Any Los Angeles area wings fans know the presale code?
Seraph replied to Yzermania's topic in General
I'd be interested in the code, if any knowers could divulge when it comes out. Please send me a pm! -
I don't particularly like the guy, but I'm glad he's signed. No harm in putting Lilja's cap space to use. As a business man, Kenny got it done. I approve.
-
Mule, no question. That's as cool as you're gonna get. Plus you want an active player that is good, locked up, and mighty. All three criteria are met.
-
If he went on a storm and carried the Canucks to the finals or something, I could see this being worth it. But whatever the team is doing now, isn't working that well, so why invest more money in it?? This will hinder the team ultimately for putting the right pieces in place and becoming a yearly contender.
-
This would work with cheat codes.
-
Everyone is putting the pressure on Fil, haha. I'm all for it, but let's hope he can handle it. I don't have specific predicitons, but I think we're gonna start off struggling a bit until all the players figure out their roles. Then I think we'll meet the success of last year. Hopefully exceed it.
-
If the talks are "heating up," wouldn't that imply Holland IS going after him really hard... not WILL LIKELY?? Sounds like BS.
-
I don't think that's what the OP meant. Just saying that if it were to happen, independent of race, then there would be some positives due to the added diversity. I don't think Grier would have a problem with making a positive impact on the sport in that way.

Mike Grier's agent says he's 'interested' in Red Wings
Seraph replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I'd love to see Mike Grier signed. -
Fond memories. Those times were full of excitement. Philly really dropped the ball too. From turnovers to clear shots to the blue line. We executed so well to take advantage of it. And it's great to see Stevie out there again and healthy. It's been a while.

I don't see the big deal. The article says they documented his shoulder in the "getaway interview" at the end of the year. So I'm sure all parties were aware and the contract was written up with this in mind.
-
It just means he messed up his shoulder joint. There are four muscles in your shoulder that come together to form a sheath that your main arm bone attaches inside. If you tear the sheath, you have problems moving your arm relative to which of the four muscles got hurt/torn.

I don't see anything wrong with his quote. People in Chicago loooove their Hawks. I actually went to a game there last year. I was impressed. I can see why he's excited.
-
I agree with the OP. Let's see what these young guys can do. Let's see if they can grow a little with a full season and some responsibility on their plate. Then we'll know who to lock up long term at an affordable price. Come trade deadline, we'll address the gaps. But I think a season when we may not be a top contender for the President's trophy may not entirely be a bad thing. As long as we can make the playoffs, that's all that matters to me. The youth movement is here, folks.

Stevie Y has said in the past he'd entertain the idea of going to a GM position out of Detroit. Wouldn't put it past him. Chicago is a good team to inherit and lead. I wish him the best but it'll be hard to see him somewhere else. Time will tell what will happen.

Zetterberg even said it when he was asked about his negotiations. He said that there is a certain amount that you feel you deserve as a player, and once that is met, you must show some commitment to your team and to winning to not ask for ridiculous amounts. Both Franzen and Zetterberg's contracts are fair and both sides are happy. Hossa just wants the same. Offering him 4-5 million is not in the range of what he feels he deserves. And that's fair. I would even agree that a player of his caliber deserves something around 6 million. He already gave up 10 million to come here to play for less. Let the guy get what he's earned. He's a talented player.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Seraph replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
This may be Holland's last stand to show the agent he's serious about being handcuffed by the cap. It's gonna come down to how bad Hossa wants to be a Wing. -
I wouldn't count Hossa out just yet, guys. Holland has said that he is the type of player that if you get a chance to sign, you do it. So I wouldn't be surprised if he dumps a salary or two somehow to land him.

I agree. Though tinkering will always happen when teams get desperate to create opportunities. They are very versatile players so naturally, they will be utilized in other situations/combos.

Before I take a short vacay from this place, I just wanted to say that even though we're all very disappointed right now, we still have a lot to be proud of. We outplayed 29 teams and came up short against one team that we beat just last year. Our team is made up of amazing players with a commitment to winning, a commitment that will last us into next year and beyond. We have a tradition and spirit of winning unmatched by any other organization. We attract players like Hossa who come to learn from us and will turn down piles of money to do so. We have amazing players with amazing skills that similarly turn down piles of money and publicly state they want to be Red Wings for life. Our team is one of hockey integrity and not a lot of other organizations can say that. And lastly, our fans are classy and knowledgeable. Sharing the discussion with you all on here has been a treat. We battled so much adversity this entire year, from defensive and goaltending struggles to injures in the playoffs. In the end, we only came up one game short. Along the way we battled really tough teams. The road through Anaheim was rocky and took a toll on everyone's body. Columbus and and especially Chicago were also teams to watch out for in an especially strong Western conference. Throughout, our stars struggled to a degree, and we saw an amazing youth movement go to work and play phenomenally. This gives us a glimmer of what our team may be like in a few years, and it looks bright. We even played injured, with at least 5 or 6 guys who should have technically been sitting out, and we found a way to give ourselves a chance. And even though we may not be Stanley cup champions this year, I'd say that all of this still qualifies as champion-style play. What we have accomplished, though it may not qualify as a "repeat," is still epic. Be proud to be a Red Wings fan. Be proud of our team. And look forward to the chapters to come. I'll leave you with a post-game quote. After losing game seven and missing the opportunity to win the Stanley cup, Zetterberg states: "You know what, this going to make us stronger... You will always learn, and you will always bring this stuff with you." Use this thread to get over the missed opportunities, the posts, the bad calls, the commissioner, and the finger pointing. When you're ready, say your last words and look ahead to next season.

Kenny will resign him and everyone will be praising him again in a few months. Everyone loved him a few months earlier too.
-
Real classy of Lemieux to hoist the cup literally minutes after it was won. It wasn't even about him. But he couldn't resist being in the lime-light. Anyone have a memory of Yzerman hoisting the cup last year?? Oh that's right.

Scoring a combined 2 goals for the last two games of the season, in the SCF, is pathetic. It's a bigger problem than just one guy.
