Jake Walman is looking like a top4 Dman going forward. Add Eddog next year. We should be good. Honestly have no idea what our needs are this offseason. If Bert/Vrana are gotten rid of I guess we go winger shopping again. If Larkin, centers. Probably need a new back up for Husso? But overall Im happy with the D corps even if we lose Maata.

We developed Howard AND Mrazek, but sure. Also, we literally got a new goalie coach in Westlund this summer. He developed Samsonov and Vanacek for Hershey prior to us. When Mraz took over from Howie we fired Bedard. New goalie, new coach? To appease Petr? That was probably a big mistake. Husso is solid, new Howard. He regressed from his amazing first month back to average, which shouldve been expected. Ill defend Ned by saying he hasnt gotten nearly enough reps this year to get his game going. So I liked the GR conditioning stint. But also come on man, youre not a prospect anymore. Theres no room for a goalie on any NHL team that needs 10+ games to get going. It will be interesting to see what happens with Ned. His trade value is slim to none right now. Does he willingly take a big pay cut to stay here this summer? I can see Detroit walking away from him this offseason unfortunately...

Larkin/Bertuzzi - probably picks and players coming back Maata - picks Vrana/Zadina - valueless (anyone ever notice we ALWAYS have problems with czech players? Tatar was probablly the most mild, but even he had rumblings that he was upset with the team when he wasnt being called up fast enough) Hronek - still has more time on his contract The fun part is I can realistically see us having 3 first round picks this year. We have a very strong prospect pool atm imo and this addition would mega load us up. As much as I advocate for trading Larks, this team will also admitededly go back to being trash without him. But that's also what I want. Lose a lot of games down the stretch.

THIS IS THE WAY I think about it like this: Everyone is comfortable selling Bertuzzi, Maata, etc... why not Larkin too? Is Larkin THAT special of a player? Is he SOOO good that he's worth prolonging this rebuild for? He's NOT. Almost everyone recognizes he wouldnt even be a 1C on a championship team. The attachment to Larkin from fans is an emotional one. He was our only beacon of light for years, Detroit is his home, he's the captain, best player in the most important position. But Yzerman is not an emotional man. He's a cold unfeeling terminator 19 series sent back from the future to ruthlessly kill all Holland red wings and restore the future NHL back to the correct timeline where the Red Wings reign over the league with a disgusting amount of talent and dominance. Larkin the player comes second to the totality of the winged wheel, and SY will do whats best for the future of this team regardless of him. Plus I can feel it in my bones that we're getting Bedard.

Lindstrom is the Joakim Andersson of RHD. We should flip him for assets while hes still young, RFA controlled, and has some value. Give his spot to Kampfer for the rest of the season. He's played well in GR.

What exactly does the PAP entail? They dont say what the program is as its private for each player. All i was able to gather is that the league has an open phone line for players in the program to call, and counselors available in every city. So what was Vrana doing this entire time? Intense inpatient rehab? Or Zoom calling a counselor once a week?... I did some stalking of Jakub's longtime GF, and she has been vacationing in the mediteranean since October up until mid December... kinda odd to abandon your longtime BF during his time of need to vacation alone. Also kind of odd that her trip to the med seems to line up with Jakubs time away from the team. Now shes a model, so her travelling for fashion shoots isnt unheard of. But from what I can tell is she hasnt appeared in any magazines since 2020... What im trying to say here is, I think Jakub has been "getting sober" in Greece, Sardinia, Rome, and Sicily for the past 2 months. Hmmmm

Circumsized at the very least Was reading one of the griffins insiders. Says Vrana has been sluggish and not engaged. Missing defensive assignments to the point that Simon is having to talk to him everytime he returns to the bench. So basically confirms what Kip said. Guy is lazy and he sucks.

4 games. 0 points. -6. For a guy that scores at will in the NHL, and was dominant in Hershey, this is really bad. Like I said in the deleted thread, theres some subtle things about the timeline I dont like, that no doubt the wings are aware of. 1. Obviously spent his summer doing drugs 2. Didnt seek help until the season started 3. Spent twice the amount of time in PAP than is required 4. Didnt exit PAP until the Wings started demanding answers 5. Now hes playing terrible and disinterested It paints the picture of a guy who really doesnt want to play and who used the PAP as an oppurtunity to kick back and relax. I dont see SY or Illitch putting up with this for very long. IMO that waiver was not some galaxy brain move by SY that some seem to want to believe, it was a clear message from SY to Vrana that he can go F off. There were several other safer roster moves SY could have made, but he saw Vrana as the lowest on the totem poll. Yikes.

Hopefully Vrana is just going through the motions in GR and taking it easy while he gets back in shape and up to game speed. Hopefully hes not damaged goods that cant play without his nose candy motivation... If hes going to be traded we need him up with the wings getting showcased like NOW. 57 days until TDL.

When Vrana got waived I ventured over to some Caps boards to gauge their reactions. Naturally their was a lot of Mantha v Vrana discussion again. Basically, Mantha is frustrating because he doesnt use his size and could be so much better if he did. But if you just pretend hes 5'11" hes a great player who plays the right way. They still love Vrana because hes an exciting player to watch, and has that next level of offensive dynamo that Mantha doesnt. But he sucks defensively and has bouts of laziness that land him in the coaches doghouse. Generally, they seem to have a good grasp of both players and are happy to have Mantha over Vrana at this point. Really sucks, cause this was Vrana's chance to start new and be that uber talented winger we know he can be. But what with the drugs, him not trying in GR as you say, and wiping Detroit from his social media, its probably fair to say hes done in Detroit. Not sure where we go from here. He seems to have no value and 1 year left at 5.25. Maybe we can trade him at 50% retained? I have a feeling he'll be bought out this summer though...

No But holy s*** the nards of steel on yzerman. He couldve played it safe and waived Erne or Hellberg or something, but no, he waives one of his most talented forwards, then refuses to elborate. Hes toying with the league at this point.
