Osgood is out with the flu and Larsson was recalled by the wings too.

I think that's a pretty cool idea. I always liked a soft cap more than a hard cap as well. I think revenue sharing is the biggest piece of BS I've ever heard. Small market teams deserve to fail in my opinion.

Let's put it this way. The kid got wrecked because he did not protect himself at all times, but at the same time Liambas probably could have eased up a bit more. Whether or not it was technically legal is not what I'm debating, but show a little class. I look at it as a gentleman's agreement here. You could go out there and be an ass hole and try to hurt 16 year old kids after they let go of the puck, or you could play classy and check hard when there's a good reason to- like when you are trying to put the body on someone to knock them off the puck. There's no need need to do what Liamba or Lamb Chop or whatever his name is did. He'll get beat up for it either way I'm sure.

Ozzie's Painted Mask - 05/06 Season - Never Game Worn
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to sureWhyNot's topic in General
Funny. You'd think that you would try a mask out before deciding to have it painted. -
I personally thought Howard show some real flashes of brilliance against Vancouver, but has a few glaring problems that he should work out. His rebound control was terrible, and he would've made some harder saves look a lot easier if he was positioned a little better. To make matters worse, he seemed having a hard time getting up to make a second save. If he can just control those rebounds he will be fine, but he has the tools to make big saves which is what we need as long as he can iron things out.

Babcock: Filppula has been Wing's top forward
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to kook_10's topic in General
A line of Holmstrom Williams and Bertuzzi is just too ugly. I think it's the reason why Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Filpula were split up down the middle 1, 2, 3. You need that speed and defense to make a good line. You'd pretty much either need to do that or see if Helm, Abdelkader, or Draper could develop some offenisive chemistry playing on one of those bottom 6 lines. -
I thought Bert looked pretty good last night. Lol I get the feeling that the man is generally FEARED out there. I remember at one point last night he stumbled backwards and straight up sat on Theodore. When he got up, none of the defenseman said or did s***. They just kind of looked down and to the side. People not named Ovechkin even seemed reluctant to challenge him to a physical battle on the ice. It was like, "Don't f*** with Bertuzzi, he'll snap your neck."

They are also replaying the game at midnight on Fox Sports Detroit which is channel 430 on dish network.

You know, when I saw that five goals and seven point in 11 games statistic, it made me think of ville leino...

I think this thread is dumb, at least now.

Time to MAN UP: Williams or Samuelsson?
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to blues_demitra38's topic in General
I personally like Samuellson more. I think he is a more versatile player. You could use him on penalty kill, power play, in the corners, in the high slot, etc. All I remember Jason Williams being able to do is shoot the puck and get knocked the f*** out. -
Ken Holland about next years roster and williams
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to crazy13's topic in General
I think we Hollan signed Williams because it gives us scoring potential on our top three lines once again. Each of our top three lines now can be lined up with a sniper, a playmaker, and a power forward type - of course all three of those terms being thrown around loosely. I'm thinking this: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Leino-Filpula-Franzen Williams-Helm-Cleary Eaves-Draper-Maltby I think those lines look pretty damn good to be honest, even though I don't reall like Williams either. Dude did have a huge shot though IIRC. -
Lol I'd be down to watch a dude who you know could flip out and go psycho at any time.

NHL Investigating Hossa & Pronger's contracts
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
I just hope that this doesn't come back at us in any way, what with the two contracts we have structured like that for Hank and Mule. -
I've kind of been curious about Afinogenov as well. I think he could help our team out in regards to having a high level of speed and increasing the pressure of our forecheck as well as maintaining pressure in the opposing zone with his stickhandling, allowing us to set up in front of the net. He'd probably come fairly cheap too. I'm all for it.

Anyone have a link for a live feed for tonights game? I'm stuck in class and don't care about these crappy presentations people are doing on ethical business behavior lol.

Just heard on 97.1 that Datsyuk did not skate today and is allegedly doubtful for tomorrow. Yesterday though, I heard today's was an optional skate so who knows...
-
If he can manage to play without causing long term damage or reaggravating severely enough to where he misses the next game, I say by all means we should play him. We cannot afford to give the Penguins any breathing room or momentum whatsoever. They could be a very dangerous team to give that to.
-
The Penguins, as a whole in my opinion, are a very immature franchise; particularly in comparison to the Red Wings.

I actually remember high glove side being Giguere's biggest weakness. Otherwise I think you're spot on.

I've been thinking for the past few days that Zetterberg has definitely proved himself as next in line for the captaincy in Detroit. He led our team to two consecutive victories with a banged up team in which all three other captains, being Datsyuk, Lidstrom, and Draper were out. One was a blowout, the other a tight overtime game - both respectable victories. As a team, we didn't retaliate when Chicago got chippy in game 4. Babcock even complimented him on his leadership in that game. On a side note, I just bought this laptop and this is the first time I've had it on the internet and this was the first site I visited. It was never a question it wouldn't be lol.
-
Of course we are the model franchise. There is not much of an argument you could really have against it.
-
I say we insert Downey or Mac into the lineup tomorrow. Seroiusly. I mean, the way it's been lately we are almost a three line team as it is. Make the fourth line out of two special teams guys and an enforcer, oldskool style lol.
-
I think there are three factors that have to deal with Datsyuk's lack of point production, each one contributing to the next: 1. Niedermayer is the only defenseman I have ever seen that can consistently get the better of Datsyuk, most likely due to the fact that he is quite possibly the best skater in the league. 2. The Ducks are using a very effective defensive box in the neutral zone and in their own zone that they are hooking and holding to keep players on the outside of. 3. Mickey Redmond said, and I agree, that Datsyuk needs to use his linemates more instead of doing everything himself. I have never seen him move as quickly as I did last night at times, but he needs to pass the puck. So in other words, Datsyuk can't do much one on one, and he can't pass to his team mates because they are being bullied out of the play.

Holmstrom off Datsyuk and Zetterbergs line
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to hossa8181's topic in General
I say we try something like this: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Hossa-Filpula-Cleary Samuellson-Helm-Homstrom Hudler-Abdelkader-Maltby This is basically stacking our top line to try and create an overwhelming advantage over them. The second and third lines still have a playmaker, sniper, and power forward or net front type player to make a complete scoring line. I figure samuellson's blind shooting will compliment holmstrom's blind net crashing and Helm's speed will balance out Homer's slowness. I understand the fourth line is about useless, but the way I see it we are basically a three line team right now anyway so two of those players are primarily special teams players and the other is a rookie, so as a complete line they will be used rarely. You could theoretically make a line out of both by switching Hudler and Samuellson but I think that would make the third line too weak defensively.
