Hockeytown Red Wings

Outside of JLA I've only seen the Wings play at Nationwide. I've seen them in Columbus, probably about 15 times and it's always packed with Wings fans. Going to the bar that is right in front of Nationwide before a game when the Wings are in town is to step into a red and white party. And there's always a huge roar for anything the Wings do, and usually several "Let's Go Red Wings" chants. The only other NHL arena I've been to for a game was MCI/Verizon Center several years back when the Caps played the Habs. It was Ovechkin's rookie or second season, and the place was empty and bored. The bandwagon has filled quite nicely since though.

Watched it a bar with a lot of Browns fans while at the same time watching the Tigers-Indians game. Pretty sure I was not well liked.

I hope he comes back. There's nothing better than beating your rival when they have no excuses. If Crosby is gone, I'll lose a lot of hate for the Pens. And it can be just as fun to root against a team as it is to root for a team. So hurry back Sid, and may you find yourself running into a KronWall soon.

Yeah, the first half was pretty shameful but in the second we were definitely the aggressor. Drawing Mexico in your first match isn't a terrible start, especially with a squad made up of a lot of the B team.

Gonna be an interesting year for sure. I'll especially enjoy announcers talking about Jim Tressel more than the game.

I cannot wait for that night. I cannot wait to be extremely pumped for a Lions game. I haven't had a feeling of expectation before a Lions game since I was a kid. And even if these Lions end up completely f'ing that up everytime just like the old Lions, I'm happy just to have that feeling again. Seriously pumped for an NFL season...wow. GO LIONS!

Hell yes! Should've happened a long time ago but we need to do something. There needs to be an emphasis put on developing young talent immediately. Hey, at least Freddy Adu resurfaced during the Gold Cup haha. It also doesn't hurt that Juergen is a former Hotspur.

That's how I feel about it. Watching tribute videos today was like watching childhood memories. A lot of my favorite memories growing up were being with my family and going nuts over the Wings. When these players retire, it's as much about those times as anything. Thanks for a lot of great memories.

I can go either way on it. Yeah, it's kind of fun and all, but at the same time the Red Wings jersey should be respected and pasting something cheesy and gimmicky on it doesn't excite me. But like I said, I won't be outraged if it does happen.

Right, and Michigan didn't go to back to back Final Four's in the 90s. Not saying it was wrong to expunge those games, but deleting history doesn't mean it didn't happen. Does this also mean I didn't drive up to Wisconin in mid-October and watch us get upset? Because that's something I'd love to forget.

My favorite goalie of all time retires. He may never have been the most talented, gifted with the athletic prowess, and most certainly wasn't as highly-touted, but he battled and earned every single victory and save on sheer will.

Late to the party guys. The first part of what you said is possibly the truest statement ever spoken. The second, not so much. He was never gonna live up to that hype. However, he was the MVP of 2 BCS bowls. His worst games were typically in games against poor competition. This season will be interesting. Hokemania is going strong, we're at our weakest...we'll see. I will say I like Luke Fickell and I hope he gets a fair chance at the job at the end of the year. PS. 37-7.
