Theres only 2 maybe 3 euros that have a chance of going ahead of Catton no goalies are going in the 1st let alone top 15 in this draft. Catton is considered by many to be a top 5 pick in this draft. If he was a few inches taller hed be challenging Celebrini. If he gets to 15 Ill eat my hat.

No chance Catton gets to 15. If Yzerman gets him in any fashion dropping or trading up Im streaking through downtown Detroit.

I just mentioned Solberg in the other thread. Love his game but prefer going F in the 1st. I think Yak goes top 10. Catton is my #1. No way he makes it to 15 though. Hage or MBN would be ok picks. I see MBN as more of a Kasper clone then Berg.

Depending how the board shakes out I wouldnt hate Solberg. Could use a LH Seider lite. Still think this team should be swinging for the fences for offense in the 1st round though. Jiri jr would be a nice swing in that same mold in the 2nd/3rd round.

Ya Draper was a charity pick in the 7th round. Fischer actually looks like he could be a player. Plays similar to his old man real good skater and physical.

Just noticed Jiris son Lukas Fischer is a prospect in this draft. 6'4 LD projected to go in the 2nd-3rd round Id be good with Yzerman grabbing him in the 3rd if hes still available.

I dont understand this. I dont think Yzerman will do it but theres def much reason for him to trade up. Having the deepest prospect pool in the league but not having any elite talent in that pool is why hed do it. Id be fine with MBN/Hage/Greentree at 15 but why not pony up extra assets which they have more then theyll ever need and get a Catton/Eiserman? I dont know how many times it needs to be said but Quality > Quantity. 15+47+Berg/AJo for 10/11/12 if a player like Catton falls makes a lot of sense imo.

If Yzerman trades up hes not getting in the 6-8 range. If Catton is falling outside of the top 10 he should be the target in a trade up imo. He could be the best player in this class outside of Celebrini would be a top 3 pick if he was a few inches taller. I think Yzerman stays at 15 and takes MBN. What do we think of the enigma Trevor Connelly? No chance Yzerman picks him but hes a heck of a player if he can put it all together. Probably a top 5 pick if he didnt come with all the baggage.

Edvinssons on the team to start next season regardless who else comes/goes on d. Hes replacing Gost not Chiarot and while it might be a upgrade defensively its def not a upgrade offensively. Your getting rid of the 3rd or 4th at worst dman on the team -Chia and promoting the 7th dman to top 4 -Holl. Thats a big downgrade. If its just about saving money you ship out Maatta ($3m) -easily tradable and Holl ($3.4) -cap dump, just don't use the 1st round pick to do it. Retain half on Holls contract and trade both for mid round picks and you save $4.7m the same youd save on Chiarot. Keep the better player and dont pay the premium. Sprongs production should be replaced by Berggren. Kane and Perron will both be back at around the same cap hit -reversed maybe slightly higher. I want Yzerman to trade up but he likely stays at 15. No scenerio he should trade back. This team has the deepest prospect pool in the league but lack elite talent. quality>quantity

Thats a bad trade to get rid of a bad contract and Chiarot isnt even a bad contract. Regardless what people online say Chias a good bottom 4 dman. Yzerman likes him Lalonde likes him and hes well liked in the room. Hes not going anywhere but if Y did decide to move him he could easily retain and get an asset not give up an asset. So you want to run it back with basically the same team with somehow a worse d and pay a premium to get rid of a dmen that is better then 4 other dmen on the team. Husso when healthy is way better then Reimer.

Johansson SRL- 3rd pair/2nd pair --- AF- fringe assuming you think AJo can make it as 3rd pair not far off. Danielson SRL- 3rd C/1st C --- AF- 2C averages out to exact same. Berggren SRL- 3rd LW/2nd LW --- AF- Fabbri (middle 6w) exact same Kasper SRL- 4th C/2nd C --- AF- Copp/Compher (maybe 2C) basically same you seem a little higher. Mazur SRL- 4th RW/3rd RW --- AF- middle 6 at best basically same you seem a little higher. Everyone else is fringe/boom or bust. Ya way too optimistic.

Everything good that happened with the WIngs was Devellano, Bowman and Murray, Holland had nothing to do with it, but everything bad that happened was all Holland, nothing to do with his amateur or pro scouts LOL. A big part of being a gm is hiring the right people that will together assemble a team. No one should get all the blame or all the glory. Losing Jim Nill was a huge loss to this team. Its gonna be a sad day when Hakan retires.

