If you Could Change Five Outcomes in Hockey History
Seraph replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I didn't dig the last Olympic outcome. I have always been a USA hockey fan and it was so amazing to have tied the gold medal game with only a few seconds left. Then in OT, the Crosby parade ensued and stunk up the party. EDIT: I have noticed that a lot of us Wings fans did cheer for the Ducks in 03 when they beat us and went to the finals. Kind of a strange phenomenon considering how much we've hated on them more recently after a hard series loss. Maybe it was because everyone was so baffled by Gigure's streak, and no one wanted the Devils to match us in cups. Or maybe we were all mesmerized by the old jerseys and wanted the Disney movie ending. It's kind of awkward thinking back now and remembering that they were quite seriously called, "The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim." -
They celebrate blog posts and central division championships. I'm pretty satisfied sticking with what we've accomplished.

The vid where he talks about it: http://video.thescore.com/watch/flyers-post-on-giroux-shootout-goal

Home boy had his head so far down, he led with it into the hit. And this is a hit he had already looked up and saw coming a second earlier. Kind of ridiculous. Not Kronwall's fault and the head was not specifically targeted. Clean hit. Hope he feels better.

If my impression of Babcock isn't completely off, I doubt he thought twice about the streak in putting together his line-up. How are we sitting around complaining about winning? You play every night to win, and that's what we did.
-
Is it just me, or did Turco fall off the curve pretty sharply? I remember he was considered a top goalie once upon a time, and overnight people started throwing him around like a bag of pucks. Maybe I'm just getting old.

If a move had happened, you'd all be complaining about how we paid too much for it. This is precisely why Holland didn't pull the trigger on any deals. But now you are complaining about how we made no trades. You can't have it both ways. I'm sure viable offensive options were investigated and found to be suboptimal to the asking price. Only with the Red Wings would you find fans complaining about the line-up when we're jockeying for first in the league. Have more faith in your boys. It'll be an interesting year, I think.

2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET
Seraph replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
For the love of lord, let something that's not stupid but preferably awesome happen. -
We can't move him for another 2 years, folks. He has a NTC for the first five years of his contract, if I remember right.
-
WOW, I'm more impressed that Neil held his own in the fight. I would back down like a ***** before going into a tussle with Chara.
-
Iginla and Heatly were surprises to me. They emanate all sorts of douchy vibes when I see them play.
-
Wonder if they'll be gunning for Q for his comments. Let's make this a classic Avs beatdown, boys.
-
I love this idea. He plays a great game and I think he would bring a new element to our team. Sadly I don't see it happening simply because we don't have what they need for a run for the playoffs this year.

What's all this Dustin Brown talk? I would love to have him. Are there rumors of him being on the trade block?
-
Imagine how well he'll do after he fixes his bum knee.
-
Floating pucks into the slot, scoring, same thing right?

LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!

I love how Z and Franzen have stepped up just like Kane in the absence of a top player. =/
-
Haha, you know you're a wings fan when the solution to your problems is ending your own win streak.
-
Zetrerberg has been useless. We need to play more than 10 minutes a game to be winners, folks.

I don't think the Red Wings are America's team. I feel the way people from Michigan and Detroit relate to their hockey team is completely different from the way the rest of the country does. Being from the area (or being a transplant) comes with a certain pride and passion for your local teams that's pretty unique and hard to describe. Part of it comes from the fact that the local economy has been suffering and watching sports is a tremendous outlet for people in the community. I think if we call Detroit America's team, then you're sort of devaluing that special relationship. I think New York, Chicago, or Boston would be more appropriate. Or maybe I'm just being a snob about my favorite team. I don't know. I think they're Detroit's team.

The Sounders! That's another good point. Seattle has their cult following of the Sounders. Everyone absolutely loves them. Hockey should go to Portland.
-
I've lived in the Northwest a while back, and while I think Seattle could definitely support a team, my preferred city would be Portland. People in Portland are crazy about the NBA Blazers and tend to have cult following when it comes to their sports teams--the Rose Garden is considered one of the toughest buildings to play in because it's so damn loud. They're also big on the Winterhawks, which are a minor league team that you often hear people talking about. Just considering the size of the population and marketing, Seattle would probably be the safer bet, but man, Portland would be the perfect hockey city if people got into it.

This wound is still festering. I don't know if I can do it guys.

The old winged-wheel for sure. I would actually buy that one.
