If we were to trade Hudler away, it better be for someone better than Geoff Sanderson. Not that he's bad, but he's 34 and his usefulness to the Wings would be very short term.
-
Yeah I've looked at this stupid thread like 50 times and haven't posted until now. I'm amazed it's gone as far as it has. 10000-reply potential?

I doubt that would be enough to get him. If Florida is shopping him around, there are at least a half dozen teams out there that are in desperate need of a goalie of his caliber, they would almost certainly be willing to outbid us.
-
He was already losing effectiveness before the whole Toronto injury debacle.....who knows what he has left to offer now. I can't imagine where he would fit into Calgary's lineup, since they already have Iginla-Amonte-McCarty as RW'ers on the top three lines. Maybe have Nolan on the third line and move McCarty to the fourth?

I suspect Salei would take more than one of our minor leaguers to land. He's durable, tough, defensively sound, logs tons of minutes, and is relatively affordable to cap it all off. I'm sure there are other teams around the league who would offer up more for him than we would.
-
I highly doubt St. Louis would trade him to us. They'd want him out of the Central Division. Then again, they're in desperation fire-sale mode, so I guess anything's possible.
-
Yeah, the demand for Witt seems to be quite high. Whoever lands him is going to be giving up something a lot more substantial than Jamie Rivers. Souray is overrated, overpaid, and gets injured way too often, I wouldn't want him in Detroit. I'd like to see a nice cheap guy who doesn't have a problem not playing top four D minutes, like Nolan Pratt, Shane Hnidy, Matt Walker, Doug Janik, or Sean Brown. If Holland's feeling a little more bold and can work out a good deal, I wouldn't mind seeing Steve Staios, Denis Gauthier, Craig Rivet or maybe Hal Gill.

I live on the border between Troy and Sterling Heights, about 2 miles from the Champps on Big Beaver. I can go if it takes place anytime after I get out of school in mid-April.

Komisarek could fill Fischer's void nicely. Zednik would be nice to have if Montreal agreed to pick up some of his salary. He's been either injured or ineffective this season, but he's gritty and aggressive.

Hahaha yeah dude I was a fat baby too. I'm 5'10" 160 lbs now, and my parents still sometimes call me Ham Hock, my fat baby name.

Schneider for McCabe maybe. Not Lidstrom.

Definite nay on this one. I agree, it is like welfare. Isn't efficient in a business like the NHL. If teams can't make enough money to support themselves, then they shouldn't have an NHL franchise. Period. Kinda sucks but hey, that's business.

Me putting shelf pins in a bathroom medicine cabinet......I'm an installer for a closet company so this is actually normal behavior for me.

Salei would be awesome. He's been good for the Ducks this year, I have trouble believing they're actively seeking to deal him. It's not like he makes an obscene amount of money. As for Chicago, you can keep your washed up/overpaid/useless players. Only way they're getting rid of any of the veterans they want to deal is if they agree to eat some salary.

I'd bet they'd really like to have Lang back. They have more than enough cap space to accomodate him, and their most pressing need right now is a decent centerman to feed Ovechkin, and Lang could be that guy for them, at least for a season or two.
-
TSN report or not, physical, relatively affordable defensemen like him are a hot commodity right now, Washington will have no problem finding a very good deal for him. If Detroit wants to even have their offer considered, they'd have to offer up someone a lot more substantial than Mowers or Franzen.

I'd love to see Luongo here as much as the next guy, but the Wings don't have the cap space to be throwing around 5+ million dollar a year contracts. I know it is technically possible with the future expanded cap room and potential retirements to bring him here, but even though we don't have superstar goalies, I think we have more important things to address before the goaltending revolution begins....Manny will be around for another few years and Jimmy should get at least 2 or 3 seasons to try to establish himself, so there shouldn't be any desperate scramble to break the bank on someone like Luongo. There are plenty of teams out there with lots of cap space who have a need for Luongo way more than we do, and it will probably be one of them who ends up landing him.
-
The Wings have been extremely conservative with their trades the past couple years. I expect them to pick up a low-priced defensemen - possibly at the deadline, hopefully sooner - and that's about it. It would be nice to see Kenny swing a trade, though. There hasn't been any trading excitement around the Wings since the Schneider deal.
-
I highly doubt Florida would throw Luongo around at this point. Who the hell are they going to put in net when he's gone? McLennan? Hah! I would like to see him moved though. It sucks seeing such an awesome player waste his prime years laboring for a crap team like Florida.
