I think the funniest part is how it was proposed by our very own Detroit Red Wings, it was like sayinig, "We are only a pseudo-good team!!" But hey, if we have to swallow a little pride to get a better draft position, i'm all for it.

I say A-. We got the physical power forward type we needed, got an energy guy, got rid of Williams and his salary, and re-worked our struggling second line. The only other thing that could have been done would be to move lilja somehow, but only because eating that 1.2mil he's due next year could suck if we cant trade him during the offseason. He's a good depth guy til then. -
Good old Brett. We need people like that in hockey. It seems like of the four major sports we have the least interesting athletes and commentators.

Its kind of aggravating that we held onto the guy all year just to waive him in the end. If I were Joey I'd be pissed.

I like the idea of him coming over here, it's just kind of pisses me off that there's all this talk about bringing guys like him, Carter, and Nolan over here when they were UFAs last summer and we could have signed them without having to give up anything.

I wonder if they're signing him as a starter or back up. Either way, I don't think it matters cause he'll probably end up taking the job away from Sanford in the end anyway. Best of luck to Manny.

This has crossed my mind as well. In the amount of time last season where he wasn't too fat to play or too hurt, he put up good numbers. A power forward type, he may be available come the trade deadline now that St. Louis has Guerin, especially if they're out of the playoff hunt.

I agree with the captain. It's like every single goalie that is available is rumored to be going to Detroit. I'll bet that this is just a ploy by Holland to make us seem less desperate for a goalie so as to drive down the price of one we really want.

I don't really think I can afford to throw money around at the moment but I was hoping you could maybe tell me what kind of curve he uses on the blade of his stick. I ask because it always seemed like he got under the puck early and maintained great control on his wrist shots.

I think that trade would be kind of broken too. The wings would get the better deal as far as talent goes, but it wouldn't mak much sense for us. We'd be giving up some of our size for Samsonov, who is another clone of like half the up and coming forwards in our system (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Hudler, etc.) -
I thought I remembered him getting something like $1million tax free from Russia. The game that fightfan24 was referring to, Bykov was needlessly challenged to a fight by Barret Jackman of St. Louis and obviously didn't know how to handle himself in a fight. I think that might have been the same game that Kocur threw the chair onto the ice because he was pissed at Keenan for sending his goons out at the end of a blow out, but I'm not sure.

I don't see this happening. Following the '03-'04 season, Holland specified that Thomas and Hull would NOT be offered contracts, period.

Bondra would be pretty good on our top line. I was just thinking earlier today that of Lang and Shanahan, there is acceptable size and strength, but something of a lack of speed. In addition to this, Bondra played along side Lang last season, which was pretty much Lang's most successful season.
