Fedorov will not go up. He may have smoothed over relations with the club, but I don't think he can recover back to where he would be put in the rafters. It's the right precedent to set. Z and Pav have not earned it yet. Yzerman and Lidstrom brought the team out of obscurity and made it a premiere hockey club where free agents wanted to play. They built a dynasty with 3 and 4 cups each. Z and Pav are far from that type of accomplishment. I think to be in the rafters it takes more than goals and assists. It requires the player to elevate the club to new heights and make a massive contribution.

No one wants to see bitter rivals kiss and make up. Keep it nasty and in the past.

I hope that is a fourth forward and not a natural defender.

The reason I heard Hull played for USA was because he would get more ice time. Don't know if that's true.

SportsK all the way. Amazing site. I recently bought a really cool jersey from them and then was bummed because it was too large. I sent it back and they returned a smaller size so fast that I was very impressed. A lot of people on this site including myself have had a great experience with them. I've been to games in Vancouver, Los Angeles, San Jose, Anaheim, and Chicago. Out of those the United Center was probably the most fun for me. Probably because I was sitting next to a pair of attractive loud-mouth girls that seemed to know a lot about the game. Their trash-talk was excellent. That arena is huge and completely unlike our building. The worst fans were definitely in Anaheim. I was at this game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8K3l3wfeaQ) and the upper bowl broke out into fights between Wings and Ducks fans after that happened. As a Wings fan, going to the Joe is like going to mecca. The experience isn't the same anywhere else. The history, banners, and commemorations to the Production line and other Hockeytown heros makes you feel the amazing tradition of hockey in Detroit.

I am totally making this up, but it feels like the "winning tradition" of our glory days have faded and we need to re-learn what it takes to win in the same way the LA Kings did after having the tools in place for a number of years. We're a young club now and we're relying on inexperienced players so naturally our club needs time to mature. I don't think we'll be in the running this year or next year but a couple deep runs may accelerate the process for sure.

I live right downtown. Ride my bike past the Joe every sunny day. For hotels, I always recommend people go to Priceline and go to the highest star level (5 or 4, or whatever) and bid for a room right downtown at whatever budget you can afford. It's a little shifty because you don't know the exact hotel you will be staying at, but you will almost certainly land a nice room at a cheap price. Half the time you will end up staying in the Marriott at the Renaissance center, which is one of the places you have to visit while you're up here anyway. Other times you get the Double Tree right across the street. Both are walking distance from the Joe. Detroit has way more hotel rooms than tourists, so use this to your advantage on Priceline and book a sweet deal. But again, it is a little risky because you don't know exactly where they will put you. Places to check out while you are here: Best food: Green Dot Stables, Motor City Brewing Works, Mudgie's, and of course the world famous Slow's BBQ. Fine dining: London Chop House (my personal favorite), La Dolce Vita (best brunch in the city, call for reservations). Best bars: Cafe D'Mongo's (there is no place on earth like it, a must see if you are around on a Friday or Saturday night), Two James Spirits, Grand Trunk I'm personally not a huge fan of Sweetwater wings, but everyone here does go crazy about them. Besides the places I've listed, there are a TON of other very memorable and cool bars and restaurants I haven't listed. One of the amazing things about Detroit is there are hardly any chain restaurants around, so everywhere you go is unique and an experience. The ones I have listed are strictly the "must sees." Would have been smart if the pass wasn't errant. Didn't look like they were going to make the best of that chance. But definitely would take 1 guy versus 2.

The song is really distracting, haha. But cool footage to see. It's harder for us to appreciate how good the guy was compared to the hours of footage we see of more modern players, so thanks for sharing.

He's watching Myers for which we have been low balling Buffalo. I still wouldn't be optimistic.

So it begins.

Getting a tripping penalty even if you touch the puck first is garbage. There's athleticism and skill involved in taking a chance in acquiring the puck from an attacking player on the fly like that. What, now every breakaway will result in a penalty if the attacking player happens to fall down while the defenseman is trying to make a play?

The silence in the pauses during the Djurgarden chants is eerie and awesome. When we get chants going here it's never so precise. For a long time I've wanted to try and put together some sort of European style song for Wings fans to sing at games. I think that would be a cool thing to pioneer in the league other than clap-clap clap-clap-clap or go "one syllable team name" go. Sadly I don't think it would stand much of a chance to catch on unless it came directly from Wings marketing and was played on the jumbotron.

Hopefully he'll grow into it.

I'm in Kales. Great area to live. Great restaurants and events. Wonderful biking city. My buddies and I walk next door and scalp Tigers tickets for cheap halfway through games. Sure, there are a bunch of empty buildings around, and that is by no means a great thing, but I feel the people here embrace it as the city's aesthetic and character. It's part of the whole package. I think the plans for construction will really attract further life down here once people realize how convenient and fun the area around the statiums is.

I've noticed it's the people in the suburbs who are usually pessimistic about downtown. I've been living here the past two years and it has been a blast. No one here is "waiting for a revival." It's already pretty awesome. I have no doubt these plans will make it better. Here is the view from my apartment and you can see the lots along Woodward where the stadium will stand. You can see the FOX theater sign for a point of reference. I'll post more pictures once they start construction.

After being in the West all these years it's about time.
