I don't think the front office has correctly identified the need for this team as they have done poorly or absolutely nothing to address this teams need for years. I'm not sure what their perceived need for this team is but they've made a mess of it. They are too attached to players that won't help this team move forward and to make deals that are necessary. This may be great on a personal level but this isn't exactly having players rushing over to play on this team because of this. At some point someone as to realize tough decisions will need to be made.

Exactly granted he was made of glass but he was a good puck mover and didn't make bone head plays. He was a solid option imo and much better than some of current D.

The only way this changes is if Ilitch starts losing money then maybe he'll think about firing Holland. The upper management is a clique and won't do what needs to be done. They've all gone senile or maybe mass hysteria.

Don't know how long Holland is allowed to F over this team. I would have got rid of him several years ago.

Except that I'm pretty sure Babcock is expecting this. If I'm not mistaken Babcock has called Franzen out more than once. It it seems to me that Holland is filling him in that role the only problem is everyone see's him for what he isn't and he will never fill that role due to his attitude/willingness to fill that role. Picking Franzen over Hossa just proves that point. Flat out Franzen doesn't fit our need on this team he has size which we need but he doesn't use it and he's not a goal scorer which is what Red Wings need on their top 6. Yeah its unrealistic but our coach, GM, and fans are expecting this out of him. Franzen set the standard to his skill set and only Franzen is failing of his expected role on this team. We don't need a defensive forward we have an overabundance of that on this team. It may not be Franzen's fault for our expectations of him or role that staff want him to be in but he knows what he needs to do and he's not doing it and that's the bottom line. Trade him or buy him out is the only option that I see.

His concussion didn't have any impact in his play Franzen was never one to go to the slot. Its part of sports IMO that attention will come your way its no secrete. Which is why this whole anxiety disorder that came up mid season doesn't make sense to me. I'm very skeptical.

I'm a little surprised that Monster isn't in tonight and they play Howard tomorrow. Is Howard playing both nights?

I agree I feel that he fills a role that Eaves and Miller already fill where as Sheahan and Jurco bring so much more, an offensive punch that we need.

IMO we have too many "utility" guys and not enough diversity in our line up and they wonder why we don't score goals, our PP blows,defense is leaky, and we can't crash the net. Putting all your eggs in one basket don't work. Luckly we have some change with the young guns. When our team is healthy there is barely any difference between our bottom six players.... maybe even parts of the bottom nine.

According to Khan "If he plays well in the ECHL and wants to take the next step to the AHL, the Red Wings would at least talk to him." At this point I'd like to petition for Holland to get a lobotomy because he obviously doesn't use his brain properly. No offense to Rafy but please please don't come back to Det. While I don't think its that prevalent its not that uncommon either but still I think the decisions for refs to make should be taken out and just make it a flat 5min major for this. Unfortuantly I think the USA as a whole is too reactionary rather than proactive to any sort of situation. Some serious s*** has to go down before something is done.

Ya know if they want hits like this to stop why not be more proactive and hand out more majors. Announcers always say that players know better but obviously this isn't true. IMO they should just get rid of two min minors for these types of hits and just hand out majors maybe then players will think twice.
