I actually feel kind of bad for them also. They just can't catch a break. Just goes to show you how hard it is to win the Cup. Everything has to go right and staying healthy is a huge factor. I mean if they get knocked out of the first round because of injuries that would suck. Oh well, on the other side they probably wouldn't be feeling sorry for us.
I don't feel bad for them. (Well, maybe for some of them.)
I usually empathize with hockey fans everywhere, but I had the misfortune of living in St. Louis for several years. The core Blues fans are great, but they're a distinct minority. The vast majority are idiots, who couldn't care less if their team ever won a Cup. As long as the other team leaves the ice on stretchers, they're happy. No coincidence that, for as long as most of us can recall, the Blues never fail to goon it up like crybabies every time they fall behind. Just giving their "fans" what they want.

Blues vs Bruins is something I can get behind, and cheer on the Blues...I've been to St.Louis a handful of times; really nice folks, and great hockey fans (and unlike Chicago you can wear your Red Wings gear, and not be threatened)...If there's a franchise out there along with a fan base that deserves to have a shot at winning the Cup - I'm thinking the Blues would be at, or near the top of that list.
Have to disagree about Blues fans.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like about the team, and Hitch is doing a great job. That said, I had the misfortune of actually living in St. Louis for several years, and the "core" Blues fans (passionate, knowledgeable, respectful of other teams) are a distinct minority. You're more likely to encounter the idiots who probably couldn't care less if the Blues ever won a Cup -- as long as the other team (preferably the Wings) leaves the ice on stretchers, they're happy. Plus, when they're not simply screaming for blood, they're constantly whining about how national media and fans of other teams aren't giving the Blues enough attention and "respect," -- despite the obvious fact (well, obvious to the rest of the world, anyway) that the team has never accomplished a freaking thing in its 45-year history.

Supposedly he wasn't coming back, according to sources.
Any updates on the supposed interest in Morrow? He's an upgrade over Cleary.
Jeez, where the hell are we gonna put all these forwards?
Not sure I would agree with this. Morrow looked very Cleary-esque and appeared to be out of gas much of the time during the Pens' playoff run.

This is great news.
Anyone know if that POS Gambino is still in the limo business? If so, news like this always serves as a good reminder that no self-respecting Wings fan should ever send any business his way.
-
Why the heck would he want to play in STL? I once had the misfortune of living there. Just say no, Danny.Pang said about an hour ago that Blues sent MacInnis to make a strong pitch. Assuming he meant recently. Why is Dekeyser still taking pitches? I think we are nowhere near the end of this.

Apparently the Red Wings are "eliminated" from the Parise sweepstakes per TSN. "Gino Reda", the Red Wings are not coming to talk to Parise.
How is it "apparent" that the Wings are "eliminated"? According to Khan, Parise's agent pulled the plug on in-person meetings since 20 teams asked for one and there was no way to accommodate them all. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/07/red_wings_with_owner_mike_ilit.html
Please post a link to your "elimination" source if you're able to come up with one (and/or try to grab a few more facts next time).

I've met more annoying Blues fans than most people here have.
I can't imagine how they'll act if they actually win something.
^This.
I had the misfortune of living in St. Louis for several years, and Blues fans are the worst of ANY team in ANY NHL city. Yes, there is a small core of loyal, passionate, knowledgeable Blues fans. These people are the minority. The vast majority is comprised of the whiniest mob of mulleted morons you will ever have the misfortune to encounter. Among this crowd, whether the Blues ever win a game -- let alone a Stanley Cup -- is irrelevant: as long as the other team leaves the ice on stretchers, they are happy. Slugs like Reed Low (the guy could barely skate) are worshipped like gods in St. Louis as long as they punch somebody. The rest of their time is spent obsessing over the lack of "attention" and "respect" shown the Blues by the national media and fans of other teams -- despite the obvious fact (well, obvious to the rest of the world, anyway) that the Blues have never achieved a freaking thing in their 40+ year history. The best thing that could happen to the franchise would be a relocation to a real city.

I disagree on Filppula. He is coming into his own and on a career year. He has been easiest the second best forward on this team behind Datsyuk. If we are talking trade one of our top 6 forwards I would rather it be Franzen and Hudler going. Franzen, Hudler, Kindl then some prospects and draft picks including our 1st rounder. Those are the assets I would be shopping...
Not sure if there would be as many takers for Franzen as we would like. That contract could be difficult to move given his injury history and streakiness.

Hello? Jim Nill, anyone? Here's hoping he ascends to GM when Holland steps down.

