Being in school in metro Detroit the late 90s - the coolest thing you could do was own a Federov jersey - and the edgy thing you could do was be an Avs fan. My school had one. I feel like every school had one. Mine was a huge Roy fan and would always wear his jersey - despite zero connection to Roy, Colorado, the Avs, or the nordiques. I think he got a instant popularity boost at school for going against the grain and being an avs guy, but it quickly wore off once everyone realized he was just an attention seeking ******

No doubt the team is amazing and I'll take your word on the announcers. I'm just saying Wings can be in last place and Avs in 1st, and we pull more fans than they can.

Avs are a beetch ass franchise at the end of the day. If they hadn't gotten lucky with the Lindros trade that they are still suckling at the teet of with Sakic as manager, they would be another Florida Panthers. I visit the pepsi center every year to see a wings game in their house, and it's laughable. More Wings jerseys than Avs ones in the crowd. When the Sakic/Mackinnon/Rantanen/Makar years finally end I see hard times after. Maybe they can make Mackinnon manager and extend it IDK.

Cocaine among rich young people is SUPER common in general. Thats the target market for it. NHLers more than fit that mold. Stoll got busted with cocaine and MDMA if I recall. I wouldnt being surprised if guys like Vrana are abusing multiple things like pain killers and coke. CBD doesnt do anything for me. I see people swear by it, but I would need opiates for any serious injury. Maybe depends on the person.

I like when the leading scorer for each team gets the golden bucket in the swiss league. But the whole team doing it is cringe and sealspilled.

I like the tiering/relegation idea. Thats the solution here IMO. Instead of WHL, OHL, QMJHL... Go CHL, CHL minors, CHL juniors, with a relegation system. This should cut rape rates by 2/3, as only guys on the CHL teams will have the clout to pull it off.

Never had a problem with over-ripening. But I hate calling it over-ripening. Makes it sound like we waited too long. I would just call it ripening. If it's a tie between two players, go with the veteran. If Holland was being true to that - and not holding young guys back past this - I think it's a good policy. You also don't want to insert guys solely because of magical mystery potential. You want them to cut their teeth and perform and force you to put them on the roster. I think most teams practice "ripening" to the same degree that the Red Wings do. And over-ripening is an overstated meme by Wings fans, that only gained traction because we had such a loaded vet team for years that young guys rarely got a shot. Holland inserted guys like Larkin very quickly when he couldn't get anything better. McDavid's and Crosby's make their respective teams right out the gate because - not only are they supremely talented - the teams drafting those guys are awful and have no good vet competition for the position.

Well he scores close to a PPG every year. You can overlook a lot when a player does that consistently I think. And remember Kuzy is just the one that got caught. Who knows what his actual habits are like. The Caps nor he, entered himself into the player rehab program after getting caught red handed. He may very well be just a casual user who only "parties" a few times a year, once a month, or only in the offseason. That wouldn't really bother me that much. I don't care what guys do outside of work - so long as it's in control and not affecting their work. Vrana on the other hand appears to have some addiction issues with substances. Is that Kuzy's fault? Hard to say. If he introduced him to the stuff, then sure I guess partially. And you don't really want vets on your team who introduce young prospects to drugs. That said, Vrana's also from Prague. Which is basically the party city of central Europe. Young people have been flocking their for the club and hard drug scene for the last 10 years or more. And he lives there. I wouldn't be surprised if he was introduced at a very young age, and it finally just spun out of control on him. And Kuzy is just is an easy scapegoat coincidence.

That podcast is boring, but still forthright. I trust em. Also read this morning that SY intends to get going on contract talks for Larkin and Bert after the all star break. So were most likely bringing these two back IMO. Other news: being reported that Bruins are the frontrunners for Bo Horvat and want to extend him longterm... but also Detroit is the other team showing interest. Last but not least, Kaspers Swedish team saying they fully expect Marco to skip GR and join the Wings next year. Hes that good.

If we're just talking Defense, In a perfect world this is what I'd do: 1. Sell Maata at the deadline 2. Re-sign Walman and Lindstrom (RFA) 3. Release Oesterle and Hagg 4. Go HARD after Ryan Graves, or Slava Gakrikov, or Dimitri Orlov, in UFA in that order Walman - Seider Graves - Hronek Chiarot - Lindstrom Edvinsson/McIsaac With Oost and Hagg out of the way Eddogg can be the #1/7th man callup (and he'll get plenty of playing time when the injuries hit as soon as October). McIsaac is the #2 callup, and then we sign some more Kampfer types who can spend most of their time with the Griffs, but are also decent enough to be called up if needed.

You got Chiarot, Walman, and likely Edvinsson taking up the LHD spots next year. We basically have a ton of wingers unless Bertuzzi and Vrana are gone. And if we sign more centers one of our current centers becomes another wing. There isn't a glaring hole to me like last year at LHD. I think you go goalie hunting again, try to get a top flight center again, and sign some depth pieces. Of course this could radically change in the next 45 days

SJS has a pretty poopy AHL team, so I guess they wanted the better player? Weatherby is younger and allows the Griffs to get around the AHL vet rule so they can play Vrana. Doubt SY considers Weatherby to be anything more than a longggg shot prospect TLDR: the last infinity stone has been obtained and now were ready for a cup run

Was Zetterberg really all that flashy? Nah he was just textbook good, just like Kasper.

One thing ive noticed among wings fans is the general dismissal of Kasper as a future 1C, and i dont know why. I think 1C is still very much on the table for this guy.

IDK how many of you are Lions fans but multiple of my buddies have been calling me multiple times this year saying "HAVE YOU SEEN THE LIONS THIS YEAR?
