Okay I just can't get over my excitement over the acquisition of signing Hossa, and combine that with the fact I'm a little drunk and just sat on my front porch messing with line-ups, I decided to start the thread we all knew would come from somewhere. I feel as though Hossa has filled in the final hole and the possibilities of our forward lines are nearly endless now. Here is what I have come up with: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Hossa-Filpula-Franzen Cleary-Draper-Samuellson Maltby-Kopecky-Hudler I feel as though with these lines you have a little of every element on each line. I think you soulc swap the positions of Zetterberg and Filpula, since Filpula is basically a poor man's zetterberg who doesn't shoot (or pass) as much, and you could also have kopecky trade places with draper if you wanted a fourth line that is more geared with extra players for special teams versus having it set up to roll four lines, even though I think Draper is a little too good a player to be stuck on the fourth line.

Why not compare them? It will add to the discussion.

Obligatory forward lines thread for next season
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to LidstromIsASuperhero's topic in General
Lol I love how you put the umlauts and stuff on the names all proper and s***, systemfel. Are you really from gothenburg? How's the heavy metal scene out there going? -
Obligatory forward lines thread for next season
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to LidstromIsASuperhero's topic in General
Yeah I could go for a Datsyuk Zetterberg split. I could even have datsyuk Zetterberg Filpula and draper be centers of lines one through four. I just left Z on the line with Homer because I don't know if Filpula is really going to shoot enough for holmstrom to use his strengths in front of the net. I just now realized I misspelled forward on the thread title. Jack daniels is one serious motherf***er lol. -
I think the NHL needs more trades like this. 90% of the trades we see are salary dumps/rebuilding maneuvers. It's like half the teams lack confidence in their ability to create a winning team... EVER. I think the biggest thing Columbus needs is some leadership. I've been saying the same thing about San Jose for a while too, but at least San Jose has the skill to compensate.

Holland: Wings will wait until Sept. for D trade
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to Matt's topic in General
I feel like we could trade both of them in favor of a meech/ericcson combo as our bottom pairing. We'd have a savvy veteran in Chelios and a steady youngster in Quincey available even after that. Don't forget about kindl, either. -
Are we talking about the Swedish pop singer? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Lindstr%C3%B6m Lol I went to wikipedia looking because I think there's a Swedish male porn star named lindstrom too. You find things like that if you type in 'swedish porn' on google... don't judge me.

The officiating in the playoffs was a joke. Either stuff is a penalty or not. There was no rhyme or reason to how they called things, and you know they saw it. The NHL needs to do some real revising of their rulebook this summer to get rid of the immense grey area when it comes to penalties. As it stands, the refs have too much free reign to dictate a game as they wish.

There were a lot of feel good stories this year. Like Ozzie said, that's another reason for the vets to win the cup. We won for Robitaille, Duchesne, and Hasek in 2002. Stevie got his in 1997 and became a legend, and in 1998 we won it for Vlad.

So happy for the entire team, but especially...

Personally I think Drake is done. Congrats to him, he's a great guy and he laid it all out in the playoffs, but for most of the season he was pretty unremarkable. Why not go out on top? -
First thing I did was get my shift picked up Friday morning... still have to work again at 6:00 tho.

I woke up several times with messed up nightmares, with everything from xena warrior princess climbing walls in a large metal corridor, taking drugs that gave me pink eye and made my eyes swell up (I think they were called fish pebbles), and laying down on the platform my restaurant uses to put food on so it stays warm under the heat lamps...

Malone wants players to "get their elbows and sticks up"
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to tazzer82's topic in General
Lol I was talking to my buddy on the phone when it happened and all he hears is, "Ohhh, ohhh no!!" come out of my mouth then me laughing as I explain it to him. -
Samuelsson has never bugged me as much as a lot of people on here, if at all. You look at him and expect him to be some genuine, top 6 scoring winger but he simply is not. I view him primarily as a checking line player with some offensive capability. In that role, he is perfect. In fact, the fact that he can step in and play both roles as both a checker and a scorer should he need to says a lot about his versatility and his value to this team.

Franzen cleared to practice FULL OUT
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
Yeah I heard that too. They said he will be re-evaluated after the practice and if everything looks good he'll be cleared to play. The beef I have is that these tests will probably take forever for results looking at how things have been going, but hopefully I'm wrong. -
I understand what you're trying to say but I will have to disagree. I think a good example would be the career of Keith Primeau. In his final season, if I recall correctly, he played throughout the playoffs with a concussion while leading his team in scoring and taking them to the conference finals. That was, however, his last season as he was forced to retire due to post concussion syndrome. I would rather have Franzen be healthy and retire a Wing then play the like, final four games of his career right now.

Anything said worth noting? I'm stuck over here with dial-up.

MULE REPORT: Franzen Cleared to Practice
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to 96warrior's topic in General
I don't get it. Something else is going on. I'm not one of those naysayers who thinks he won't be back, but this story, coupled with the comments chelios made, added to how Holland was talking about how he thinks they should be able to keep all injuries secret all points to a strong possibility Franzen is dealing with more than a migraine. Here's to hoping he's good to go! -
Lol that's awesome. Welcome to the boards, Cap!
-
Lol I'm beginning to think they are keeping him off the ice so he doesn't win the Conn Smythe and we won't have to pay him as much when it comes time to renew his contract after next season.

The linesman we've been stuck with all playoffs long who won't drop the puck until he can kick a Red Wing out of the faceoff circle.

Rumor: Franzen Out with Possible Blood Clot?
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to jvxp's topic in General
Something just occurred to me. Perhaps they aren't trying to be so secretive about it, and it really isn't that big a deal. No media outlet has reported anything about a blood clot or anything this major. I personally am wondering if we are just freaking ourselves out on this one. If it turns out being something minor and stupid, I say we lynch the guy who posted this on the RWC boards. -
Sounds to me like Lindsay kind of exaggerated to try and win the lawsuit for Vladdy to me... I mean, Vladdy was great, but you really can't say he was the best ever.
