Babcock "I don't think it will be my final year here"
rick zombo replied to trule23's topic in General
Who the hell would ever want to leave Detroit to go to The Leafs anyway? Seriously though......... -
Nah man. Quincey's supposed to suck, so he sucked. Also, Cleary sucked hard. So did Jason Williams and Derek Meech.
-
You’ve been the one eager to point out that they were going to have a bad year based on ZERO games. So, whatever.
-
Not necessarily. Part of why Nestrasil is in the line-up is because of waivers. Mantha may have been sent down to GRs just because he was exempt.
-
Yeah. They should pair him with Kronwall for these first few games. Here's hoping the process is taking a while because Holland's trying to include Kindl in a package for that even elusive RHed top 4 D man. A man can dream right?

Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?
rick zombo replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
On the plus side, this might be the biggest group of forwards we've played in a while. A pretty decent mix of size to go with the smaller, faster skilled guys. Abdlekader Franzen Sheahan Jurco Nestrasil Andersson Half of the forwards at least 6'1"/200 lbs. I know Franzen and Andersson aren't overly physical, but as a Wings fan, I'll take what I can get. -
Our forward group should be as good, or better, than Boston's. Defence? That's another story.

more NHL wisdom: Chris Pronger may work for Dept of Player Safety

Is this because of the full moon? -
Sure. And you could add Dallas and Carolina and Tampa and Philly and Washington to the list pre-cap too. My point is that parity was supposed to mean different teams winning. Over the last five years we've only had 3 champs. No different than the pre-cap era where Colorado, Detroit, and Jersey took turns winning for 7 or 8 years (with one Dallas cup in 99). So what has the cap accomplished? More revenue for owners. That's all. I can't deal with another Blackhawks championship. Doesn't seem fair.

Yup, and so are the Hockey News. In fact, they are predictiong Florida to finish higher in the standings http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/2014-15-nhl-predictions-division-and-stanley-cup-picks/ On a related note, wtf happened with this parity thing. LA-Boston-Chicago? How the f*** is that any different than the days of Colorado-Detroit-New Jersey. Sometimes I feel like all the salary cap has accomplished is to neuter The Red Wings.
-
Over the long haul I think that Jurco and Sheahan will both be better than at least one of Tatar and Goose.
-
What are you talking about? We have, like, 7 on the roster right now
-
Not if you factor in durability. In which case Helm is Miller's beotch.
-
Come on Kip. Those guys are all good for 40 goals. Between the 5 of them. If things go well. f***

Unreal. Nice find. I wonder if this was around the time Bowman was trying to trade Yzerman for Yashin? What’s crazy to me is imagining Yzerman as a "run-and-gun" player. He definitely did an amazing job in the 2nd half of his career cementing his legacy as a Selke-type guy. Also, Bob Duff!!

I guess an optimist would look at this clusterf*** of a situation and say “Hey, It’s cool that we have this 21 year old, future top 4 D man that’s already good enough to play in the NHL. And what’s that? There’s at least two more? Sweet”. Some of the people losing their s*** over Ouellett’s demotion were the same posters who were cautioning the rest of us to not over-rate the prospects.

All I’m getting from this thread is that some Wings fans have a serious lack of respect for Drew Miller. Of course it all depends on what your idea of a fourth liner is. For example, Brian Burke’s idea of a fourth liner is someone who can bench press the tough guy playing on the third line. Babcock seems to like guys that can complete a full 82 game schedule, be smart, sort of versatile, and kill some penalties. At one point last year Miller was getting 2nd line minutes because of injuries. As ridiculous as that seems, image Barch or McGrattan or Bollig squaring off against Partick Kane or Marion Hossa for a full game Also, why does this thread even exist? We’re quoting Krys Barch now? This guy is a ******. IMO, of course.

I'll be surprised if we see Alfie before 2015. But I totally get your point. I know Holland likes insurance/depth but is it too much to hope that in 2015-16 he leave 2-3 spots wide open for competition in camp? Probably.

Good point. Your logic seems downright Spockly in comparison to some other (over)reactions. -
LOL. Tell me this. The Babcock quote you slapped on your "factual" post wasn't a lame-ass attempt at some sort of coy editorial? You weren't trying to stir the pot? If I had a dog that woke me becasue of a fire I doubt he'd add "and by the way m*****f*****, the fire is all your fault"
-
No s***. It's like Holland's driving a car with two bald rear tires but refuses to change them becasue then they'll go to waste.
-
We really need this thread? As if this roster won't change a zillion times between now and Christmas. Hell, it'll probably change again before Thursday. Also, in case you haven't noticed, the best players on the 23 man roster will actually play. The 23 man roster is decided by Holland. So implying Babcock is a hypocrite is actually kind of naive.

The only way I'd trust Smith on a 1-3-1 PP is if he was the 1 closest to the net. -
