Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6
sWINGED replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
isn't butting a player with a stick an AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION? or is that only if your name isn't fockwad vaginla? -
ig is a horrible captain. utterly useless as a captain. as your captain goes, so goes your team. if you captain is a hotheaded idiot, your team becomes a hotheaded idiot. and his post-game comments (if true) further show that. the flames are going nowhere as long as they put the c on that moron. the guy lived under power lines as a kid AND STILL eats paint chips.
-
langkowARD, ig-ept, and mc-idiot should all be done for this series. will it happen? probably not. but those three f***wads deserve the hammer.
-
flip had no room. kip is way overrated tonight. most of his saves have been routine. if not for hasek, the wings are down 5 goals right now.
-
it's hard to get excited about the wings right now. sorry. even if they find a way to win the home games and beat calgary in 7...whoppee. their special teams are horrid--and had problems all season...not going anywhere with that. might as well tank against calgary. maybe holland is brave enough to make the wholesale changes if they do.
-
you can make a lot of money in vegas betting on the home team in vegas that has just come off two opening road losses. a lot of money. that game last night heavily favored calgary before the puck was even dropped. that they still almost lost the game is a good sign for the wings. relax.
-
calgary gets the calls at home, no question. the stat they showed is simply outrageous. but if you would have polled wing fans and told them before the series started they could take a 2-1 lead after three games guaranteed or play the games...100 percent of the those polled would have gladly taken the 2-1 lead. the calls the flames get at home are moot. the wings own home advantage. the flames can do whatever the hell they want at home and it won't matter in the end. at worst the series goes to 7 games and the wings still win. and that's the worst case scenario. if the wings win game 4, the series in over in 5. if the flames win the next game, it'll go the full 7. but the outcome is same either way.
-
seriously, why shouldn't they? until the wings win a playoff series again the media will rightly view their regular season accomplishments with skepticism. deal.
-
wow. the isles needed 2 points today to get the #8 seed...it goes to a protracted shootout and they win. on the one hand, i suppose that's pretty exciting...on the other hand, it seems rather cheap and disturbing. what do you think (especially toronto fans!)?
-
how do you read that, though? think about it: shootouts are allowed in the regular season but not when it's really important? shouldn't that tell you right there what a shootout is and what it does to the game--let alone what the nhl thinks of it? if it's such a good thing and adds such integrity to the game, let it go for the playoffs, too. that it doesn't should raise a red flag about it. hockey is the only pro sport of the main 4 (bb, baseball, football, hockey) that uses a DIFFERENT SYSTEM IN THE PLAYOFFS TO DETERMINE A WINNER THAN THEY DO IN THE REGULAR SEASON. can you imagine if the nfl used the college system of football overtime and then switched back to the coin toss/kick-off thing in the post-season? most people would say that's stupid. yet, people here backing the SO have no problem with the nhl doing what they're doing. look: it's simple: if you're a fan of the SO, then back it up: the nhl should also be using it in the postseason. if you don't want to go that far, you're not a true supporter of the SO. end of discussion. it cheapens the game because the nhl yanks it in the postseason--in effect saying "it's a fun litlte gimmick to help pass the time in the regular season, but jesus no we don't want the REAL games decided that way." the nhl's very attitude about the SO cheapens IT and the game.

the rivalry is only good if the opposing team stays good. just ask colorado how that works.
-
this is exactly how detroit gets ripped off playing in the west (as well as their opponent): so game 5 is saturday the 21st and game 6 would be the next day in calgary? and why 3 days off in between games 1 and 2 and pinched together on the back end? christ, they're coming off almost an entire week off, they play 1 game, have another half week off, play game 2--oh, and then will bunch the rest of it altogether. stupid.
-
6-0 and it's time for babcock to pull the plug on some guys here. shorten the bench and double up on the 4th liners in the 3rd.
-
the det news said yesterday both lidstrom and bert were expected to play today (blurb was at the end of the datsyuk story). on the other hand, there's no need to push it today, either. anaheim coming up short last night might have something to do with any change in plans with the lineup today. yeah, okay, my bad. i mis-read the standings. still, that damn president's trophy is the kiss of death most of the time.
-
the conference is locked up and the wings can't win the president's trophy, so i don't see them coming out today with a lot of fire. it'd be fun if that colorado-calgary game tomorrow was for the playoffs, eh? i don't think this setup this weekend benefits the wings next week. they'll be playing a team that has been in fighting-for-their-lives playoff mode this weekend while the wings haven't played a meaningful game in nearly two weeks. reminds me a lot of the setup heading into the world series last fall.
-
mission accomplished--shut it down on saturday and give guys a rest. i don't think there's much difference between the #1 and #2 seed in the west...and screw the president's trophy. the wings have a closet full of those trophies already.
-
at the preds board, by the end of their game thread tonight, they've been reduced to these three things: 1) hoping the wings don't win the president's trophy 2) cheering for the team the wings face in round 1 3) hoping bertuzzi's injury is more serious than it appears. pathetic.
-
probably feels like when you sleep wrong and have a crick in your neck (as my dad woud say).
-
that doesn't sound too serious with bert. i'm sure they're being cautious with him. he'll probably sit the next game as well.
-
first off, i'm kind enough not to post on the preds board. but i lurk there from time to time. lol...man, are they jumping off the bridges after this one. pretty funny to read. the latest post from over there i love the most: " I want to throw up."
-
really? that's f-ing hilarious.
-
shades of the last weekend of the 2006 baseball season....
-
is anyone as happy as me that the wings got bertuzzi for the price of a warm 6-pack while the predators paid solid gold for forsberg? at this point i wouldn't trade bertuzzi straight up for forsberg. brilliant work on kenny's part.
-
tape this game. play it back when you have trouble falling to sleep. *yawn*
-
it's getting to the point where the wings simply can't count on this guy. if they go into next season and don't have a plan in place for his inevitable stint on ir, they are fools. i'd much rather play dallas in round 1 than calgary. on the other hand, this 1st-place thing means sooo much to nashville that'd be fun to dick with them yet another year.
