I'm for it if it gets more people to watch the game. I'm for promoting hockey. Plus, it'll make a good piss break.
-
I want to see Helmer.

Yea, and all that young talent will be gone after they require resigning. Gary Bettman said no to dynasties.

Are there any NHL players born in the southern hemisphere?

While I get (and agree with) your point, I think you're missing his. The path would probably be much easier and less risky at a higher seed. Going through those kinds of teams will rack up some injuries and potentially wear us out. Not that it's something we can't handle. It'd make for good hockey. But you'd be crazy to not take the higher seed if you had the chance to earn it.

Pretty sure the whole league hates us and were rooting against us in the finals.

Sometimes you roof it on hasek in OT, some times you lacerate your own leg.

SO win off of Hudler's stick.

Pass the crow. Solid game. I am impressed. Hopefully we're getting back on track for good now.

My predictions: we are gonna get rocked. Really hard. But I don't think that's entirely a bad thing. It'll be a wakeup call to a lot of our guys. It's time to play Red Wing hockey again.

Hossa is well worth the lack of wiggle room. He's one of the BIG reasons we have won despite our crappy play. And that MIGHT be a part of the problem. The fact is, we are playing horribly. The goaltending is awful. The defense is lackluster, but we're STILL WINNING. What would motivate anyone to play better hockey when they are still winning? Nothing. Having Hossa to bail us out by chipping one or even two goals is not helping. I think getting into a rut would be the best thing for us right now. I think we need to lose in order to learn how to win again.

Food for thought: Interesting Statistics that speak volumes
Seraph replied to sureWhyNot's topic in General
We are a tough team. We don't need to worry about too much added toughness. The only drawback of our toughness is that we have to consciously turn it on. Which is not entirely a bad thing. If we went out there, lacked skill, and required on physical play to get everything done, all our guys would be injured. I'm content with what we have now. The pain train can take care of the rest. The playoff team of last year was very gritty and hard to play against. Malkin couldn't bring the puck into our zone because Kronner was an assassin. We physically wore out the Stars. Datsyuk and Zetterberg both were throwing very notable hits that I can still remember. Which is a good sign. We don't have much cap room to do anything anyway. Our team is tough when it needs to be. Our team is smart and skilled. That is what Red Wing hockey is all about. -
The best goalie you'll get for Hudler would be Osgood caliber at best...

I think everyone here including myself would be iffy about it until he threw some checks and crushed some people. Then we'd be all for it.

Conklin to start in Dallas; Chelios to debut on Sat

Ozzie will never be a superstar starting goaltender. He makes a stellar backup though, even better than most superstar starting goaltenders. -
Agreed. But when they do live up to their reputation, this won't be the case anymore. And all we're saying is that it'll be a matter of time before they do. Like when the backup goalie comes around and starts a game and his true abilities are then showcased.
-
Sure, stuart is as much "the biggest hitter in the league" as is a backup goalie with a 1.00 save percentage put in late during a game leading all goalies. Sure, you can argue he's leading the pack now with some big hits that seem to stand out in mind, but yeah, he's definitely not the best consistent hitter in the league right now. There are countless others that have a bigger and better hitting reputation.

He probably needs the high flex to do what he does.

Okay, well if he's DIRECTLY behind you in line, I don't think it would have been a crime say hey and throw in a comment, like "good work bringing stanley home." If I noticed something about an ordinary person in line, like a cool shirt that they were wearing or something, I'm make a comment about that too. I don't think it would have been a big deal. It's out of line and invading privacy if you're going up to his dinner table or something. That's kind of messed up. When I was in elementary school, my dad delivered one of Darren McCarty's kids. I was always upset with him that he didn't get me a damn autograph, but I understand now. Gotta let people live their personal lives. It's not all about you.

I don't know if anyone else saw this, but I saw in an interview where he attributes the rise in his hitting game to Dallas Drake joining the team. He spoke as if it were plain logic. Something like: "I never know how hit. Dallas Drake join the team. He show me how to hit. Now I hit." Haha, it was hilarious. As if nothings impossible for him. He just had to be shown.

Haha, this topic is NOT what you thought it was about. I don't know if I'll get crap for starting a thread like this, but maybe it could be fun. Who would you rather BE? Marian Hossa or Henrik Zetterberg. You can take anything and everything into consideration including their careers so far, potential career longevity, personal life, abilities, earning potential, personality, etc. You would be born as them and live their life up until now and beyond. Obviously, the future is unknown. Don't forget to justify your answer.

I'm leaning toward Z. I think Hossa probably lives the more baller lifestyle and seems to play more of an exciting brand of hockey. It says something when he can just walk in on a team, take a HUGE paycut and end up making as much as the long-time, superstar captain. That's good and all and he can probably run off next year with an even bigger contract, but there is something not as fun about not being devoted to one team your entire career. Plus it's not like Z is living the poor man's life. I think it would be cooler to be a part of the Detroit winning tradition, follow the Yzerman era into probably your own captaincy. On the flipside, I feel Hossa is more of a monster on the ice and will probably have a longer career, seeing how Z seems to be already dealing with some chronic injuries. I think both have their pluses, but in the end I'd go with the team devotion, legacy, and already guaranteed Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe. Though I think Hossa's game is more exciting, I think Z's play probably matches my personality more anyway. I'm all about well-roundedness. Haha, as an NHL superstar, I don't think you'd have too much problems with the lady friends either way, but your assessments have been astute.

Hmm, maybe someone should send them and email and let them know the defense is playing awful and the goaltending could be improved too.

He definitely LOOKED like he knew what he was doing.
