    Question for Wings Fans

Completely embarrased. How do you feel?
  3. He's had some gambles that have paid off well so far. Hasek and Bertuzzi specifically. Now that I've said something nice about him, I still think he's overrated, unless winning President's Cups is the goal. He's keeping the seat warm for Yzerman.

Hull: Datsyuk won't re-sign because of Babcock

Datsyuk hasn't said anything so this can't really be classified as a player power play, imo.

Hull: Datsyuk won't re-sign because of Babcock

Difference is, Scotty won cups, Babcock hasn't won anything.

Hull: Datsyuk won't re-sign because of Babcock

Let's see, Babcock got run out of Anaheim, even though he took the team to the Stanley Cup Finals because the players hated him, earlier in the year Schneider said he was going to "wrestle" with him, Shanahan unexpectedly left, Yzerman retired, numerous reports of unhappy players, an article printed in St. Louis about how unhappy the Red Wing players were with Babcock (info could have come from Legace or Rivers) and now Hull says Datsyuk won't return because of Babcock. That's a bit too much to be considered coicidence, don't ya think? Have we ever heard of a player defending him? I can't recall one time. Babcock is a great coach but an absolute Hitler in practice. (how many groin injuries this year?) He wears out his welcome quickly, which appears to be what is happening here. Since Hull still communicates with players from the team, it seems that his information could very well be legit.

    Lions Preseason Game 1

the lions are still plagued by predictability once they get in the red zone. they throw the ball all down the field, mixing in some runs and some play action passes. they get to the five yard line with first and goal and everyone in the world knows what they are going to do. hand off. that gets stuffed. if they would try a play action pass there would be two wide open receivers in the endzone because everyone is expecting the run. it's so frustrating. joey gets blamed for not producing any td's, well i blame tollner and marriuci for that. they are so hung up on running the damn ball that it's costing them td's in the redzone. maybe someone should show these guys a tape of the patriots throwing the ball their first 14 plays in a game last year. (dillon ended up with 120 yards rushing in that one). the patriots take what the other team gives them. so do the colts. it's ok to use the pass to set up the run. if they are putting 8 men in the box, throw the damn ball!

Eklund Rumor: Cujo back to Detroit?

in eklund's defense, he posted when the lockout ended that he was going to post EVERY rumor that he heard, whether it was stupid or not. he posted that a day or two before free agency began. i think elvis was spotted in kalamazoo. osgood vs. manny: i would start osgood 2/3 of the games and manny 1/3. i'd prefer a legace trade, though.

    Piston's Off-Season News/Rumors

yawn. this is old. just admit you were wrong and move on. it's ok to be wrong every now and then. grammar lesson: a paragraph is a combination of sentences dealing with the same topic. the topic i was referring to was that the pistons have the same tendancies (letting up every now and then) that they had last year. if you want to dispute that, you show your ignorance. i greatly appreciate your grammar lesson there. since i have only been an english teacher for the last 11 years, i am sure there is much that you can teach me about grammar. another quick point. this is a message board where people often don't use correct grammar. this is called "informal" writing. as you have probably noticed, since you are so grammatically sound, i don't even use capital letters. there is a form of written language developing known as "internet writing" where writers ignore common grammar rules in an effort to speed their typing. back to basketball. the pistons will continue to have letdowns when they feel they are in complete control of a series and they will not do the little things that make them a great team. if you want to dispute that, then go right ahead. p.s. is it not easier for a team to "shoot lights out" when they aren't defended as well? isn't defense all about intensity? see where i'm going here?

Yes. Btw, I agree with you on Pistons/Heat. Detroit would wear them down. Wade, meet Tayshaun. (hopefully his ankle is ok)

Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

First of all, I said the team has the same TENDANCIES as last year. Meaning that they have letdown games and will never sweep a team as a result. I never said they aren't any different. Of course it's a different team; it's a different year. If you want to argue with me and prove me wrong about something, it would be helpful if you actually responded to what I said. Secondly, yes, almost every single thing you said in that post I was referring to was wrong. So, yup, I would call that a "little off target." In case you don't remember what quote I was referring to, here it is. "Look what happened the other night. The Pistons will not let down and they will not lose. The ONLY way Philly will win is if Iverson drops 55 points, and to do that he will have to take about 60-70 shots." That's the quote I was talking about when I said you were a little off target. How can you argue with me saying that was a little off target? In terms of the officiating, I said it was a poorly officiated game with more of the calls going against the Pistons than the 76ers. However, I don't think that means there is a huge conspiracy against the Pistons. There were some that were outright ridiculous. However, I have noticed that the home team usually gets the benefit of the doubt. Your point about the 115 points is exactly what my point was. The 76er's shot the lights out in game 3. Part of the reason is that the Pistons didn't have the same intensity that they had in the first two games. Granted Philly hit some tough shots, but there were also quite a few more open looks than in the first two. That's what I was referring to when I said they had the same tendancies as last year and thanks for proving my point.

a little off target. i don't see why you think the pistons are different than they were a year ago. they have the EXACT same tendancies as last year and they did the same things all season long. once the team gets on a roll, they will play a sloppy game and won't do the little things that make them a great team. once their intensity level drops, their defense isn't quite as good, which leads to a team scoring 113 points. it's not the first time it's happened and it won't be the last time either. the pistons could play the hawks or any other horrible team in a 7 game series and they wouldn't sweep them. i still think they will win it all, though.

i was kidding. did you notice the smiley face after what i said? plus if you notice my next post after yours i said i would take that bet in a hearbeat. obviously it wasn't a bet. geez. btw, i don't agree with the conspiracy theory against the pistons. sorry. there were horrible calls both ways. yes, i agree, i thought more worked out against the pistons but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

i hope i'm wrong. but i'd take that bet in a heartbeat. you've got one team that thinks they can't be beaten and one team with their backs against the wall going home to one of the more vocal crowds in the league. the pistons are due for a letdown.

i'll be shocked if the pistons win game 3 (pleasantly shocked i might add). they never seem to put people away when they have the chance. i can see them coming out all cocky, assuming they will win and not doing the little things that have gotten them to be the team that they are.

not to mention that wade will more than likely be chasing hamilton all over the floor defensively. the longer the series goes, the more worn down he will become. at wade's age, it won't be as much of a factor, however running around screens that much will wear anyone out.

tell us how you really feel though. i think the pistons are better this year than they were last year. mcdyess, a comfortable, healthy rasheed, the new and improved tayshaun. last year every series was a struggle except the lakers series. the pistons were frustrating because they never seemed to deliver the knockout blow. it will be interesting to see if they do it this year. predictions: pistons over 76ers in 5 pistons over bullets in 6 pistons over heat in 7 pistons over spurs (not if duncan doesn't get healthy very quickly) in 6
