I agree with going hard after Rasmus Andersson rather then Hanifin or Chychrun. Were set on LD with Walman, Edvinsson, Maatta/Johansson/Wallinder. We need to bolster RD behind Seider and ASP. Andersson would be a perfect fit imo. Walman-Seider Edvinsson-Andersson Johansson/Wallinder-ASP

Trading Berggren would be a mistake imo. Trade Fabbri and bring up Bergy.

I think that trade brings us from bubble playoff team - likely 1st round exit to bonafide playoff team - maybe win a round or 2 without mortgaging to much of the future.

Ras is 1/3 of that shutdown line. I have more confidence in Kostin or Veleno filling the Rasmussen role as 3w with Copp and Fish then I do Maatta or whoever doing what Hanifin could potentially do in that 2d role. That said Id rather keep Ras and send Calgary another piece. Just that if thats what it took to get Hanifin in Detroit I think you do that and dont think twice.

I agree on pretty much everything you said here except imo your overstating Rasmussens importance and downplaying Hanifins. No matter how you slice it a top pair dman is still more valuable to a teams success then any bottom six forward. Draper was important to those cup teams no argument there. But you know who was more important? Murphy, Chelios, Kronwall. Maybe you disagree.

In a second. Wtf? If Calgarys ask is Rasmussen + 1st you do that all day every day. Of course theyd want more then that so it doesnt really matter. Ras is a bottom 6 1/2 Pt/G F. Hanifin is a top 2 1/2 Pt/G D. Id prefer the 1st to slide to 2025 but either way it should be in the 20 range. If the older -by 2 years D is the better player you do it. No need to overthink it. Hanifin, Seider, Edvinsson, ASP, Walman and whoever would be filthy. Id also make the same trade for Chychrun.

What would Hanifin (or Chychrun) realistically cost? Youd have to assume both teams would want a roster defenseman highend prospect and high pick would they not? I'm sure the ask would be Edvinsson who should be off limits in any trade.
