    Why are we worrying?

Yeah, you're right. We're probably overreacting. It is November after all. It's just scary for us to see our team not play to its potential. The record is not so much as important as finding our chemistry, defense, and hunger for another cup run. It's just scary because scraping by like we're doing now won't work in the playoffs. This type of goaltending will only get us a long relaxing offseason.

    Projecting the 2009-2010 roster

Sure, you guys can make the numbers work. But it's too tight a squeeze for it to happen. Even if Kenny decided to go for one of your guys' plans, it's highly unlikely that every single player resigning/being traded will agree to the conditions. Each player/agent duo is going to have certain demands and having it all fall into place exactly how you guys want it simply won't happen. Kenny isn't that charismatic and can't arbitrate 5 players' contracts to fall perfectly in place. It's not even a smart approach because if it DOESN'T fall into place, there will have undoubtedly been a safer plan that would have gotten you a better deal. Holland has said it lots of times. You go after the players you want to keep and hope the young guys will fill in the gaps. He's just going to sign Z, first priority. Then he will speak to Hossa and then Franzen. Whatever happens, happens. We will still have a good team.

Vote for Lids as best Captain!

Oh come on people. Vote for Sakic if you think he's better, and you DO have a great argument for it. However, the OP just wanted a little red wing community solidarity, and I'm all for it. Go over to the site and vote Lids! It is a stupid poll, but it's still fun for all of us to make an impact.

Who would produce the most on the 2nd line?

I was just wondering this unmentionable thought to myself the other day. Do you think the organization would pair Dats and Hossa (versus Z and Hossa) so Z won't be putting up as much points, creating a talking point for contract negotiations? You know, them saying: you're not putting up as much points as Dats, so maybe you should be content with the offers we're giving you. I understand Z is by far a proven player, Conn Smythe winner, but in general, do things like this happen? I mean, if either Dats and Z could perform with Hossa, and Dats is locked up, why not let him enjoy the extra productivity? It probably wouldn't hurt the team any.

    Worst regular season games

I've been watching hockey for a looooong time, and game 5 was brutal for me. I'll say that was the worst game I've seen. I was so dazed for the next day or so until we won the cup. I felt like I was living in an alternate universe and game 6 wasn't supposed to be happening. Pure denial and confusion. Game 5 could have been a turning point if our guys weren't as experienced as they were. If the example/legacy of Lidstrom, Stevie, and Shanny hadn't been here, I feel we could have choked after that.

Price of Jerseys at the JLA?

I paid 120 for a RBK Datsyuk in the conference finals last year.
  7. I don't really want him. Our top lines are stacked. The ONLY reason I'd be interested is to give this team more hunger to play for another cup. Which he will obviously bring as the next Dallas Drake figure. If he wants to take a paycut and we can kick Samuelson out the door, I'd be willing to give him his salary plus whatever change is left. Other than that, I don't want to sacrifice components of this already proven team.

    '97 Brawl

Hey man, plenty of room for new Wings fans. We're playing some great hockey these days and that is to be appreciated. Though, it's sad new fans will never feel the way we felt when playing the Avs. Any match against them was a pride match. You just wanted to win so badly and you could feel it deep in your bones when those guys were in town. If we meet the Ducks in the playoffs this year, I think we may have a new rivalry to look forward to. They've beat us before and they have the potential to be cheap. That's how the Avs rivalry started.

Enjoy man. I was in 5th grade when this happened. Good times staying up at night with the old jersey on.

Center Ice Commercial, Makes Me Sick

It's kind of dumb for them to consider that a casual fan will want to get center ice because of Crosby and the Pens. I would think Center Ice would be marketed to more of a non mainstream hockey fan who lives out of town and wants to keep up with their team. So yeah, you're right. I think the advertisement sucks both as an advertisement and for the fact that it's shamelessly promoting the series inaccurately.

Franzen out 3-4 weeks; more tests Monday

Arrg, I'm going to the game tomorrow too. I missed him during the playoffs in Detroit the first game he was gone as well. Baad news once again. Here's to a good recovery though. Feel better FRANZENSTEIN!!

10/18 GDT: Red Wings 5, Rangers 4 (OT)

Haha, the little article at the front page of LGW says the Wings "blew another 3rd period load." Someone's head is in the gutter, haha.

Sidney Crosby is leading by the example

Malkin seems a little scared of being hit. I think he was freaked out by Kronner's hits in the finals. He was off is game then. Man up and play hockey, dude.

question about a Dominic HasekPro Set rookie card

Yeah, those are really low quality cards. You can tell from just looking at one up close. When I was in elementary school I'd convince my parents to buy me a box for 9.99 while we were waiting in line for the checkout. Then I'd spend more of my own money on the little transparent binder things you put them in. They're not worth anything, but it was fun opening the packs and going through them.

I really love the sabres old jersey. It's one of my favorite all time. Glad to see it back.

    Zetterberg ranked #1

I agree with you actually. But I'll play devil's advocate. Couldn't you say that Crosby and Ovechkin play a different kind of game overall? Couldn't their offensive/playmaking abilities outweigh the "completeness" of Dats/Z's game? Just because they take on a different role doesn't mean they're worse. They are just playing in a different system. It could be like saying they are worse players because their defense isn't as good as Lidstrom's. Well, Lidstrom is a defenseman. He has a different role. Same with Z and D. No one will argue with you about which player is more complete. But is one player's overall impact better than the other?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Dats lead our team in hits for several games in the second half of the playoffs? The punch was just icing on the cake. I was continually impressed by Dats' physicality up until the end. Hopefully he'll keep it going because it had me riled up. That and the whole fist pumping and smiling after scoring goals. Usually he just skates awkwardly off the ice. I was loving it. The announcers were talking about how he picked up his physical game from working with Drake. EDIT: I didn't go through the individual games, but went to nhl.com and Dats was second in hits on the team for the entire playoffs with 56 (Stuart had 59). Zetterberg was 16th with 15 hits.
