when nashville wins their 3rd cup, get back to me. in the interim, they're nobodies who have proven nothing. zip. nada. oh, hell: when they make it to the second round of the playoffs--which i'm sure will be a banner-raising time in country city--get back to me.

anyone who watched these two games is fooling themselves if they think this current wings team can make it past the first round of the playoffs. they've fattened up on their lowly division (nashville aside) but they have zero depth on defense and iffy goaltending which=early playoff exit. end of discussion.

before even hearing these rumors, i've been speculating and bitching to my wife for weeks as we watch the wings about "lazy lang." the guy loafs and floats around all game, looking for a cheap cherry-pick points. i can't believe babcock hasn't benched his butt yet! really, if the wings could get a top-4 defenseman for him a bag of pucks, i'd do the deal in a heartbeat.

remember that prior to last year (when he had the tough adjustment period to north america) he was projected to go in the top 3-5 picks in the entire draft. the wings thought they got a steal when he fell to them and it appears they are correct!

Funny, I thought he'd say "it would be nice to have a first round pick once in a while". A top ten pick would be sweet though. unfortunately, i think the wings will have some top-10 picks in the next few years after this collective bargaining agreement and age ravages their roster. hell, hopefully the ping pong ball will bounce right and they'll get one this year, too.
