comes along. I know that seems obvious, but up until this year, almost every NHL team always had better prospects to offer up in trades. Not so much anymore.

No. The logic being sold to us here by the Leaf apologists in our mix is that Bernier was way too focused on being an average hockey player on an average team to even think to google Mandela. Like, that guy's in the zone, 24-7. he barely has time to text or check his emails. He's probably never even watched tv or gone to a movie. Actually, scratch that. He probably saw Idris Elba play the gatekeeper in Thor because it's an action movie, but has no clue that he played Mandela as well. I don't know why we don't all just admit that most jocks are kind of dumb, especially Leafs.

People love Helm. Fans love Helm. I love Helm. But I still agree with your logic. I'll even go further and make the radical statement that Sheahan is, in fact, a 2nd line center already. Mickey Redmond and I agree that he's that good. But besides all that, and besides all Helm vs Boedker rhetoric, one important detail is getting over looked. Phoenix would probably want waaaaaaay more than Helm in that trade.

Has to be a Wings fan that created these because 1. the Wings slogan was by far the most flattering 2. no non-Wings fan would ever be that kind - they'd make some stupid, out-dated, cliched, comment about the city or the russian five or how the average age of the team is 62. 3. These slogans are clever enough that I feel like they had to be written by someone with intelligence, aka a Wings fan (some of the present LGWs company excluded, of course )

IMO, the problem with trading Helm is this: Holland will probably never get back, in assets, what Helm is worth to this team.
