    2023 Playoffs General Thread

Out of the playoffs the year before. Last place in January. Hot streak to win cup. Out in round one next 2 seasons in a row. Literally used as the prime example of how "lol anyone can win the cup if you just make the playoffs" Sure pal Edvinsson = Sergachev Seider = Hedman Raymond = Kucherov Kasper = Stamkos Cossa = Vasilevsky Ah, we're allowed to predict Kasper and Edvinsson, but not Cossa, Ajo, Wallinder, Mazur, or Lombardi. Sorry. I forgot. Kucherov didn't become elite until he was 23 Agreed with everything you said about the defense. Eddog - Mo basically make all our other D bonuses, and we'd likely still be fine with out them. That said I do think we have a lot of very nice bonuses coming in the pipeline and the potential to have one of the most dominant young D cores in the near future. gOAliEs aRe UNpReDiCTaBLe. I think Cossa's floor is Howard. With sky being the limit on his cieling. I don't think Kasper and Raymond get enough respect. Kasper has the potential to be much better than Larkin and be a true 1C. His cieling being Zetterberg with teeth. Everyone's pulling back on Raymond because of an average sophomore season. He just turned 21 last month. He probably still has 2 more years of developing yet and he's wayyyyyyy far ahead of every other prospect his age. He's gonna be great. I'm not so pessimistic about our other forwards. Beggren and Soder look like future top6 players. Mazur and Lombardi look like serious contenders for top6 positions in a season or 2. And we're adding 2-4 more great pieces this offseason. Yzerman is building an extremely big, fast, and gritty team. Our talented forwards that don't bring size or grit are soon going to have the luxury and confidence of playing in front of a solid goalie and a big mean talented defense. Yzerman is for the first time building his blueprint of a dream team.

Big surprise, but Bert is quickly becoming the #1 UFA target amongst contending teams. At least among fanbases.

    2023 Offseason Thread

2023/24 Islanders roster today: Lee - Barzal - Bailey Nelson - Horvat - Palmieri Martin - Pageau - Clutterbuck Johnston - Cizikas - ________ Pelech - Pulock Romanov - Dobson Aho - _________ Sorokin _______ Major RFAs: (F) Wahlstrom Cap space: $7 million After re-signing there RFA's and rounding our their roster with AHL size contracts, they're gonna be left with about 3-4 million in capspace. I think they will definitely be looking to trade Josh Bailey at the draft (1 year @ $5, 25 pts in 64 gp last year, 34 to start the season). This would not be a sexy option for us. But what if the Islanders attach a 2nd to him? In exchange for future considersations. He probably gives you 30 pts and you trade him at the TDL for something meager with salary retained. On the plus side he wore an A on the island for a longtime so he brings some leadership. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2023/24 Jets roster today: Connor - Schiefele - Wheeler Ehlers - Lowry - Niederietter Perfetti - Gustafson - Appleton ________ - ______ - _______ Morrissey - Pionk Schmidt - Demelo Dillon - ________ Hellebuyck ________ Major RFAs: (F) Dubois Cap space: $13 million After rounding out their roster with AHL sized contracts they are going to have about $6-8 million left to play with, and a gaping hole at 2C. I think Dubois is definitely gone. I have no interest in him as he seems like a POS who only wants to play in Montreal. Regardless, they're going to have to waste most all of their cap space on replacing him at 2C one way or the other. One guy I can see them trading is Brendan Dillon (1 year @ 4, 23 pts in 82 gp last year, 33 next season). They have a glut of LHD and a few yound D ready to come up and take his spot. Not exactly what we need, but could be a stabilizing presence for Eddogg on his offhand and flipped at the TDL. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ras - Larkin - Raymond Berggren - Copp - Perron Fabbri - Kasper - Bailey Kubalik - Veleno - Zadina Walman - Seider Edvinsson - Dillon Maata - Chiarot It wouldn't be sexy, but consider this: You basically get two decent players for free (use the 2nd from Bailey to get Dillon). They are only here for 1 year to be depth and added prospect mentors, then they are trade chips along with Perron and Kubalik at the TDL. And then next year at a better UFA class our roster is wide open again to promote kids, hand out extensions, and bring in good UFAs. IDK.

    New New Prospects Thread

Former wings assistant coach Adam Nightingale is doing a decent job rebuilding MSU's program. He got Red Savage to transfer in from Miami Ohio, and Isaac Howard (TBL 1st rounder) to transfer in from Minnesota Duluth for next season. Also got some 6'7" defenseman the Kings drafted to commit. Might start to see some life from that program finally. Former wings AC Ferschweiler also got our draft pick Ethan Phillips to transfer to Western Michigan. Our draft picks Ali and Melhenbacher have both played really well in the USHL as well. Would like to see them commit to a NCAA program hopefully soon.

