Thank you, I figured that it is the least you can do to honour both players respected by the fans and organization without having to cease usage of the number until the end of time. Take the number out of circulation for X number of years, in this case, based on their jersey number. Though when you apply this to somebody like Fedorov (91 years out of circulation) it gets a bit out of hand...for a player of his caliber it's not such a bad idea. I am a little curious about what the league intends to do down the road when retired numbers are becoming the norm or are given out like candy on Halloween (Vancouver-> Naslund, Colorado->Bourque) I think they should have a 10 year out-of-circulation honour or something. A temporary gesture to acknowledge their duties with the team as well as allowing others to use the number in the distant future too. Makes me wonder if taking Gretzky's '99' out of circulation for every team he hasn't played for, for 99 years would have been a better idea than to retire it for the rest of time

Take it out of circulation for 24 years?

Having lived in London myself I can only Certify that this is 100% correct. I drove the 'boni at the Western Fair Rink and having talked to anybody who knew anything about the guy, had nothing but terrible things to say about him and his 'off-ice persona'

I lived in London Ont for a few years (he played Junior with the London Knights) and I have heard countless stories of him showing up at the bars, buying a bottle of Greygoose to chill on and would be overheard name-dropping to pick up; along the lines of "Hey I'm Corey Perry, I play for the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL"... As well as it had probably worked (who really knows) it's pretty douchebag-like of a move. Also heard he's had his ugly mug filled in with a few lefts at the bars for s*** talking. This kind of behaviour only deteriorates my perception of such an individual, so f*** em!

What a joke. Definitely trying to play it up for the milestone (40th season) next year. This all but says that either one or both of the Sedins are getting their numbers retired as well.

It's likely he siphoned it from a sports broadcaster or journalist in an attempt to appear intelligent. The thread opener lasted all but two sentences.

I don't know if this has ever been recommended around here but what would you guys think of a game in Europe next year with the Red Wings vs X team... in Sweden.. comments?

you just proved the text under your avatar, congrats lol

I sure hope not. I can see where you are coming from but the game is played on the ice. I don't think the game could go as far as having Pittsburgh winning solely through officiating without it being blatantly obvious. Bettman can't stop Detroit from putting the puck in the net from his suite. Unless he has a sniper rifle loaded with tranquilizers aimed at Dats and Zetts.... Edit: also... The NHL is lucky enough to have a Stanley Cup Final of this sort with two powerhouse teams, so the ratings should recieve a nice boost.. I'm sure he knows that poster boy Crosby has many more years ahead of him to win the Cup.

Henrik Zetterberg: The Red Wing who could be king
heals_3000 replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
Great Article, All the best to Hank and of course, the rest of the wings. Seems him and Pavel are really closer than once thought, no wonder they're so good together on the ice. -
Red Wings already clinched, I guess they want to see how he does on the Unit

I am as well one of these. It's true. Some of the Irish went to Newfoundland and took it from there. Go Newfies!

Luongo skipped because of family issues. His wife is expecting their child i believe. I don't think Hank will have much of a problem at the All Star Game as there isnt much of a purpose in physical contact at the game... mostly to show off the skills these players have. However I am a little worried but I do not think it'll be that bad.. heres hoping him and the boys represent detroit nicely and show the league that we have some of the best players on OUR team! Edit: spelling
