Exactly. Having once lived in St. Louis, I can say from first-hand experience that if there are any fans that have zero business trying to talk smack, it's Blues fans. The franchise has never accomplished a damn thing in its 40 year history, yet their fans never stop whining about how their team gets no "respect." Their frustration is understandable (it's a simple fact that the Blues have been the Wings' ***** for a solid decade), but their trash talk is difficult to take seriously.

It's important not to forget how and why the Blues always seem to play the Wings as if it's a SCF Game 7: the Blues have been the Wings' ***** for a decade. Can't blame them for being sick of it. Couple that with the fact that the franchise really has never accomplished anything in its 40-year history, and it's easy to see why the team and its fans start foaming at the mouth at the very sight of a Winged Wheel.

I agree that he's done a pretty good job at both places, and there is no questioning his skill as a GM. That said, I still have a hard time liking the guy after the Wings-'Nucks series in '02, when he held a press conference whining about the officiating in a manner that made him look/sound like a ten year-old.

Well, I'd say your mischaracterizing the significance of "reputations." It may be a shame, but reputations are usually earned. If a hit appears questionable, it's likely to be viewed one way if committed by someone with a few misconducts under his belt and another way if he's the reigning Lady Byng winner. That's why repeat offenders get longer suspensions.