Keep telling yourself that Yzerman coulda traded back and still got his player. That just isnt reality. If Yzerman thought he could trade back and still get Danielson or Kasper, Edvinsson, Raymond, Seider he wouldv. He didnt tho because he knew there was a high chance he wouldnt get his guy. You actually think NHL teams rely on NHL central scouting to compile there list? lol You think people should be surprised because some had him projected a few spots lower? a surprise is when a player most didnt have ranked in the 1st round goes top 10 not a player some had top 10 others had just outside. Ya there are surprises at every draft Danielson wasnt one of them. Seider was and Yzerman still knew he couldnt risk trading back or hed lose his guy. Gms trade back when they dont have any players they like in that range or have multiple players they like in that range not when they have 1 player they have ranked higher then anyon else. Its not that hard to understand.

Players usually fall somewhere in the middle but the floor is still the floor aka not making it for most. You literally have the exact same 7 players making it - Edvinsson, ASP, AJo, Danielson, Kasper, Berggren, Mazur except you seem higher on some. Your right the rest are fringe guys which is what he has listed. What exactly are you arguing? Should the floor be subterranean so the middle would be not making it? Not convinced about Mazur? So youv never watched him play? This guys a gamer probably most likely out of any prospect to reach his ceiling.

Ya thats the whole point of a floor and ceiling players usually fall somewhere in the middle. Whats your point? Nevermind goalies who out of Edvinsson, ASP, Johansson, Danielson, Berggren, Kasper, Mazur wont be long term NHLers iyo? Id say Edvinsson, Danielson, Kasper and Mazur are as close to sure things as you can find. ASP and Berggren could miss but I think there more likely then not. Johansson is the only one with a lower probability of not making it imo.

Floors of AHL/Europe/7th are players that will play less then 100 games. He has less then half meeting that threshold that seems fair since most that he has making it are close to guaranteed tops 10 picks. Hes high on a few ceilings but the floors seem fine for the most part.

If Berkly Cattons available in the 10-12 range I hope Yzerman trades up a few spots. I think the price would be too steep to trade up in that 6-8 range though.

Wonder what it would cost to move up those 5 spots? Depending on the cost Id strongly consider it to get one of Catton or Eiserman.

What do Craig Button or Bob McKenzie or anyone else have to do with Steve Yzerman and the Red WIngs org? Nothing. For all we know Yzerman had Danielson as the 5th best prospect in the draft, he slipped to 9, and didnt like any of the other players you mentioned. Why would he take a risk losing that player which he most def would of for another mid asset. This team has arguably the deepest farm system in the league but still lacks elite talent. We need quality not quantity. Yzerman shouldnt even consider trading back at this point. If anything package our 1st, 2nd, prospect to move up and get another top 10 pick.

2 contradicting statements. As rare as it is Im not saying teams dont make trades in round 1 Im saying they dont gamble and trade back when the player they really like available at there pick. How could they possibly know who to spend the most time scouting? lol I dont know maybe based on there own scouting staff that put in Xx more hours watching these kids most 2-3 years leading up to there draft year. Teams dont base who theyr gonna scout on public rankings. Im sure they look at them just to make sure theres no major outliers in which case they might circle back and have another look but they def dont base any sort of opinion on players based on the public.

I give a slight advantage to Wallinder over AJo because of age, size, skating. Not many future 2nd pair dmen havent played a single NHL game at the age of 23 3/4. With Larkin and Danielson I think Kaspers more likely to be a top6 w then stick at c. Mazur to me is a better skating Bertuzzi.

Ya which isnt a thing anymore. You can be guaranteed any player that is a player has been scouted by most if not all teams in some capacity.

Thats not what the draft is. the draft is targeting a player you like and taking that player with your pick not gambling. NHL teams dont give a rats ass whos ranked where on public boards. They have there on list and take the players they like regardless what Sportsnet or TSN or the Athletic think.

Wjc? Hes 22. I dont know but I doubt this kid factors in to Detroit seems more of a minor league signing to replenish gr after losing 2-3 of Berggren, Kasper, Mazur, Hirose, Aston-Reese, Czarnik, Luff, etc.
