Would you go to a Premier League game in the U.S.?
Hockeytown Red Wings replied to Jwo's topic in Other Sports
I always hated soccer, and still do sometimes, but two of my roomies are huge soccer fans, so I picked a team so I could join in on the bulls***. And the EPL is the best soccer on the planet, so if you have to watch soccer, you might as well watch the EPL. -
Um....what the f*** was that?

That's a resounding yes from me. -
Hey guys, take it easy on Calfan. He's a good poster...even if he does like the Flames.

And especially Detroit. This city loves their fights as much as any, and now we see virtually no fights. I think that's part of the reason the Detroit crowd is going to other sports now. It used to be Kocur and Probert, McCarty and Lapointe, and for awhile even Sean Avery. Now we have a 4th liner who sees no ice time and maybe draws a fight every few games. I understand that the Wings have sacrificed the physicality for an amazing finesse team that wins hockey games, which is the most important (waiting for the playoffs).

Not to mention, that kind of stuff used to happen constantly back in Gordie's day. It was part of the game then, for better or worse.

Well, App. St. was Div 1-AA...and a D 1-AA teams have beaten D 1-A teams quite a few times. None of those D 1-A teams have been ranked number 5 in the country though.

I heard he'd already signed with Cal, but I guess that's inaccurate. -

Pryor is already pissing me off... -
I don't think that's true at all. Just because we don't have fighters doesn't mean we don't love a good donnybrook.

This team just keeps surprising. Dom was the man tonite, for sure.

Michigan @ Ohio State tonite....should be a terrible game filled with turnovers, missed shots, and fouls. Big Ten Basketball, catch the excitement! -

Youre more confident than I that he will go to OSU. I hope so, otherwise I'll have to hate him. -
It matters in Ohio too. I voted for Miracle On Ice, nothing will ever top that.

I know....I was kidding man. -
What an idea...besides, Mike's gotta share profits with the Nashville's of the league anyway, can't make too much money. Cut those prices!

Haha, that's a typical Toby response. Let the facts get in the way of a good story. Hasek has quietly been playing great the last month and a half. -
I think Mac could possibly have a limited role with the Wings. I dont think he'd be an everyday player, and he's getting old. But we know he has the talent, he seems to have the will, and I'd never count him out. If nothing else, he skates a lot better than Downey.

Unbelievable!

I dont even remember how I came across this site. Probably some sort of Red Wings google search. I joined in either 2000 or 2001. I remember being around for those depressing 2001 playoffs. It is kind of crazy to think that I'm still here after at least 7 years.

I was here before my member date as well. During the 2002 playoffs, we got an entirely new message board, which is why my member number is something like #27.

Get off your high horses. Christ, we've just had enough of the whatever crap pop music is big, and the same old standby's. Obviously we're gonna continue to go to the Joe, bad music or not.

You're probably right. We havent had any real fighters for years, and thus we haven't had any real rivalries in years. We tried hating Nashville, that was too easy. The Ducks beat us last year, a series a lot of Wings fans felt we could have won, and we're holding a grudge. The Ducks style completely contrasts with ours, and we need something to hate. Thanks for stepping up the plate and acquiring Chris Pronger...that always helps. I don't think there's a Detroit fan in the world who doesn't hate Chris Pronger.