2019 Blues were a "lowgrade wildcard team" that won the cup Seider - already elite Edvinsson - tremendous potential to be elite Raymond - solid potential to be elite Cossa - solid potential to be elite Kasper - solid potential to be elite Wallinder - small chance of being elite Mazur - small chance of being elite Lombardi - small chance of being elite Buchnelikov - wildcard Johanssen - wildcard Soderblom - wildcard Berggren - wildcard This team is loaded with potential to have high-end elite players... they're just not on the roster yet. Edvinsson and Seider alone are enough to build a solid defense around for years. If any 1 or 2 of our forwards also hit elite status, we're a high-end team with elite talent. And we're probably going to add 3-4 new names to that list of potential bluechips this season. This tank hasn't been executed to build a "high end, but not elite" team you lack of vision having mafuqqer

The gloom on Raymond is dumb. He just completed his 20 year old campaign slightly down from his rookie season. Very smart and talented winger, who literally just needs to get stronger, faster, and frankly older. He will be ******* around and getting 70-80 pts a season sooner rather than later. I'm also starting to agree with your second point about Reinbacher. Literally the only reason I want him is because he's right-handed and we have no RHD in the pipline. But when I step back a bit I think that's a pretty dumb reason to draft a player. We already have Seider and Edvinsson who are both going to be major blueline monsters for years to come. We can literally cycle the Walman's of the world around these two pillars and have a great top4 D. I think you go BPA and take a talented forward no matter which position. Reinbacher is a safe choice. And safety is for beta teams who will never hoist.

It is on Holland. The Larkin/Bertuzzi/Mantha/Hronek era was Holland's version of a rebuild, and SY basically tore all that down and restarted us. If you think SY is building 2018/19 Blues team that blows entire halves of seasons and then lucks its way into one cup every 60 years, then I'm also putting you on the short bus in the mornings.

Yeah well I think you both are ******* retarded. "Boohoo we don't win draft lotteries so now we're building a STL level lowgrade wildcard cup team." This is the honestly the worst take i've seen seriously made on this site in a while. And Scott exists. You don't even have the ground to stand on of being a doom n gloomer. Ur just the same old limp wristed spoiled Wings fans from 97-08 who havent changed at all. Seider is over here being a legit supestar at age 20. "But I didn't win this year". Oh no my second best player in his entire draft year didn't dominate his second season at 19/20 "waaaaaaa" Kasper and Edvinsson aren't on the team yet! "w'ere forever a second rate team" Honestly consider necking yourselves, or go be pathetic Leafs fans or something. Cause you don't have the brains or patience to recognize what is being built here. Amateurs.

Think its more likely that PLD is traded to MTL. And then maybe also Ehlers is moved. He's the guy ive seen talked about a lot. To WPG: our 2nd first + Zadina Ehlers - Larkin - Ray Ras - Copp - Berggren Kubalik - Kasper - Perron Fabbri - Veleno - Soderblom
  18. Cooper is a dirty lawyer weasel
  19. And his response now should be to just continue making up s*** about the Bolts lol
  20. SHOTS FIRED!!! Cooper calls Lalonde a filthy liar Lalonde is a special analyst for the playoffs. He said on broadcast that during his tenure with the bolts they discovered that Vasi's weakness was tracking shots from the point. So they changed their whole defensive scheme to account for this. Now Cooper is saying Derek is making that all up cause he has nothing clever to say. Are we going to stand for this? Is Lalonde an unhinged liar? How do we respond?

    Playoff HYPE, next 6 games

6 games going into the TDL. Caps. Rags. Sens twice. Then krak heads again. This is pivotal. If we do well in these next 6 games SY might be buying at the TDL. Caps are competeing with us for a WC spot. Rags have improved. Sens should be easy with their goalies injured. And we can take vengance on the krakheads.

Based on current discussion, look at Seattle's Daniel Sprong. I really liked him in his draft year, and have sorta followed him ever since. He got drafted by the Pens in the 2nd. Disappointment, and traded to the Ducks. Disappointment, and traded to the Caps. Disappointment, and exposed to the Kraken at the expansion draft. Another bad first year with Seattle. But now he suddenly has 46 pts in 66 games for the Kraken and is a pivotal forward on the team. We literally have the best team builder in the league in SY IMO. He's going to grab the Seiders and the Sprongs of the world. Now worried. Just patient.

We actually need to start saving money this year. Seider, Rasmussen, and Raymond all need extensions for the season after. And we're probably talking about something between 15-20 million total for those x3. Thats a huge chunk of our cap. We can probably only afford to buy like 2 good players this offseason.