All I was trying to get across was that I didn't feel that the comment that was made was appropriate.Good grief -- that's rich. A Sharks fan shows up on a Wings board to spout off about how "even without Heatley, the Sharks would still beat you ..." A Wings fan expresses his disgust with Heatley's criminal history, and Sharks fan No. 2 shows up (again, on a Wings board) to lecture the Wings fans about what is "appropriate."
I can't speak for everyone, but I'd guess that most Wings fans -- especially in the immediate aftermath of a tough, 7-game series loss to the Sharks -- would prefer that you showcase your moral vanity on a Sharks board rather than a Wings board.

What are your guys opinion of Maxime Talbot and Pascal Dupuis? (they are both UFA's)
I'd like to Wisniewski to come in Salei's place, maybe another cheaper vet to take Ericsson's place, then have Smith on board. I am not sure I am sold on Kindl, if you could package him and Hudler for some help or even draft picks, that would be fine with me...
Then again I heard about a trade rumor involving HUdler and Ericsson to Atlanta, but I forgot who it was for in return...
That's a big NO on Talbot. He's a classless punk and a total diver. Definitely not Red Wings material.
-
Take Heatley or Marleau off or team and we'll still beat you.
LOL. Heatley should stop by his church of choice every effing day of the week and thank a higher power that he even plays in the NHL. If a certain judge owned a pair of testicles, he would be rotting in a Georgia jail cell following the vehicular manslaughter of his good friend.
Electrophile reacted to this -
At least you guys can watch the effing game. I'm home with a nice flat screen and a functioning HD cable connection, but my heart/nerves can't take it. I'll just scan the board every few minutes.
-
Damn - I'm a grown man (or so I thought), and I can't even effing watch the damn game. I'm too nervous. I'll just follow the board posts.
-
Completely, totally, absolutely predictable. We've seen this movie many times before.
-
Have not seen Mule this whole period.
And that's a good thing. His bum ankle has rendered him pretty much useless.
-
If shooting every single puck into shinpads was the objective Franzen would have the Ovechtrick.
If Mule was going to be this useless he should have scratched himself from the lineup. Modano couldn't be any worse; at least he can skate.

I adore Pasha. I have since the first time I saw him. He's so wonderful to watch on the ice, but so much more off it. What a treasure we have in him, and I am grateful for it.
Totally agree. I'm always telling my kids to savor every chance to watch him play, because they're getting the chance to see a once-in-a-generation talent. Wings fans have had an embarrassment of such riches the past two decades.

I'm watching the VAN/CHI game on TV and streaming the NSH/ANA game.
Perfect - thanks. I agree that both of these are worth watching.

Anyone have a stream for this one?

ALRIGHT PREDS! WAY TO GO!
Would be nice to see the preds win themselves their first playoff series. They haven't been able to on account of running into us every year .
I hate anaheim with a passion. Their time zone, Fairy Perry (I like that one by the way), GetMeOff Getzlaf, f*** em.
Close it out preds! Get rid of another west coast team!
Amen. The other thing I absolutely hate about the Ducks is their classless prick of a coach. Ever hear him in post-game interviews? Total jackass. The team's bad attitude and dirty play is no doubt a reflection of Carlyle. No big surprise, really, since he was a total cheap-shotting punk as a player, too.
-
You knew Dallas was toast when they signed Jason Williams for the stretch run. A whopping 2:40 of ice time yesterday and (of course) was a -1.
-
On a side note, man that letsgoblues site is a crap fest lol. I guess some of our posters get the same way against the Hawks and Pens, but I don't remember seeing any "******* *******" or any other bigoted remarks thrown their way.
It's tough to find fans who are worse than Blues fans. Having had the misfortune of living in St. Louis for a few years, I know whereof I speak. It's a shame, too, since the "core" Blues fan is knowledgeable, passionate, and respectful of other teams. Unfortunately, this group is the minority. Most of them are world-class whiners with a hilarious inferiority complex who couldn't care less if the Blues won a game, let alone a Cup. As long as the other team leaves the ice on stretchers, they're happy. Check their boards if the Wings go up by 2 or 3 goals, and they'll surely be clamoring for the Blues to goon it up and "send a message," whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.
-
Typical Blues. Great start to the season or not, they still can't help gooning it up like a bunch of crybabies whenever they happen to fall behind by a couple of goals. Pick any Blues fan forum, and you'll surely find one of their idiot fans demanding that the team "send a message" (i.e., goon it up) shortly after the Jackets scored their third goal. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Exactly. He was brutal on Chara's goal. Waving his stick in the air while Chara bangs home the loose puck. Seriously doubt Sproul and/or Oullette could be any worse.
