It pisses me off how the Wings have handled him...they knew he was a dynamo when they drafted him in 2001 but refused to bring him over to N.A. even after awesome seasons in 01-02 and 02-03. He should've been in the AHL in 02-03 and on the Wings roster in 03-04 but for some reason they want to leave him in Russia until his late 20s. Now he might not even ever see American soil after his accident...what a waste.

I don't know if bringing him back would be a good idea...he's been my favorite player since I was little, but even if we got him at a good price, he'd get booed relentlessly and it would create unwanted drama for the team and for him. I want to see him close out his career with some dignity, not on a team where the fans will boo him every night.

Well he's only had to talk about the S.M. thing about 5000 times in the past two years, I'd probably sound depressed too.

Oh man...We haven't had a monster like that on the blueline since the glory days of Anders Myrvold.

He's still a great asset to have on any team...you hardly ever see players who combine skill and versatility like he can.

Maltby can still occasionally bother people and plays solid D, and there's no question he's the best in the league at skating around with a pissed off look on his face no matter what's going on. He can still be an asset but he's going to lose his remaining effectiveness soon and frankly I'd rather see one of the young guys take his place in the lineup than re-sign him next year.

24 teams was perfect...26 was acceptable...30 is too many...more than 30 would be simply retarded.

There is no referee favoritism conspairacy theory...they call both sides equally s***ty. Some nights are just worse than others...and I agree the non-call on Chelios was pretty bad.

I totally agree...I'm not trying to say everyone should want him to play for Wings, I'm just saying he'd probably be loved here if he did. But even as one-dimensional as he is, I'd rather have him on the team than gumpy-ass Langfeld lumbering around out there contributing nothing.

Whenever I think of number 17 the knee-jerk reaction player I always associate with it is Doug Brown. Evidently he reminds Mickey of Gerard Gallant, who I'm too young to remember outside of the fight clips of him I've seen.

Oh please, everyone would love him if he was a Red Wing. Clearly he lacks discipline and control - which he will learn as he gets older - and scoring ability, but he is one of the best in the league at throwing off the opposition, which is why he is so loved in Nashville and hated everywhere else, not unlike Maltby back in his day. Aside from that stupid Bootland thing the other night he did a great job of pissing everyone off and drawing potential penalties. He got Schneider to take a bad penalty, could easily of had another with Lebda, and got Chelios to take a horribly-timed run at him, leading to a 2-on-1 goal. The Red Wing fan in me dislikes him as much as anyone else does, but be realistic here...if he were a Wing instead of a Predator there would be nothing but love for him on this board.

As long as he's back before the playoffs I won't worry too much...God help us if he isn't.

There's no way Montreal will not re-sign him, but Andrei Markov would be awesome...pair him with our current Markov and let the good times roll.

Considering we picked him off the scrap heap two years ago I can't complain...he can score 20 goals a year and doesn't hurt the team defensively. If there's someone I don't want on the ice it's Langfeld...he's like a young Keith Primeau except without the scoring potential or faceoff ability. Like others have said, Kronwall's been pretty bad lately, especially in the turnover department. Hard to believe he led the Griffins in scoring a few years ago, Lebda has outperformed him at both ends of the ice this year.

The only thing I distinctly remember about that game was Holmstrom taking 6 or 7 cross checks to the back from Matt Walker and Robitaille going in to help him. Joel Quenneville always did get a hardon from watching his goons attack non-fighters late in 3rd periods.

Haha that's a time-honored Wings game tradition in my family...To hell with paying $85.00 per seat to sit back and accept some third-rate upper bowl seat when there are bountiful empty ones in the lower bowl for the taking. I'll weasel my ass down there every time.

Florida is a pretty sad organization, they've been around for 14 years now and have yet to put together a respectable team, unless you count their fluke run in '96. They could've built something around Luongo, but he got fed up with playing for a team that never improves. If they had any hope of competing during in this decade it left along with him.

They'll pick up steam as Forsberg gets comfortable with his new linemates. Hartnell being out probably won't make a whole ton of difference in the long run, I expect the race for 1st in the Central will go right down to the last game or two.

As weird and crochety as he can be, there's no denying he knows hockey. I like his idea about the puck-over-the-glass rule too, instead of a penalty they treat it like an icing: The offending team can't change and has to take a faceoff in their own end.

A line of Blake-Filppula-Hudler, while painfully small, would be fun to watch...Blake would be a great role model for those two.
