We all know about the Hossa Kopecky bromance.

Ideal world: W-L-T, with 5 minute overtime, 4 on 4. No shootout. The NHL would never want to market the game like that though. They feel they need a winner and gimmicks to attract fans. It's not the end of the world though. What I hate most about the shootout is that it has completely lost its novelty. I remember waiting every four years for the Olympics and when a shootout happened it was just so horrifying, "how could they leave the game up to a shootout??" type of thing. Even if I were into the idea, which I'm not, doing it in a slump season would lead to a rip off. As long as you believe in your core players, you hang on to them. That's the Holland formula. I'm pretty sure most of us believe he is a world class player and this isn't his new baseline. So we hang on to him.

I think he was trying to say that the clock auto-adjusts so that the period is exactly 20 minutes. Why the clock can't be designed to not get off within a twenty minute period is beyond me though. That video sure looks sketchy though.

The article states they want the game to have its own entity and tradition, yet they want to move it in the shadow of the Super Bowl as a way to "pass the time" before the main event?? I like the fact that it's on Jan 1. In fact, it's grown to be something to look forward to when you wake up in the new year. That's tradition.

The whole "didn't extend the elbow" argument doesn't work. I feel with the language that has been thrown around, any sort of contact that could have contributed to placing a player in a dangerous or vulnerable position will get hit with the books. Not saying it's the right thing to do or good for the game, because hockey is definitely a contact sport. I just feel the way the suspensions are being rolled out, they are trying to discourage players from challenging someone for the puck in that type of situation.

It looks pretty benign until the very last replay. There you clearly see that Nikitin loses his edge after Z places his hand on his back. Shan-a-ban will probably say something like, "although we can recognize that Zetterberg makes minimal contact and did not have the intent to injure, he nonetheless places the player in a vulnerable position propelling him dangerously into the boards."

Hockeygiant in Anaheim has jerseys. I was just there today. Not sure if they have a Datsyuk so you might have to call, but they definitely had blank and numbered Wings jerseys. The only downside is that it's a bit of a drive and you gotta traverse dirty Duck water to get there. Other than that, I second ordering from SporksK. I think they're the go-to place for a lot of people on this site. I ordered from them before the Reebok jerseys came out, so I can't comment on how good they are with those. But I was super happy with the quality of the product I got from them.

This is absolutely awful. If you watch playoff hockey for the next 20 years, you are going to get sick and tired of seeing the same teams over and over. Think about it.

The old Ducks used to pound us pretty hard and we were pretty tattered and injured if we managed to get past them. Probably why we couldn't seal the deal in 2009.

To be honest, I don't even think Datsyuk would accept the captaincy, probably for a lot of reasons that have been mentioned. I must say that I have been impressed by how Kronwall has carried himself in interviews and such. Z has always been great too. I think he's still being groomed for the C at this point.

How did this thread turn into the laughable prospect of trading Hudler for Semin? No way it happens. I don't think they're that desperate to dump his salary to give him away for an ooma loompa. According the the article, they weren't going to budge for Cleary, Kindl, and a pick. It's going to cost a pretty penny to get him and it's not worth it in my opinion. Plus, Dan Cleary represents everything a Wing should be. No need to trade him for some lazy, wasted talent.
