I'd have Franzen shadow Malking instead of Flip. Franzen did a great job in the opening round on Nash. He has the size and speed to slow him down, imo.

Hudler has done nothing to warrant being on the second line. He may be a better passer but Cleary is ten times better defensively. Remember, it was Hudler's lax defense that led to Pitts' goal last night. Babcock was livid with him when he came off the ice. He had only 11 minutes and 40 seconds of ice time last night. Cleary, on the other hand, had 17 minutes and 12 seconds. Unless Hudler comes out on fire, I can't imagine Babcock giving him more ice time. (unless the Wings get more power plays, of course)

I could certainly see Matlby or Homer doing that.

+1 How that's not considered baiting is beyond me. On topic: I'm not the least bit suprised that someone took shots at the area of his surgery. I'd be willing to bet that it was Cooke, too. I also believe that 3/4 of Anaheim's team would have done the same thing.

I'll start this off by saying that I am the biggest Crosby critic there is. I think he acts like a complete spoiled brat at times. However................ I've seen this happen numerous times (the tap at the end of the game) and if I'm not mistaken, Maltby has done it before. It's not a big deal. People are whining about this little tap more than they whined about Perry, Getzlaf, and Neidermayer ATTACKING the Wings AFTER a game was over. In terms of the interview, he didn't say it should be a penalty shot. He said that Zetterberg (he wasn't even sure it was Z) covered the puck with his hand. Then he stated that he wasn't sure of the rule and that he'd never seen anything happen like that before. People need to relax a little bit.

I don't really think it was that big of a deal. In watching that press conference, I must say that I'm less irritated by him than I was during his pressers last year. He repeatedly kept saying, "They're a great hockey team." Even the hand on the puck thing he said that he didn't know what the rule was in a situation like that. In terms of whacking Maltby, I think it just means that Malts is doing his job. He probably won't be able to get Crosby off his game by doing that, but maybe some of the others he will be able to. (like Gill the pylon). I wish Bylsma would give Gill about 28 minutes a game.

Duhatschek: Wings will successfully re-sign Hossa
therock48880 replied to ComradeWasabi's topic in General
Hossa's agent has already stated that the salary cap will not prevent him from re-signing in Detroit. None of us have ANY idea what's going on in Holland's office. All I know is, these "rumors" keep resurfacing. Where's there's smoke there's fire and personally, I think there is some substance to these rumors. Edit: By the way, Holland has already stated that he's expecting the cap to go up by 2 million. -
Possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen in hockey.

I've never liked this guy dating back to his St. Louis days. His teams are undisciplined and resort to b.s. tactics once they fall behind. Today there could have been more misconducts called against the hawks than were actually called.

I know, I was simply speculating. I think dehydration is a very strange reason, unless he's been sick. I was watching the game with a group of friends and every one of us thought he hurt a knee on that play. We rewound it and watched it over and over during intermission (since they advertised that they were going to talk about the Pens during intermission). He didn't really do the splits so the knee seemed like a more likely problem than a groin. As I've stated, I hope I'm wrong but with the way he skated directly to trainer at the end of the period made us feel like he tweaked his knee. Babcock said it was precautionary so, hopefully, all of my fears are wrong. Ideally, Datsyuk, Osgood, and Lidstrom are all good to go on Wednesday.

Or he tweaked his knee as the mlive article suggested. Hopefully it's just dehydration. I can't imagine why he'd be dehydrated unless he has the flu or something.

WCF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 6, at Blackhawks 1
therock48880 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I agree completely with you. I think Ozzie got injured right before the end of the second period. There was a scrum right in front of the net and he grabbed the puck, put his head down, and just stayed on his knees. NBC went to a commercial and didn't review it when they came back from break. I hope I'm wrong, but it sure seemed like he got hurt. Then, coincidentally, he got pulled for Conklin. -
Very mature response. Troll

Good to see the Penguin trolls back. (sarcasm).
-
When teamed with Crosby, Hossa averaged less points per game than any time in the rest of his career.

On letsgopens.com, some of the posters have stated that nhl players are dumb. Therefore, the poll means nothing. Morons

I think the reffing has been horribly inconsistent in this series so far. BOTH WAYS.

The goalie interference Carolina got away with last night: diabolical
therock48880 replied to BewareThePenguin's topic in General
Exactly. And Detroit just faced their fourth 5 on 3 disadvantage. If this was the other way around with the Pens having 2 power plays in 2 games, we'd be hearing constant whining from Pens fans about the officiating. Pens fans have no right to complain about officiating. -

Bettman is an NBA guy. Who has the most slanted officiating towards star power of any sport? The Nba. Who has the biggest stars in the Nhl? The Pens do. In the last six periods of hockey: Pens: 2 penalties Their opponents: 8 penalties Come on guys, how can anyone deny this? The Pens are playing great right now, don't get me wrong. But Gill commits more than 2 penalties per PERIOD, let alone the last six periods. For curiosity's sake, anyone know how many 5 on 3's the Pens have had to kill? I'm guessing zero but I'm not sure. -

The Pens have had a whopping TWO minors called on them in the last SIX periods of playoff hockey. That pretty much sums it all up, imo. -
I see Pitt was whistled for 2 penalties last night against a team that was pressing them and had control of play for a good portion of the game. Hmmmmmm. That makes a grand total of two penalties called on them in their past six full periods of play. Impressive.
-
Don't forget the Hossa Hog-Tie that Pronger used that was somehow missed.
-
I'm sure it's no consolation but I don't think any team left in the playoffs could handle the Ducks (other than Detroit). Despite the press he gets, Getzlaf is the most underrated player in the game. He's an absolute beast and his line gives my nightmares. Edit: I can't wait for the Duck Trolls to go away now. (not you DG)
-
So, according to your theory, EVERYONE should get away with elbowing people, right? I mean, Homer got away with it, so Niedermayer should also. Therefore, Franzen, Pronger, Getzlaf, Ericsson and whoever else should be able to elbow whoever they want because Holmstrom didn't get suspended. According to your logic, since OJ got away with murder, everyone else should too. That logic is flawed and childish. If I get a ticket for going 80 on the freeway (recently happened ) I can't argue that a different person got away with it so I should get away with it. It doesn't work that way and you know it. This is my last response to a troll. Go away, you have to do your homework for tomorrow.

Off topic: Nice to see the 14 year old trolls have made an appearance after a win. Ironically, they are no-shows after a loss. On topic: 1. Players get suspended for bumping into each other BEFORE a game, yet players can get game misconducts AFTER the game is over? That makes no sense. Those should carry over to the next game. 2. I still don't understand the point behind it. The Ducks had won the game. I've seen scrums initiated by losing teams after a game had ended, but never by the winning team. All they did was put themselves in danger of suspensions (they probably won't get suspended) right before a game 7. Basically, it was a very stupid move by the guys that should be leaders on that team.
